  1. @oldjeep - agreed and a calculated risk we assumed. The public lake that we were usually on didn't have much of a patrol presence so for us... it was solely a safety decision and not a what if I get pulled over decision.
  2. Something I did for my little guys when they were toddlers (3-yrs old and younger)... I created anchor points to the base of the passenger seat. I put two through bolts on the backside of the seat bench support wall and used nylon straps from each anchor wrapped through their car seat which sat on top of the passenger seat. I could snug down the car seat just like you can in your car. By having this anchor system and my toddler in his car seat - I didn't put a life vest on him. I only put one on him when the boat was stopped and he wanted some freedom to move around within the boat so this was a lot less wear time and they both loved being elevated in their car seat enough to where they could see the action behind the boat. Was this legal... no probably not... was it perfectly safe... yes but the exception was a flip over and those percentages are extremely rare and my wife and I were okay with that risk. Food for thought
  3. No experience with the 41's but I'm on my 2nd season with the Boa's. No sign of wear at all. They fit snug and the the cinch down mechanism vs. velcro is awesome. No bunching issues, my hands stay in good shape yet a good, sensitive feel of the handle.
  4. I bought the Camaro socks, gloves and hoodie from @waterskigirl a couple years ago. All are unbelievable products. The gloves for example don't allow any feeling of water or cold at all... really the same can be said for the socks and hoodie as well. My only caution for you are the socks. If you have neoprene bindings (I have T-Factors, front and rear) the Camaro socks are extremely tacky to neoprene. So much that I couldn't get my foot in the bindings with the sock on even with a little soap -- so just imagine if a crash warranted a release from the bindings... it won't happen. Thanks to @TFIN for that heads up. If you are using hard and soft shells and/or RTPs -- they will be awesome!
  5. @Bruce_Butterfield - I loved watching Koz ski and he has long arms like a gorilla. I wish he and the family were still skiing!
  6. @mikscinis - Several listed on ski-it-again
  7. @oneski - my experience has been that having a serious injury that had potential to discontinue my ability to continue skiing or severely limit my abilities while skiing -- well I had a different outlook when I was fortunate enough to return to the water. I had a massive smile and sense of sheer joy just to be back doing what we love to do regardless of performance. Even as my health continued to improve and so did my skiing - I felt that that setback was the fuel I needed to appreciate all things associated with our unique sport and just live it one set or one boat ride or one chat with your buddy on the dock at a time. For me, I got lucky - I've been able to climb back to where I was and actually surpass pre-injury PBs... I can tell you that I'm ultra competitive within my own performances but it just isn't the driving factor for me anymore... I think this mindset is actually making it easier for me to achieve new PBs when I was sure my PB prior to the injury would be my last. Good luck on your recovery... when you are in the moment on the water - take it in & enjoy it!
  8. Support my 9 and 13 year old kids on their quest to their first Regionals... maybe Nationals!
  9. I have an old drysuit and I cut a piece of it and stuff it inside my gloves. The piece is the width of my palm and the height goes from the finger web to middle of the palm. Works pretty darn good without sacrificing grip.
  10. @Horton - that's like saying you don't want any more NBA gear because you've got enough Jerry West in your closet (NBA logo is from a pic of Jerry). Just saying

  12. I'm still upset that @Horton didn't comment/like??? this t-shirt concept I proposed several months ago. When I think BallofSpray... I think of this image! @MattP and @Horton may continue to battle about the photo ownership (Horton won the last round) but who gives a flying "bleep" :) ... anyone else want to see this hit the t-spring print shop?

  14. @dvskier - curious about your dislike. It was probably my most memorable sense of accomplishment in waterskiing. I would like to hear what tactics or techniques I described that you disagree with... I'm always wanting to learn more! Thanks
  15. I ran my first and only 35 late this season. It felt so much like 32' that I thought my boat crew forgot to shorten the rope after 32' but it was truly on the "blue". That pass was just an awesome feeling but it came after numerous attempts (~50) of 1, 2 and sometimes 3 buoys at 35'. For me and watching video to confirm - my biggest change from 32' was attacking the 1st wake harder so I can release/transition sooner. Handle control has been mentioned and it's probably my biggest cause for failure at 35'. I often get separation from the handle off the 2nd wake which I know affects my outbound width and body position in the pre-turn. When I ride the handle out with my elbows tucked, not rush my turn or overturn - that's when I ran the pass. I'm a RFF so the all important start was the key (up on the boat in the glide for the gates, attack aggressively after the ski finishes the turn-in, transition closer to the 2nd wake than 32', keep elbows tucked, ride the handle out... and be patient)! Good luck - tasting 38' for the first time is such an awesome feeling!
  16. Nate & Terry get some time on camera talking about this weekend's Pro Am. Check out the video here: http://www.kcra.com/news/california-waterski-proam-glides-into-town/35345538 Brian on the news here: http://www.kcra.com/news/water-skiing-competition-in-rio-linda/28034632 http://www.kcra.com/news/slalom-water-skiers-compete-in-rio-linda/28029946 Looking forward to watching these guys and the ladies as well. It will be a fun weekend at Bell Aqua.
  17. It's been said that height of skiers may dictate a skiers speed preference for some of the elite skiers and we've talked about speeds 30 - 36. Wonder if any super technical yet shorter skiers opt for 38mph? Could TW run 39@38mph - the equivalent of a full pull at 41@36? Hmm... tasty ideas out there. Imagine the ski manufactures challenge on the speed variation philosophy.
  18. @Detrick - Hey Brian... I can't make it onsite Friday to personally signup for the demo's on Saturday. Is there any way I can still get on the signup sheet for the demo?
  19. Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday - looking forward to it!
  20. 2000 MB and wrap design by Terry Winter @twhisper
  21. @OKSkier - there are quite a few comments on the comparison on this thread. Did you see pg. 1?
  22. Sorry @pgmoore but I liked the simplicity of your design but I just wanted to add a twist to give it some context so people unfamiliar with BallofSpray... know what the heck it is about.
