  1. But working like crazy on not being. 35 pounds so far GONE since July!
  2. I once performed a CTTWUSAOTFABMH. I wish I had video evidence of my feat, but I am sure, I am the first to perform it on this forum. Oh, for those not familiar with this trick it is a... Cutting Through The Wake Unstacked And Over The Front And Break My Hip
  3. @gjohnson Okay, no more golf comparisons. As a professional bowler, hitting a strike in practice is very different than hitting that same shot in a match................(charlie brown. WA WAH WA WAH WAH WAH) :)
  4. @Wish. I should get that...I believe that is the first tower I have seen that wouldn't have a desire to bump my head when walking underneath it!! Curious as to how much that wake is different with that much added weight!
  5. @Than_Bogan‌ but can you run it in the rain, or would trying that make you insane. You could lie, but that would then make you so lame. You can you can run it today Stay stacked stay tight hear what I say Make sure your settings are a okay The ski gods might let it happen your way Then you can post on ball of spray!!!
  6. Skiing a practice set and subsequently getting a PB is akin to a golfer out on a course on a sunny afternoon and playing either alone or with buddies and shooting a new best round. That is very different compared to shooting that same round in a tournament setting. the pressure turns a 5 foot putt into a monster-looking 15 footer. Yes PB's are important, but it is much different when it truly counts. However if you are a hack like me when it comes to skiing, I will take all I can get and you can bet your ass I will take every inch and allowance to get a new PB!!! But that is like saying to the dude who just broke 100 on the course.....good for you!!!
  7. @SkiJay why would I want that? That is exactly what happens when I say go---my fat ass sinks and I hang on to the rope!!!! Although I have not tried to spin around like that....maybe I will try that next time out!
  8. @wish come to utah. There are 6 man made lakes. All sold out and each lot at the 350k price range and up. And there are upwards of 18 lots per lake. I am working on a development now and if I an get the stars to align, it will be the biggest site by far in Utah.....and I don't worry a bit about selling out!!! One other thought on the subject I think all of us lake skiers could do. Almost every time I am at the lake, if I see a fellow boater, I ask if they want a pull. Guys like @Garn relish it and join in and guys like @scotchipman groan, but I have pulled lots of random guys and gals and they always love it!! Skiing rocks!! It is like a never ending nirvana of pleasure!!!
  9. I love this thread and would like to offer my input on it. It think there are several reasons why the sport is not growing, and I will list them below, however, I feel there is a HUGE difference between our sport and Golf, and that is the attitude of the elite in the sport. I have been involved in Golf my whole life and competed at a professional level for 11 years. One thing that is very consistent in golf is an arrogance among the elite. There are very few pros who will "associate" with the masses, and even down to your local country club, the members--as a rule--have an elitist attitude. Even your local course members have an air about them. "I use this ball," "I have this new driver," "Why would I play with that guy, he is wearing jeans!" etc etc. EVERY pro skier I have met, or had interaction with, could care less about what ski you are on, what skill level you are at, and what boat you are using...they are gracious and happy to be doing what they are doing and are excited you are there. I have pulled some very elite skiers with my 8 year old boat and Stargazer for a set up--Terry for example--and the common phrase is, "Thanks so much for the pull." They never once questioned my crappy line, or my 1/10th of a second fast or slow, they are simply happy to be on the water. Big difference there than what you find from the top of the golf world! Now, I have said this before, but the biggest challenge I see to our sport is two-fold. 1. getting thru the course is extremely difficult for the average person, and 2. the public simply doesn't know how to get started. Almost all kids today think of wakeboarding, or surfing as the primary water activites, and once you can ski, there is a HUGE gap to be able to get thru the course. I started off my kids pulling them through the half course (gates on one side and balls on the other) they had success and fell in love. We just need to figure out a way to get people involved and the sport will grow. To a person, EVERY kid I have put in my boat and got them skiing, said that is was more fun than wakeboarding! We are the new pioneers, and it is up to each of us to grow this sport!!
  10. @Wish. That would truly be a dream come true to be your neighbor!!! Although your wife would then warn all of you to, "watch out for the gators and that Brady guy!!"
  11. Dang @Horton. I was looking for my name but then realized you only went to 403!!!! Next time could you please continue the list to 1,403 and then I will get to be on te list!!!
