  1. I guess innovation is part of the game. I remember a mid 70's Cypress Gardens Diablo with a grooved bottom and my late 80's Connelly Concept with dual concave and microlan textured base.
  2. I know HO's theory and have a ton of confidence in their team's ski design abilities. I'm also curious what the ballers think. Is this something that will be around in another year or two?
  3. @easttxskier that sure is a nice one, just like your old 92 MC. I'm partial to resale red too. Here's our well priced boat in New England. I think it's the nicest boat around in this vintage and price range. A little sad to let it go but it's time for us to transition to the next phase of life, 2 and possibly 3 kids in college soon. We used it very little the past two summers. http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&category=Comp_Boat&postid=19767
  4. When I am skiing well my HO Phantom feels perfectly matched for my style and ability. And, I also keep thinking about the next stick: Prophecy, Helix, Vapor...
  5. First work was self employment in 1970 - 72 at 10 to 12 years old - selling used but clean golf balls 4 for a $1 in front of our house on the 2nd hole of the Ocean City - Somers Point Golf Club. Made about $80 a summer. The summer of '74 right after 8th grade I started washing cars and pumping gas at Wallace Buick in Ocean City, NJ. That was a great summer - saved enough money to by my first boat, a 1968 14' MFG Corvette II. Learned to get up on one behind that boat. Also pumped gas for Dr. Jack Ramsay who had a summer home in OC. At the end of the summer he stopped in and gave me a Buffalo Braves warm-up and a NBA ball. Two years later he won the NBA championship in Portland. Jack was a truely great person!
  6. Fantastic article @Bruce_Butterfield‌ ! Yes it was fun to watch Dave ski. I also learned a lot riding in the boat while he drove and coached others. I was always amazed at what he could see - the little things he picked up on while driving the boat - and how he framed it up for the skier. Great times indeed!!!
  7. My good in season sets are 15, 22, 28, 32 and I'm real happy with that. I first learned this handle control idea at David Spencer's in NY. He would say - you have to "handle" being early. I wonder if that's where @Bruce_Butterfield‌ started to develop his take on it? Which is a super helpful article for all skiers.

    HELIX

Any more baller comments on this ski. I'm liking what I hear and see so far. Anyone using double T-Factor bindings with the Helix.
  9. First ride of the season in Webster MA today !
  10. I love waterskiing and it's American recreational and athletic roots. I also love basketball, another American born sport, and believe that the excitement of a well matched high school or college game is unmatched in the sporting world.
  11. Bump. Weatherman says 60 this Sunday in CT. If anyone would like to check out this boat let me know. Thanks
  12. Yep 91 - 94 hull. That's a nice looking boat. Could have purchased a mold, or splashed a MC. I have a nice 92 MC for sale for 8.4k. For about 90% of the skiers out there it's a tremendous boat. Flat wakes, handles like a sports car, easy on fuel, light on the trailer, looks good and sounds cool. The only issue is when skiers get past -38 there's some spray. I read about a slight mod they did to the spray flute on the MC pro tour boats of that era. Cleaned up the spray through -39. For a few bucks someone could put a ZO motor in it.
  13. I'm partial to our white with red and a blue accent stripe.
  14. Funny. Think I'll stretch today and try to repeat 5 times per week over the off season.
  15. Randy rides a Monza 67". Demoed a '14 A3 67". Didn't notice much difference. Says he'll try an S2 next.
  16. Congrat's to the winners. Very cool. Long live Ball of Spray !
  17. It is very inspiring to ski with my buddy Randy. Mens 8. He kicks our butts - getting into -38 this season. Hoping to see him compete in the Regionals and Nat's in the next few years.
  18. Yes. At 34 and below our 5.8L 351 burns just about a gallon a set - 6 passes. I would like to try the 3.5L Honda at 260hp with dbw and zo in a light hull - 18xlt - 176 - Sportster - GTS 20 - under 2k lbs package - with the motor, aluminum trans, and a sparse interior.
  19. I always thought the Honda 3.5L V6 would be a good, efficient ski boat motor - in a light hull 2k lbs or less.
  20. Thanks @KcSwever. It does a very good job.
