  1. Doing better than me. I’m typically the guy on the right from the start. I ask the guys in the boat, “when did I fall apart?” Their response: “As soon as you said hit it”.
  2. You guys really know how to highlight the glamour of skiing tournaments.
  3. Not a fair question to ask. Public vs private are major determining factors. Within sight of my front door I have 2 courses in view. They’re private and only 3 of us ski it 4 days a week, maybe 1.5 hours per trip. Heck, so private even I don’t have true access to them. A block behind my house there’s a public course and 2 guys ski it about a dozen times a year. Pretty sad, public course where there’s sunshine 13 months a year and probably only 15 days a year not skiable and that’s all the use the public course gets.
  4. Not sure the goal of this thread but when I go out in public, generally speaking I feel like I’m on the “better off” end of the society scale. When I come on this board I’m the poorest mofo on here to the 10th power multiplied by 3.5. Maybe some are just big shots on the internet. I think the perspective of water skiing is set by the manufacturers and the governing body of waterskiing. Skiers are the strangest people I’ve ever met. Typically lacking social skills but have a neurotic technical minded side. This is the only sport that I know of where the elite top athletes are very commonly involved and available for the pee-on’s Like myself, whether it’s on the dock, on the internet or just a phone call away. That I think is pretty cool.
  5. 07’s definitely came with dealer installed ZO. Seeing how CC owned a good number of their dealerships in 07 I’d call that factory ZO.
  6. I wonder if the desire to have a higher class tournament is because, whether intentionally or not, that’s the group that gets targeted? I really really liked Travis’ B, BBQ, B event and am really looking forward to upcoming events of the like. I ski KLP’s 8 ball course. I must be a dumb Panda recipient but 4 out 6 passes I spend count buoys and trying to remember what to do and when.
  7. Totally politically incorrect name today. Today the wadded up panty PC police would call it Freedom Skier. Seems like I always stumble across the IO version but rarely the DD.
  8. Oh heck, here it is. Thanks for refreshing my memory!! I’m ordering two. https://www.trailcampro.com/products/plotwatcher-pro?variant=9627548869
  9. 1. You’re only going to stop honest people. 2. There is/was a really great “plot watcher” type trail camera out about 5 years ago, worked great even though it only operated during day light. It took a frame every 3 seconds or so despite noticeable movement or not no matter the range. I have a lot of experience with trail cameras and this one was the most useful. I had one on our land for watching the poachers, and deer. Then I moved it on my house to watch the bears and the bitch neighbor stole it. Used a ~128 gig or so SD card. I’m currently looking for same type camera but hadn’t found it yet, surely it’s out there. I do believe the name was “Plot Watcher”. 3. You’re still only going to stop honest people. That’s why we have insurance.
  10. This will probably get me in trouble.... but I’ll chance it: I always wanted to name a dog Stain. So I could yell out in public, Come Stain, Come Stain!! Until my wife allows me that I’ll have to settle for the entire cast of Steel Magnolias. We’ve done Dolly, Shelby, Truvy and the odd ball Mary Lou sure paralleled Wheeza. And I almost feel forgot, the most mild mannered dog ever and the absolute best for children, we have Nellie (Annelle). Yes, the whole damn cast of Steel Magnolias. Truvy on left at 10yo, Nellie on right at 4.5. They both will accept way more abuse from a toddler that ANY dog should.
  11. That’s a duck behind it. Quack Quack, has wings and flies, likes water.
  12. I see windshield being toughest. Seats being a second but you do have flexibility for minimal interior as a possibility, without being fugly. Abandon the linc crap and go analog, a 343excal can be had with pcm 80 (good used) for less than $5k. Convert to ZO (guessing $3.5k). That’s $8500. Add 5k to piece part of a clean interior together, $12.5. Add $5k for incidentals which is realistic IMO, $17.5, if the boat and trailer were together for $5k that’s $22.5k. Go with that dirty word, PerfectPass, and save $2500 and have a good pull. Now, if you were to think about putting a price to your time, even subrate it at $25 an hour, FUGETABOTIT go buy a whole boat. If you like to tinker, it’s fun project in my eyes. I once built an NWZ, no more than 3 items were from the same boat, in the water in less than 2 days. I started with Clean enough hull, new carpet installed, then the race was on with assembly of everything else. Granted I spent over 2 years sourcing parts and storing parts, I do not recall any major fabrication bc all parts were from NWZ’s or 2001’s. I did have help installing and aligning and tuning motor. That was gauges installed, wiring harness in, plumbed, used complete motor and tranny, I put complete correct interior in. Within 48 hours it was running 47 mph and only problem for a year was in gas gauge. Then I sold it to family for $5k! That was pre wife and kids.
  13. @Horton agree to disagree, again. Where are you buying a 3 event ski boat less than 7 years old for less than $30k? And when was the last time you’ve tried to source windshield, frame and glass, to your actual door step?
  14. if the trailer stayed with the boat it wouldn’t be a bad situation. Paint would clean up but will be hard. I’d imagine getting OEm windshield would be tough. After that gravy work and $23k you’d have a good SN200. It’s be really awesome to pair it up with one of the repowers Skip seems to come up with.
  15. Redemption? Yes. But there’s a few things you DON’T DO.
  16. Sure seems like one manufacturer does way more to promote the sport than the other. That alone would persuade me.
  17. @phntmski that’s perfect for a skiboat. Tacos have got big cojenes. My dream vehicle is a first generation Tacoma. Until then it’s my ‘18 Tundra TRD Sport.
  18. You guys make way too much money. Putting $15k into a vehicle worth less to gain 4mpg at an extra 20cents per gallon plus more maintenance and more costly repairs down the road?! And too boot you have to touch a nasty greasy fuel pump which takes 20 minutes of scrubbing to get the diesel off your hands! That truck will turn 350k miles easy before Jody gets tired of fixing all the little crap that’s designed to fail then he’ll move on.
  19. This past July when the doctor accepted the fact that wasn’t waiting any longer to start skiing again. And this past Thanksgiving morning at 10am. Gotta tell you guys, It’s tough here. @75Tique, Larry evidently global warming is helping you out. When I used to hunt in Greensboro area it damn sure didn’t look like that in Winter. Trees were bare.
  20. -This year I am thankful for Vertex Pharmaceuticals. -Thankful for my work and the fact that when the phone rings and it’s family importance, I’m in the position to drop what I’m doing, no questions asked and nobody to report to. -Thankful for my family. -Thankful I was freaking skiing this morning!
  21. IMO the HO Hardshell gives a little bit more flex than Reflex.
  22. What I don’t get is WE are the market for these parts. I understand the engine could be used in a few other small markets but a used ~2015 SN blue interior for sale would be a red flag. What’s the logic behind destroying the entire boat just to sell the engine?
  23. Icon no doubt. He left behind big boots to fill.
