@MickeyThompson I just started skiing the xtr. I couldn’t ski it at stock settings. I ended up moving the bindings 3/8” forward of stock in 1/8” increments. It is skiing much much better for me over stock binding #s.

I have a 67 and my front boot is 28 3/4.

The stock setting was way too far forward for me.

I usually have my boots back on any ski due to size 13 feet. My theory is that the ball of my foot is higher up on the ski than the average size foot.

Bringing this thread back. One guy says he skis the bindings way forward, the other the opposite. Tried an XTR recently at stock settings and cannot ski on it, period. Very odd feeling ski. What is everybody running on this ski? 67", 34mph, 15-32off.

jhughes, that is unusual. It should be a very predictable ride.

Note that the fin numbers Goode posts are using a slot caliper, with the FL measured from jaws and DFT using the slot.

@jhughes have no idea what size you tried but I set mine up at 28 and some change can’t remember but it has been predicable and one of the best skis I have ridden. You must not have the correct setup

Humph. I know about the slot caliper, but I'd like to avoid buying a 150.00 caliper just to try this ski out. It would seem the jaws measurement would be very specific to a particular caliper (which rules mine out instantly) and of course DFT would be different with the slot. Why wouldn't Goode post regular caliper readings too? So, from the tips and head with a normal caliper:

6.848 (Jaws on my caliper is 6.670)

.700

2.497

That's what we're looking at. Thoughts?

Spoke with Dane mechler during regionals about the XTR. He said that there is a certain kick point on the XTR and it’s crucial that you put the boots at the right spot. Creep forward until it bites then back it off.

I have a 67 inch XTR that I really like, very predictable, think I'm at basically stock #'s. Feels like a love child from my Nano 1 and 9800 which is what I was looking for.

I ride a 67 XTR (now with a Whisper Fin) with stock fin @:

6.838 (tips)

2.493 - 2.494

0.705 to 0.708 (head)

8.5 degrees

FB @ 29 5/16 (about 1/4" ahead of stock)

Went from a 66.75 XT1 to the 68" XTR at stock settings and so far it feels really good.

I find the ski feels easier on me with a little more surface area and my offside turns feel more consistent.

Closing the loop on this, moved the bindings forward a bit and I'm really liking the ski. The onside turn is simply unbelievable and the offside turn is better the more quiet and level you are.
