Prostar 209 wake

Hi,

Just traded my 1992 prostar 190 for a 2004 prostar 209.

I usually ski the course at 34 mph and 22/28 off. Will I regret this change, or the 209 wake is not that bad?

The '92 mastercraft was arguably one of the best wakes ever. Comparing the two, the 209 will probably have a fierce bump at 22.

Will have to live with that! But at 28 that bump goes away?

Less than 34mph and 28off, the bump on the 209 is going to be huge.

I have heard that a 209 is not "all that bad" but it will be NO WHERE near what your 92 PS190 was, as stated, one of the best wakes of all time. I do believe there well still be a pronounced bump at 28 and nice lip of the crests. Just work on your form and ski through it. The most important thing is to get your family out on the water. (I would gather why you traded in the first place)

Family first! The 209 is more spacious as my previous ps190, sundeck makes wife happy, open bow everyone's happier! Will have to adjust my skiing.

@franciscolalas, just enjoy the time with your family, you can adjust your skiing a bit and make it work just fine for family day on the course. Why don't you post some pic's of the new PS209?

I have an X9 and 28 off will have a bump in comparison but pretty good wake at 34 - 36 MPH. Huge family benefits in the extra room.

Not big on the full size tower but hey, not my boat. Have them replace the "9" on the prostar 209 decal (I'm a little OCD) and have fun with your family! That's a good looking boat, enjoy.

Try putting about 100lbs in the very front of the bow for training. Remove it for family time. You'll be more prone to taking a little water over, but the wake will benefit nicely.

Thanks guys! I bought this boat from a private seller, so the "9" will be on me! I'm also not a big fan of full size towers, but family also wakeboards. Do you think 100 lbs on the ski locker will be enough to shape a better wake, or should I put it more forward?

I owned a 209 for a season. I'd say shorter lines and 34+mph you won't be disappointed. Slower speeds and longer lines.... you better have a strong position behind the boat. Keep in mind, it's a 3-event certified boat so it's got pretty good credentials for being a solid ski boat.

 

Great family boat too. Takes choppy water very well for a DD and for the most part you don't have to worry about small children sitting in the bow like you might on the 19 footers. Enjoy!

Yup , She was a fun boat. Once we moved from public waters to a private ski lake, it was just time for a smaller boat. As you can see my wife and I love those extreme boat colors :)
