  1. p90x but I spread it out over 120 days to incorporate a separate core workout which includes some of the concepts in @drewski's link. I will also play hockey, swim, run, teach spinning classes, etc as part of an overall effort to lose weight. I dropped 40 pounds last winter and it made a huge difference. Trying to drop another 15-20 this winter. Plus, our neighborhood is putting in an ice rink on our tennis courts, and I will be the main ice prep guy, so there with be a ton of skating with a shovel before resurfacing the ice. The variety of tasty beers for fall and Christmas do hamper my weight loss....but they are sooo good!!!
  2. 1)Equipment matters - went from a sixam to a strada 2) Fitness matters - dropped 40 pounds in the winter/spring '13 3) practice matters - skied average 6 sets a week 4) Edge changes 5) Read what the wise post on this site, it has helped 6) because of 1-5 I feel like I am on the verge of a breakthrough into the shorter rope lengths. hopefully it comes together next year for a full 35 off pass...or more
  3. My wife is the footer. She makes it look easy. I make it look very difficult.
  4. 2011 Flo and Mayhem. Two years ago, my wife wanted to bundle you boat insurance and I was the roller that hit around Ball5
  5. When had some great October sets in NE Ohio. Sun is a rarity but we had it with low wind.
  6. My wife and I are a team in this. She generally foots first, then I hit the course. We do however, fight for the early mornings when one of us needs to stay back before the kids wake up. She generally defers to me. Who has two thumbs and is grateful? this guy
  7. @horton Some day I may finally figure that out
  8. Rode with my new strada bindings yesterday. Cranked down on the bottom laces and was snug on the top. Had an OTF fall and came clean out. Now, I trust them...time to get after it!!
  9. We rotate boats for the regulars and the non-regulars are uncommon and welcome (typically because we need the third anyway). As for teaching kids, I consider it a donation in an attempt expand the sport, but in return I refuse any and all tubing requests.
  10. NE Ohio -- With kids back in school, we tend to have the lake to ourselves, but with colder temps, it is tough to find people to ski and drysuit is exhausting. Even after my opening pass, I feel like I need and oxygen tank when I drop in the water.
  11. thanks!!! that helped a lot especially in really wind chopped water.
  12. @oldjeep my first hockey game is tonight, but we have around 3 months till pond hockey will be possible. Ohio has a very short ice season, if any.
  13. Perfski.com has settings for older models. Anyone know them for the 2013 or are they the same as 2011, 2012
  14. what adjustments to wing/fin do you guys make when a wetsuit becomes necessary? The question is based more on added weight versus water viscosity. thanks
  15. Through a promo deal (don't ask the details are crazy), I purchased a ski from radar. It was a great deal, but I will either get a 2013 strada or a 2014 vapor tomorrow. Either way, I hope it is a big upgrade from my old sixam that has dents, nicks and I swear may be rotting from the inside. Of course, I will be happy with the strada but a vapor will probably make me a little happier. Plus, the green will match the fine algae color we get in late july, aug. we shall see.
  16. Since I rarely see people surfing without the rope, I think the sport should be renamed shortline wake skating
  17. The problem with these boats is that they are very limited in their versatility. Skiing behind them is not necessarily a enjoyable experience especially if you want to take some slalom cuts. So, board sports and inflatables are your only options. Even worse, I see these boats with full ballast pulling healside only jumpers getting 2 feet of air. My buddy calls them healside heros. There are plenty of ways to bore me without trashing the lake. What I notice on our lake is that the really good wakeboarders (the few that can throw inverts or Raley's) all have three event boats, not these monsters. Nothing like teaching kids to ski and one of these boats surfs right by you. If the kid is learning on the boom, it is a serious safety concern if the bar smacks a kid on the head. @oldjeep Mastercraft x2 = X Tube
  18. I with a group that will be renting houseboats on the clinch river end next summer. While I am the only course addict in the group, some of the guys are gaining interest. I am looking at the Big Sycamore creek area to drop in a portable. It is relatively shallow compared to the rest of the lake, some slope to the shoreline and population seems to be minimal. Anyone ever drop a portable in this area?
  19. The water I typically ski on is "muddy" making you lose outbound speed much faster than at other sites. Plus, accelerating is a little tougher than other sites. When I get my ski (hopefully in the next day or two) I will start with Rini's number but generally a binding adjust is a great help on this water. @AB and @ richarddoane thanks for your input.
  20. Any settings for a 68" or should I just extrapolate from Rini's settings? 6 ft 205 pounds
  21. Tourney 1 1/2 @ 32 practice 1@35 on Sunday My goal is a complete 35 by the end of next summer
