  1. he estimated 70 aerators for our 300 acre lake. no small project
  2. Based on this guys process, it seems that the goal is to "Eat" up the nutrients especially phosphorus which tend to nourish the invasive plant species. The lakes he has done has actually seen less "topping out" plant growth. Our is pretty shallow and our soil is clay so it will never be clear water with all the boat action (especially the ballast machines). But I will be interested to see if the overall health of the lake, including water quality, fish populations, etc improve.
  3. As a lake community we are probably a year or two away, with testing and funding. Based on rough estimates, seems to be about a 1/4 of the price than a large scale dredge project or even less. Of course, I look for the added benefit of less turbid water as my ski reacts better in clear water.
  4. I get water like that maybe 5-6 days a year. Today was one of them :)
  5. I am on a governing board of our lake and recently sat through a presentation from John from http://lake-savers.com/ He has taken the process of typical pond aeration and modified it to eat up the organic matter on the bottom of lakes. Keep in mind, this does not help with the inorganic sediment. I found his "brew" of bacteria on the shoreline that was then distributed throughout the lake very interesting (peeked the interest of the bio nerd in me). It seems like this process is an excellent base support for fish populations as well (I fish a ton when not skiing). Our lake community has a 300 acre lake, but we are working toward testing to see if this process is a possibility for us. Just thought I would throw this out there in case anyone else is looking for solutions and dredging is not a cost effective option.
  6. Easier to turn a ski boat into something that boards well, than vice versa. I had a custom sac made for my Ski Nautique 206 that accomodates the step in the rear. Great boarding wake. The fact that is is a 206 and not a 196 sacrifices the wake at slower slalom speeds. For me at 34 mph its not an issue. Plus the big wake actually inhibits the development of young boarders as they take a bad fall and lose their aggressiveness at the wake. My ten year old has just started adding a little wake in the rear for a little pop, but not enough to increase his risk of a bad fall.
  7. I recently free skied behind my buddies 2017 MC NXT 20' . We had the trim to ~70 I think and the wake was doable. I would describe it as spongy despite being a little bigger at 15 and 22 off. 28 off was fine. 34 mph was preferred to 32. So, course skiing may be tough if your not into shorter lines. My other friends nautique sport 200 was a brick wall until 28 off and shorter.
  8. ALRIGHT ALRIGHT!!! WOOHOO!!! I'll bring some spare balls in case a little rehab is necessary!!!
  9. Thanks for the invite. If we plan an excursion to Chatt, My wife and I may take you up on it. I ski into November most years in NE Ohio. Tenn temps are likely to be an improvement.
  10. thanks. i bring some balls to see if i can make it workable
  11. I found one on Google Earth. Its between the peninsula and two islands, south south West of Goat Island. The image I have looks like some balls are missing, but I see some remnants. Do some Recon? and maybe bring some bouys? I will have a few when I go.
  12. Gonna be on Watts Bar lake in late Oct for a long weekend. Anyone ski there want to grab a set or know the condition of the course? I'll have my boat.
  13. We are taking our yearly vacation to Norris and I have not pulled the trigger on a portable yet. So, hoping to be a mooch. A mooch that can supply tequila, beer, etc
  14. My wife bought a radar lyric a couple years back and can now run the course at 26 mph. She is working her way up in speed. It has worked our well for her and others who have tried it. Once my ten year old start running passes into the lower 20 mph range, he may use her ski too.
  15. My wife has progressed on the Radar lyric to running full six at 25 mph. It serves her well for faster speed free skiing too.
  16. We have more issues with wakesurfers than fisherman. Apparently they need get up early to get that awesome surf water.
  17. Can't find an old one of me, but this is my Mom in the early 50s
  18. 68 Strada. Too bad my ski didn't grow with me this winter
  19. Great to see so many people having success
  20. I did that to my old Sixam when it was 4 weeks old. I used jb weld and it lasted several years without issue. I used a ton of it and sanded it down. I had no other financial option at that time.
  21. @MrJones makes a solid point with a tendency for people to slip in "gender roles". Many people around my lake will ask for advise on boats, skiing, etc. Whatever boat may fit the family, I always tell the guys, the day you buy the boat, have your wife drive it off the trailer. Start the habit of women doing the driving, basic maintenance, etc. They will be more likely to take other women skiing (without the meathead guys around), they will pull more kids (hopefully not tubing) and not to mention they will pull you. @Horton also makes a good point for their progression in skiing. My wife ran her first full 6 a month ago. She went OTF yesterday coming into 6. Instead of talking about aches and pains (even after two barefoot faceplants earlier in the day), or complaining that this is hard, etc, she was pissed she didn't run the pass. I have watched this glorious addiction infect her in the last month..... Next step- tournament.
  22. I have seen the course on I77 as well but don't know anything about it. I also know of one in Streetsboro but don't know who runs it (I think my brother may have skied there a couple times, will find out) Emerald Lake off 76 in akron Canton area (canal fulton) has Boosarosa Stillwater out by berlin lake @ScarletArrow is more likely to know the contacts his family is involved in tournaments in the area.
  23. I am on Aurora Lake which is private access, but am happy to give you a pull. During the summer the course is typically only useful in the early morning, but once the school year starts weekdays become a good option. Deeper into fall 1 pm on sunday (Browns game) is often good. My wife and I are typically off tuesdays and usually try to ski in the morning once the kids are on the bus. If wind is from the ssw to west, then the course is generally trashed. There is also a couple private sites toward Newton Falls (Glassy Waters, I-80 lake, etc).
  24. My wife completing her first 6 ever. She went out the front just at the end gate.
  25. Steve is still selling it.
