  1. here was a picture of my old one - I'm pretty sure it's the same.
  2. the CVP's had a bad history of tossing a blade - my boat came with it and i looked and all the blades were weak at the hub i replaced it immediately. What a difference the Acme prop - smoother and better acceleration. I just thought it was worth mentioning.
  3. Congrats, that's great news!! I would change that prop out for an ACME 515 or 525 - i think you have one of the CVP props that are not safe
  4. I ski my 03 Sunsetter lxi and my partners 05 Response lxi regularly - the wake and handling is identical 😀
  5. I've had to tell all my drivers to give me a softer pulls. I used words like 1/4 throttle is about all i need and less is more for me. It took me a while to realize that if I go over the front on my start it's too much gas... the tendency is to say give 'er more but in reality it's the opposite. This give me time to think about putting pressure on my front foot. Oh and is your driver watching you in the mirror when they pull you out - that is pretty important.
  6. i believe stock is OJ 1709 - if you were happy with performance I would get the same to replace it.
  7. I'm not saying the price is bad. I agree with you most of these are going around 25k. The one I saw today was on Water Ski Swag for Sale on FB and was a 2000 for 16k. I don't think a link would work
  8. I own a Sunsetter lxi - skis fantastic. I think there price is a tad high and I know of another deal in Arkansas if you're interested PM me. I also had cracking gauges on my 2003 and fixed it myself with new lenses if you are interested in that info (I'm not going to say it was super easy, but doable)
  9. i would try the HRT or maybe double Vector BOA's - i love the vector boa up front - so easy to get into when boat is loose. Way more comfortable than rubber bindings.
  10. I really like my new Wiley RTP - I finally found one that fits my foot right.
  11. I'm a big Radar fan - have several. I would look at the Senate or Union. You will need new bindings most likely - i really like the Vector Boa if you are looking for a front binding. One suggestion is to not toss you ski the 1st time you ski it - i did not like my Radar Theory until I got a feel for where to stand on it, but once I did it was magic.
  12. I had wake edition S but upgraded it to the latest software and I have Zbox. You get the update with the zbox purchase. What I don't know is if zbox is active during trick - my guess is that it's not
  13. i agree don't let it bother you. Almost ski I've bought has some little blem in it.
  14. I grew up before they had them and I find it hard to remember. I do wear mine if I'm on the lake by myself and going fast. I often wish they would had something in the seat like my mower.
  15. I ski boats all the time with a lot more that 500 hours, my 2003 Malibu included. This 2001 Sunsetter VLX is a unicorn v drive - I believe they only put the diamond hull on this year VLX. This is the same hull that is on my Sunsetter and this would outski the 17 VTX all day and still have the room you are looking for. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/736807407893003
  16. I've heard the same thing about the slalom wake starting at 2016. I would think the wakes would be better than your current boat 30 mph - i think below that it will be sketchy. I know the some models had the diamond hull option which I would recommend. I don't think a lot of folks on this site will know 1st hand how the wake is but you could also hit up the Malibu crew website. I would ski anything before you buy it and don't be afraid to go to an older VTX if it will meet your needs.
  17. Interesting thread! I was very sick in 2021 and barely skied. I switched to a Session last year (same ski only wider) and I used it to get my muscle memory and confidence back. I had to grimace when I showed up the course with that behemoth LOL. Back on a normal ski now. On a different note I have a hard time getting my wide foot all the way into a radar artp so i switched to a Wiley wide rtp this season - gets my toes closer - i noticed a difference right away with my stance.
  18. @Sethro i would scoop up that white gauge on ebay and not worry about the color. those are extremely hard to find
  19. no on the face place, yes on the bezel - attempted both.
  20. i usually have my right hand on the throttle even with PP/ZO. My dad always said you want to be ready if something happens.
  21. saw this today https://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Slalom&postid=66281
  22. i know of several good deals of older TXIs - pm me if interested.
  23. I'm a Malibu owner and never plan to sell, But if I was buying new I would get a Prostar with 6L b/c I like that engine better than direct injection. I don't like the look of the new TXI as much as the older ones but that is just personal preference. But that is a lot of price difference!
  24. you can probably just drain a few gallons via the heat exchanger and then add a few back - that's what I'm doing to freshen it up - i don't see any reason to bleed the system.
