  1. Why do I even need a background check? I have a background check for my job, for my TSA Precheck and my Concealed Carry Permit plus I’m pretty sure for my Private Pilots license. TSA and CCP both require fingerprinting. I also have a MVR to be a driver which you have to pay for ( I have a Class A, CDL)! It would seem like with these credentials another background check is pointless. I’m not against background checks as you can see but I’m not giving out my SSN. As I said before, my wife’s SSN was compromised at a local hospital which allowed someone to file her tax return that ended up being a real PIA and now every year we have to go through a special process. Why would USAWS go through all this trouble with someone that can show them a TSA Precheck or a CCA?
  2. Here in Central Florida one of the first things a skier looks for is the driver. I’ve seen skiers pull their entry and or not ski all their rounds after learning who the driver is. In my opinion if you don’t have any 41s or at least deep 41s you shouldn’t be driving Open or high end Record tournaments. Most LOC’s do a awesome job at putting the right driver in the seat for the right division. Kind of funny, many sites won’t post who the driver is until the event starts. I think I’m a little off topic? but if officials start stepping away…, This whole judges background check is crazy. I’m sitting in the drivers seat and the judge is sitting beside me, why a background check on him and not me? Same goes for the tower judge. What about safety? He could actually have to touch a minor if they are injured!!!! I’m not totally against the background check but the Social Security number is a “ NO GO”. I already have my driving record checked as a Senior Driver what more do they want? I still don’t understand what my driving record has to do with driving a boat. Now if I was sited for a BUI that may be different.
  3. @swbca definitely go to Ski Paradise. It is on my list to do in the next year or two. Even if you don’t ski every day you will still learn from others. You may even be able to ride in the boat when others are skiing. 5 or 6 of my friends have been there and they all thought it was awesome. Just pace yourself. It is a very relaxed atmosphere not like a traditional ski school.
  4. I’ll bet $100 that when a judge is needed the LOC will look the other way and doctor the paper work to get the event finished. Tournaments in Florida barley have enough officials to run a tournament as it is. Now with the Seals stepping away it will be bad. Florida has very few 3 event drivers?
  5. My wife’s Social Security number was compromised at the hospital. That ended up in someone claiming her tax return. And now every year for ever we have to have a specific PIN number every year from the IRS.
  6. Whoops reread my post. I read it as judges for International. I’ll pay the $30 but not happy about it. If they require a Social Security number I’m out!!!!! I thought this was a volunteer sport?
  7. My copy and paste from the web site does not mention judges.
  8. Found the info. I dodged that bullet. I’m only a driver and judge! Background screens are required for all USA-WSWS staff, board of directors, Sport Discipline board of directors, level 1 instructors, junior development coaches, U.S. international team members (athletes, coaches, staff, etc.), judges, and show directors and assistant show directors.
  9. So who is required to have a background check? Did Safe Sport require your Social Security Number, I can’t remember?
  10. I took the Safe Sport course a year ago and couldn’t remember if there was a charge. I just checked and Safe Sport is free but a Background Check is $30 and required every 2 years. That banner on the USA Waterski site is a pain.
  11. I’m so picky if I had a touchless cover I would still have a cover on it, especially if I wasn’t going to use it for a few days. The touchless covers on my lake did make it it through hurricane Irma, thats pretty impressive. If you notice in my picture I also have bird deterrent installed. It’s awesome.
  12. FYI, I never bungee it down unless it is a tropical storm or greater. Winter Haven Florida. You can put this cover on faster than the touch less cover can go down, 1 person!!!!
  13. @dchristman the engine won't change the wake. They basically weigh the same. Without the ballast you can always add weight bags for ballast. The next time I'm in my boat I'll see how much %25 is in weight. The screen says but I can't remember.
  14. In Florida 25% then 0% then 50%. The trick ballast can be added to boats without the option. I’ve had 5 Ski Nautiques with no issues with the ballast system. My boat has pulled the mens world record a few times and the women’s, I had the pleasure of driving two of them.
  15. A 200s platform is low to the water. I have a feeling that will drag in the water and mess with the wake.
  16. @Deanoski the Reflex style release is by far the most popular release here in Florida. Even among the pros only Nate and maybe a couple others ski a traditional binding. Also most have a rear toe instead of a double boot.
  17. @Cnewbert I live 15 minutes from Ski Paradise on Spirit Lake. I checked Thursday our lake was 71.6 with a digital thermometer 3 feet down
  18. @Weappa Yes the shell would sink. The thought process behind the Reflex release system would be you can over tighten the Boa wheel and bungee so your foot won’t come out of the shell.
  19. @Svfara_1 Nautique isn't having a problem attracting people to their product. They can't keep up with production the way it is.
  20. Scary thing with a ladder would be if the rope recoiled back towards the boat the step will probably get ripped off the platform.
  21. From experience diving on dive boats and also owning many Ski Nautiques. I think you’re going to find if the ladder doesn’t have at least 3 or 4 steps on it it will be harder to use then just pulling yourself up on the platform.
