  1. Would it be more interesting to make the steps smaller as the line gets shorter? Rather than jump from 41 to 43 off go 41 - 41.5 - 42 ... Just an idea - opinions?
  2. I wonder how the D3 Quest is selling right now, it must have been down 41 more than any other ski this year...
  3. I am on one but at my level my opinion has little worth. So far I have not broken it in half which means its very good!
  4. Loving my Quest so far. Tfactor bindings are awesome as well.
  5. I would like to get some feedback on what people think is the ideal body size, height, weight, etc. We've all seen skiers of different shapes and sizes get the job done but how do we know what it ideal in terms of skiing for us as individuals? I read a lot about ski's and minor fin adjustments but not much about shifting the extra 10 or 15 lbs that could make all the difference.. I'm at about 180 these days, when I was younger skiing 36 I was closer to 185 - 190. I figure 175 - 180 @ 5'11 is about optimal for me at 34..
  6. @Horton you look good for your age. I've seen the youtube clips. :)
  7. @Rich - Do you still feel like you can improve and hows the body holding up?
  8. I would love to hear some examples of older guys running shortline - I used to tow a guy in 50's into -38 week in week out, he often started at -22 36 MPH and would drop the speed at -32 (this was back in the day with old ski's etc) How old and what line length?
  9. So if Nate was riding a Nano he would hold the record now? I'm loving the Quest and I'm almost certain I'm the problem not the ski... I just don't buy the magic stick talk.. but the idea of a ski tuned for left or right foot forward does make me curious.
  10. I can vouch for the comfort and feel of the T-factor bindings, I'm very happy with mine so far.
  11. Has anyone ever tried this? How short do you think you could go? It must be a legit 1 ball and back to the wakes.
  12. LFF - If I turn 4 well and fail from there I'm not happy.
  13. I would expect the mid and wide style skis are going to take more of a hit in rolly water. More traditional deeper riding skis should be more stable. We had some rolly conditions on the lake a couple of weeks back and some comments were made about the wide ski's not handling it well. (from a seasoned 38 off skier)
  14. WR status is worth a lot of money to these companies, a lot more than 10k - at this level the bonus for the skier should be more like $100k
  15. Years ago we used our trick ski's to run right down 38 at slow speed just for fun. Give that a try sometime.
  16. Vintage slalom is born. Timber skis double handles and foot throttles ... Joy
  17. Sunshine Coast QLD - Just got back from a ski today. Its cool but not cold. Look at www.ozskiresort.com for details if your interested in some off season training.
  18. This is winter, harder people than I are still skiing in a jacket and shorts.. I'm using a 1mm long sleeve kiln and its comfortable.
  19. So the theory is sound? When you say performance what do you notice without the forward wing?
  20. I was lucky enough to ski with Chet in the late 90's a few times, probably one of the best coaches if not the best coach I've ever had. Some interesting stuff in this youtube clip, two wings on the fin, some tidy skiing as well! Makes me feel young!
  21. Nate certainly gets the job done. Good thread.
  22. No, right hand on handle. Compressed on landing, left hand went into the water and got dragged behind - "twang"
  23. I've had a break from skiing, I buy a trick ski and start to condition my body slowly. See injury photo.. A little too much conditioning. Ruptured pec - 8 weeks thinking time. I'm now at 8 weeks and running some gates / 16m drills on my slalom, the trick can stay in the bag.
  24. My last ski few ski purchases - thanks Denny! KD 7000 x 3 Cr7 x 2 D3 trick D3 Quest coming next week