  12. Here is a utah one. Don't ski on Sunday because that is the Lords day and you will definitely get hurt!
  13. @Wish the winters are long and hard here in Utah....Have to keep myself occupied. I especially like my towel. by the way, is that a relatively correct stacked position?
  14. @Ilivetoski Maybe you should stop listening to @Horton. That is who you are talking about isn't it? :)
  15. @Wish wanted to wish you a happy Birthday as well @Horton. hey, Brian, call me when you come to town--I can party with that!!!
  16. Along with this silly video in regards to boat driving: 1. Adjust the mirror so you can keep an eye on your skier. 2. On the turn-around, keep the throttle up so your skier can experience rollers. 3. Swerve with the skier as you go down the course. 4. Aim for the right boat guides. 5. Make sure you sit in my drivers seat with a wet-ass swimsuit!!! 6. Oh, and make sure you are slow on correcting mistakes, or your boat may turn off and you will in trouble!!! (see video!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkXBIKSrJw4
  17. Here is some ANTI-advice I will offer: 1. Continue to pull after the second wake to the next ball. 2. Spend as much time on the dock learning how to stay stacked. 3. It's all about how big of spray you make. 4. If you want to get across the wake fast, make a huge and deep turn at the ball. 5. Do NOT look downcourse while you are skiing. 6. If you are at 28 off or less, always adjust your equipment for the skiing conditions.
  18. So, after reading the post about bad coaching, I thought it would be fun to start a thread about ski advice that one should never follow under any circumstances. So, here is a chance to offer up that advice--my guess is that some of the posts will be surprising to those who actually have followed some bad advice.
  19. @ilivetoski. Does he post here? And if so, what is his name. (We want to give him some feedback). And if not, why would anyone listen to him. When I look for a coach, I insist they are a ball of spray certified smart ass.....errrr coach!
  20. Yes! It is called "smear"ing. :) Okay, serious answer now @ilivetoski, I agree with what was said before. While it may look look you are cranking that ski around, it is simply an illusion. Like @Wish showed from Adam, the angle is so much less than what it feels like. Here is an excellent video that shows it up close--and the music is cherry as well. Look at T gas on turn 4 and then look at how far he travels down course thru the turn, even though it looks as if he is turning completely horizontal to the boat.
  21. @SkiJay I have very much enjoyed this thread, because I had a completely different definition of Smear. I thought it was what happens to my gut and ass as I go and eat Krispy Kreme's with @A_B. :)
  22. I have absolutely no doubt that 43 will fall. We as humans, continue to put limitations on what we can and cannot accomplish, and occasionally, a human comes along and pushes the insurmountable ceiling another notch higher, at which point, several others follow suit, because now they know it has been done. This video emphasizes this point beautifully. Interesting to note, within a year of the sub-4-mile being broken, numerous others followed suit. Now high-schoolers are running sub 4's, and the world record is now sub 3:30. As a final note, look at course skiing even 25 years ago--back in the day of Grimditch, Duvall, etc, and it was a major feat running into 39.
  23. I had a similar experience with the boys in my neighborhood. I took out the scouts and the youth this summer and all the boats said either MC or SN, however my boat was 1/2 the size of the other 4 boats. As you can imagine, they all clamored to the big G25's and other huge beautiful ocean liners, and 3 stragglers got stuck on my 197. So, the majority of the kids had NEVER been on the water, but most all of them are avid snowboarders, so they simply assumed that wakeboarding was where it's at. Fast forward one hour, and a thorough understanding for them why I like no wake---I had each of them up on skis, had each of them crossing the wake, and had two of them up on a slalom ski. (nice having a boom to assist in that effort.) The other kids kept watching, and after that first hour, I had not one but TWO other boats pull up to mine because kids in the other boats wanted to switch out some kids from mine. I now have a neighborhood of 11 kids that have skied behind my boat and have a new-found love for "little wakes." It is simply education. Our kids are growing up different than we did, but hell, even the modern-day-aged kids still can have great fun old school if they are simply given the chance in a non-judgmental environment. Wakeboarders are awesome and are a absolutely necessary part of the sport, but it can be as simply as an invite to try out a ski, and more times than not, they get hooked.
