Baller Killer Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 Booking a ski trip and I've been offered a new Mustang convertible for the week. How can I pass that up?? My question is always when traveling A. How and Where can I Ski - confirmed. But in this case B. Will I be able to fit my ski in the back of this rag top? Will the seats fold down? And C. Will there be enough room for my empty sport tube and a suitcase?
Baller JDskiNECA Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 D. Is my expensive ski visible for all to see especially those who may desire to own it more than you desire to keep it. Just something to think about.
Baller skialex Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 Come on... you can always fit the skis between the car seats, with the tails laying next to passenger’s feet. I used to drive 100km in a Smart with a passenger, 3 skis and all our gear for a whole year... Traveling in style is fun... you are not buying the car... Just don’t leave the skis in when parked ? Baller Killer Posted September 9, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 @JDskiNECA I hear ya but not really going to be leaving the ski in the car. @skialex haha. tell that to the lady who has to travel with me!
Baller skihacker Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 We once rented a "subcompact sedan", turned out to be a 4 door pontiac sunfire........the rental company for some reason had removed the release gizmo to fold down the back seat.........the ski fits in the back seat but not very easily. Sport tubes usually have to be emptied and condensed to fit in most any car is my experience.
Baller Killer Posted September 9, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 @skihacker ya been there before. I now stick to well reputed rental agencies who have the cars in terminal and whom I'm a loyalty member with so you just show up and go to the car in the lot. nobody have a new mustang rag top that skis? Baller TEL Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 I am have trouble with @skialex comment "traveling is style in a Smart car"
Baller swc5150 Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 Plenty of room. It's a bigger car than you'd think, and you can drop a rear seat.
Baller Zman Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 I used to take my ski to work in my Z3 to have for sets after work. No problem. Mustang is even bigger.
Baller RAWSki Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 We carry two-three skis and gear to tournaments in a Saab convertible no problem. Lay down the back seat tails go into the trunk and tips fit behind the front seats with room to spare. Would be surprised that you can't do the same with the Mustang. We Can still put the top up and down too. As for leaving the skis in there for all to see we have covered them with towels and vests. If we make a short stop or two. One of the benefits of our "fringe sport" is no one but other ballers understand the cost of our gear. And I trust the BOS Nation.
Baller oldjeep Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 You need an A4 convertible. There is actually a little door that opens behind the backseat armrest with a bag that extends all the way between the front seats to keep the interior of the car clean. Designed for snow skis, but should work with a waterski. Had to google it to figure out what the heck it was for after we got the car for my wife. Baller thager Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 I have an 07 Bug convertible with that same type little door. Put a ski in there a few times. Works just fine. Until I figured that out I just tied my ski to the hood like a proper trophy.
Baller skibrain Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 The internet is a beautiful thing. I’m sure there are a dozen Ford Mustang forums out there with exactly the info you need.
Baller Killer Posted September 9, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 @skibrain ya I tried. Inconclusive with the rag top were my findings. The last gen I was reading the seats don't fold down. The 21 owners manual indicates (as equipped).
Baller jpattigr Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 I built a custom waterski rack for my wife's Boxster, works great Roof up or down! 2 seats and carries 2 Skis!
Baller skialex Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 @TEL was referring to the Ford Mustang... not the Smart that I had to use for a while, you could say that I was traveling in style though... kind of...
Baller skimtb Posted September 9, 2021 Baller Share Posted September 9, 2021 @jpattigr If we ever have a zombie apocalypse and the auto parts stores are out of oil, I’m coming to raid your garage. Nice rack on the boxster. I’m just that allows a fun drive to ski lake.
