  2. @Boody here's the link to Thursday's results...
  3. Pretty sad for all the folks in the Northwest and Northeast when lake temperatures in Northern California are 10 degF warmer than your extended outlook temps. I feel for you guys. Come to CA and I'll give ya a pull! Our lake temp is pushing 90 degF. Major heat wave but no complaints since we are skiing a lot!
  4. Gut wrenching news. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families!
  5. I had a big leap last season going from tournament pb of 4@28 to a tpb of 1@35. This year I feel fortunate to even being able to ski (rotator cuff / labrum issue). This season has started well. I'm running 32' consistently but 35' is a new ballgame but I'm cracking on it every time I'm on the water. Would love to run it by seasons end and have a crack at 38!
  6. @baja - I take it that you are LFF right? There are always good concepts as the one you provided but perception can be confused if some details aren't provided.
  7. I try to keep the lights on in California. Power grid operations (Renewable Operations for me) at the California ISO.
  8. Another NorCal lake home for sale is on Sky Lake located just south of Chico. Was our home ski site at Chico State. Kent & Janice Garrett are the current owners. See page 44 of the Western Regional Guide for ad. Priced just below $1million. 5 homes on the lake and very few ski these days but an absolute dream site! Check the Google Earth KML on BOS.
  9. I answered important because I finally changed my grip - going from right palm up to left palm up and I'm RFF. I dry dock trained 3-4 times a week in between workout sets. The transition of grip was absolutely huge for my offside turn and pull. I'm convinced that without the dry dock training I would have ended up with a abbreviated trial run with a return back to right palm up. So, for this season it was important - if not for that needed change I would say it wasn't important.
  10. Hello Ballers! Brian Murray from Folsom, CA. I grew up waterskiing on a public lake (Britton - 1hr NE of Redding, CA). My brother and I installed a slalom course back in the late 80's and we both got hooked. I took the passion with me to Chico State in the late 90's and skied on the ski team there (absolute blast). After graduating from CSU I headed to Folsom to start a career. I didn't ski buoys for a few years until I came up to the Sky Lake tournament in Chico just to hang out with old friends. I got a ski ride after the tournament with Eric Kosney and realized how much I missed it (set a PB by way - go figure). From then on - I was hooked again. Got married to my high school sweetheart and started a family (2 boys ages 11 & 6). Now we are all into the sport and are regulars out at Pleasant Oak Waterski Club. Love the sport, the people and the great sites. One great quote that I like to live by, "families who play together - stay together"!
  11. When threads on removing gates started - I thought about the following potential solution: If the skier misses an entrance gate (early or late) and rounds all 6 buoys plus successful exit gate then skiers next pass (with line length change or speed change) would need to be completed correctly (both entrance and exit gates along with rounding all 6 buoys) then the previous entrance gate foul would be ignored. This potential solution would not require changes to gate buoy locations... would not require returning to same direction for a retry (if one fault was allowed). It would simply be like opting up a pass. If you didn't complete the next pass after the gate fault then the score would be 0-buoys at faulted line length or speed. Thoughts?
  12. @Horton - I'd like to donate my Moomba earnings to BOS maintenance. I've really enjoyed the content and interaction on this site. Cheers to all the Ballers and I'll look forward to the next tour stop betting line!
  13. @Horton - Can your galactic servers archive live streams such as the Moomba Masters? Just curious... I won't be able to watch live. Be cool to have the top tour stops on video archive but I'm sure that would require some more Kilo Kai donations!
  14. @Horton - At least you're skiing man and not bad at all for this time of year! Looking forward to more feedback on the Quest. Curious about the video zoom - can you bring it in closer or are you trying to hide the winter coat you put on this past season? haha - you are not alone if so!
  15. My plan this year is to do back-to-backs at regular speed (34mph - M3) doing Seth's whips drill. Probably do that for at least a couple sets followed by easy & repeatable line lengths (in the course). No ski tweaks until muscles are tuned!
  16. I'm got on the D3 Fusion last season after being on an 2005 X5. In M3, I picked up 8 bouys in one season and was stoked to get into '35. Definitely a fun season and I'm hoping to start carving on March 1st (pending shoulder recovery). I'm RFF and always used a right-handed baseball grip and my offside finish is my main focus this year - hoping to be more balanced with a left-handed grip. Been dry dock practicing all off-season! Cheers to all the Ballers - have a great season!!!
  17. Just started skiing tournaments last season. She's always been competetive and is starting to get the drive to be a good skier. Before last season she just liked to open water ski but we have a club membership now and her drive is starting to change. The whole family is in it now... music to my ears!
  18. Two boys ages 5 & 10 just competed in their first season of tournaments last season. They love being on the water and are starting to share the same passion as me. We live for our season on the water.
  19. @Rodltg2 Is this near Camp Far West?
  20. @Horton Do you know what the differences are between the black tech 2 and the titanium 2? The descriptions look the same. Is it simply an appearance difference?
  21. Our ski club requires USAWS membership and I also ski tournaments. I agree with @6balls and others about why tournaments are fun. Our family of four (wife and 2 boys 6 and 10) love to camp out and ski at awesome sites in our area. The self challenge of trying to be the best I can regardless of conditions and site are what energizes me for the next tournament. I like skiing tournaments at our home site (Pleasant Grove, CA) but skiing at different sites and seeing old friends, watching swervers of all ages is just FUN! I'm going to miss not skiing at Sky Lake in Chico this year... my old collegiate stomping grounds are no longer hosting!
  22. I only compete in slalom but I do like to watch jump. I was a B-Teamer jumper in college and would like to step into the long sticks if our club had a ramp. As far as tricking goes - I'm bored watching it yet I support those that put in the effort to be good at it. I'd probably give it try but I don't want to burn any energy on the water unless I'm swervin buoys!
  23. @rodltg2 - Hey Rod - are these folks semi-local? If so (or even if not) I'd tell them they can test drive/ski it in March with the caveat that you haven't sold it to another buyer that was comfortable without a test drive or a fake-a-lake demo. I can vouch for you that your boat is in great condition and pulls great after pulling you last summer. Good luck man!
