  1. I thought the Executive Order banning trick skiing would have been a good start. What happened to that thread anyway?
  2. This thread feels like deja vu...
  3. This year my wife gave me some framed reproduced images of the first patents for waterskis. They will look pretty sweet in the man cave! Also, when we first started dating she made the slalom course drawing with the dimensions and such. Many people that come to the house have no idea what it is. It's a good conversation piece. When she gave me that for my birthday several years ago, I thought she might be a keeper. Ultimately her driving got better, so I married her...
  4. 198 is truly and incredible buoy count. Oh wait...jump? I guess that's cool, too! Pretty awesome accomplishment!
  5. Has anyone drove for Dave Goode? I heard he has an interesting way of letting drivers know he's ready...
  6. Consider putting weight in the nose (30lbs or so), and running with no more than half a tank of gas. I would generally try and have a 1/4 tank.
  7. I'm fairly sure that there are no hull or fuel tank differences between '97-'01 models. There was also no storage added until '02. The only significant difference in the years you are asking about (TSC 1 hulls) are graphics, and some dashboard gauge changes.
  8. I had one and loved the fit and function of the vest, but durability left a bit to be desired. I loved the vest so much though that I ordered a replacement at the end of last summer. After receiving the vest I discovered that they made drastic changes to the impact vest last year. I think they had some quality control issues with the manufacturers or something. The vest I received fit horribly. I'm 6'3" 210lbs and they recommended a medium. I doubted this but went with the medium. It turned out to be so big I was swimming in it, and it was so short it didn't cover from my mid torso down at all. It was pretty laughable. I spoke with them and they said they are well aware of the issue and would be fixing it. Bottom line, before you order one, I would definitetly call and make sure they have corrected the fit and sizing issues.
  9. I have 3 heater tops, one for each round! I have an O'Neill Hammer 2/1, an Xcel, and an Eagle top. Here are my thoughts on each... O'Neill - I think the 2/1 refers to 2mm of torso thickness and 1mm of sleeve thickness. This is probably the warmest of my tops and is a rear half zip with a long zipper string. Xcel - I really like this top because it has a full front zipper. I think it is designed as a SCUBA dive top. Probably not as warm as my O'Neill, but I think partially because I should have got one size smaller. Eagle - This is my oldest top and I rarely wear it anymore because I like the other two better. This is still a decent top, but I like the other two better.
  10. Here was the previous post.: Surf Lake Link
  11. Sold! Boat left this morning for Houston. Gonna miss her...
  12. @Wish thanks, forgot to put it. Currently has 754 hrs.
  13. I'm putting my tug up for sale, as I'm relocating for work and joining a club with a club boat. This boat was one of the best purchases I've ever made. It is the ideal slalom tractor, and hopefully will go to someone who can appreciate it for what it is…here are the details: -PCM Excalibur 330 Motor installed in 2010 -PCM transmission installed in 2010 -Zero Off speed control -Bimini -Cover -Ramlin Single Axle Trailer - Rebuilt Hubs (all bearings/seals/races) 2015 - New Tires - Spare wheel/tire Click here for S.I.A. Link
  14. Before I began course skiing, life revolved around skiing at times when the lake was glass. I'll never take glass for granted...
  15. The '15 limited is just the special red/blue edition. It's the same ski as the blue/green one.
  16. Considering your current level and your skiing goals, I would just stick with the Z7. Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, the Z7 is a great performing yet extremely forgiving ski. Spend the extra money on consistent coaching. Also, spending the summer jumping around a number of demo skis seems like a bad idea. I would venture that with consistent skiing and occasional coaching, you could probably be running that 34mph pass in no time on the Z7. Then reward yourself with a '16 model ski next year at half the price...
  17. Nice boat, but I think you just told a bunch of potential buyers your real price is as low as $10K. Not sure if this was your intent or not....
  18. I saw that too. Low hours (312) and some nice options…galvanized trailer, cold weather kit, and some others. Seems like a decent deal under $30K
  19. @Horton…I've read the whole thread again. My questions still stand… The single puck system software is still being worked out…I got it, but is the ultimate objective to make it feel like the ZO of the last decade? Seems to be some differing opinions within this thread. It worries me considerably that @NateSmith43 compares the situation to the switch from hand-driving to Perfect Pass, or the switch from PP to ZO. I think the quote was "the same bump in the road that we will all get over."
  20. ***Disclaimer***I've been following this thread loosely since it started, but if I understand it correctly, Nate Smith and maybe some other pro/elite skiers are working with Zero Off and at least Nautique (maybe other manufacturs?) to dial in this new single puck system. Is that correct? Can anyone on the inside say whether the goal of these skiers and engineers is to develop a "better", possibly different feeling and pulling speed control, or get it to feel like the Zero off of the last decade? Also, it seems like an inherent advantage to be a skier involved in fine tuning a speed control you will personally be skiing behind for some time to come. I wonder if a bunch of guys are lining up to try and get their inputs considered?
  21. @jimbrake… The LA-31 is just one I tried on a whim. It's okay, not a favorite, but it goes good with jambalaya! Stone (San Diego, CA), and Sweetwater (Georgia) pales and IPA are better bets. If you're looking to branch out and can get your hands on some Boulevard beers (Kansas City, MO)…I think they are lesser known on the West Coast and highly under-rated. Some of my favorites...
  22. Of the beers on the survey, I'd say I only drink Coors Light, and that's when I'm "dieting." I meant to post this in the @MS and @skidawg beer thread a while back. This was my post-ski beer fridge at the height of the summer. Need to get back to visit @"Mateo Vargas" to restock my West Coast beers!
  23. @ShaneH…I think you will have 5 year rule issues!
