  1. The reason I started this thread, I received today. I love my 2018 NRG. Last week it showed up on the D3 site 66” was in stock $500 I was able to order a brand new one new old stock. After I ordered it showed out of stock apparently it was the last one
  2. @adamhcaldwell so at what point is fin tuning or binding placement needed 35 off? 38 off? What needs to be done? Move fin forward, back, shorter, longer, shallower, Deeper? For myself 22-28 off my ski works very well. I am working on 32 off, I am sure the problem is me but would a little ski tuning help at this point, if the ski is working at longer line lengths?
  3. So everyone is saying you would trade in your current ski, for your old favorite ski?
  4. I am talking about a modern ski something made in the past 10 years? If a manufacture made the decision to pull an old mold off the shelf and make new old skis would you buy it?
  5. Quarantined is my dream, gas is cheap, lake out the back door, water is 70 and warming up daily, air is 87 during the day and the wind has finally subsided. I skied yesterday 2 buoys shy of my PB back to back Hell Yeah!!!
  6. Thanks, great info. After a little fin tuning i have come to same collusion, get the fin and boot placement were the ski feels good and working for you, then work on your form and technique. Keep it coming
  7. @cougfan, Goode sells them
  8. It's getting closer to my first tournament, getting a little nervous the weather here in Orlando has not been kind. Winds blowing down my course 10 -16 mph gust up to 30 mph and Florida cold during the day when we do get calm air. Hoping to get a few good days in soon
  9. That's why I am go to tournaments this year. @ScottScott the newest person skiing in our group started skiing in tournaments first. I think he started his opener at 26mph and worked up in speed now he is shorting to 28 off maybe shorter in just a few years. Way to go Scott and you started to convince the group to start entering tournaments. Know matter how you ski on a particular day the knowledge from other skiers and the camaraderie from fellow skiers is worth the price. At Lapoint's in April there will be five of use skiing from our group. Should be a fun summer for our group, Now to at least get up on my ski at my first tournament will be a win for me
  10. @Ipskier, yep I saw your tournaments I will be skiing in both. Thanks
  11. This is the first year I have joined the AWSA and planning to do several tournaments this year. I wasn’t able to comment on class R/E/L versus class C. As I plan on tournaments this year I noticed a lot of them in Florida are R, E, L tournaments. And there is only one grassroots tournament which is held in March. I’m picking tournaments this year not wanting to spend a fortune because I know I’m not going to make it passed my Second or third run through the course since I’m still struggling at 32 off so I picked tournaments on price I don’t mind spending $50 to $100 for three rounds. But when each round is $100 or more which is majority of the tournaments in Florida it makes no sense. My girlfriend wants to join in the fun but she’s is only able to ski the mini course. The only tournament she can go to is the grassroots tournament. it’s a four hour ride so we’re going to spend the night so for the two of us we will have to rent a room, food, and travel we’re going to spend over $500 for a short few minutes on the water. Plus pay for her to join AWSA for one time on the water. If you want more people to join AWSA there needs to be more grassroots and reasonably pricedtournaments. When I have gone to watch my ski buds last year in tournaments there was no intercom system to let us know who was skiing what line length they were skiing we had no clue what was going on. I think the AWSA needs to make it a requirement that there is some kind of intercom system it’s pretty cheap now a couple Bluetooth speakers and a microphone maybe they could have a system where you can borrow the equipment and return it by the next weekend. I don’t want to complain I love this sport and I really want to see it grow
  12. I am planning on buying a used 2020 boat this coming winter the scores would help. I have already planed on having my own test in my lake this summer. I have access to a 2019 SN and 2020 MC working on the Malibu TXI. Have skiers that ski from mini course at 26mph to 34mph 35off. That way I can feel comfortable with my dissension. The boat I end up will not only have the least amount of disturbance for the skiers but is easy to drive through the course with several different drivers at the wheel. I will be compering to our usual tow tugs 2008 196, 2018 200, 2012 200 and 2016 centurion.
  13. There is an article about tournament boats, do they not publish the scores? Would be be a great way to choose what boat has the ratings one is looking for when looking to buy a boat.
  14. Has anyone found glasses that work for skiing and driving into the sun?
  15. I can't even imagine picking a ski with out trying it first and relying on someone else opinion. I am very fortunate to be able to pick up a demo ski from Performance and try it for the weekend. We all ski different, with that said the ski i am on now I did not like at first. But with a little fin tuning and I mean a little pushing the fin 5 thousands forwards made it the clear winner. When I look at the skis on the dock when all my ski buds are over every brand is represented and they all demoed skis first
  16. Was driving my 81 MC on the trailer years ago, someone with and outboard boat had dropped their cable tow harness in the water. Yep, it rapped around the prop and rudder bent the rudder and all three blades they were so damaged it could not be repaired. New prop and rudder. To make the day even worse I was pulling the boat out do to a burned exhaust Valve that happened that day.
  17. I will be selling my 08 196 this November keep this in mind
  18. I typically ski better at ski schools in my area, than my home site. Not that I don't eventually match what I do at ski schools just not as smooth or easy. What I have found is most school sites are lakes that have been dug out in the past 25 years or so. The water always feels slow, I hear this from other people. I have ridden in the boats and seen the speed is set right. Here's my theory, Lakes that have been here for hundreds of years have a lot minerals that have built up in them making the water feel fast. So people like me that like slow water ski better in newly dug lakes. It's my crazy theory, "new water" versus "old water"
  19. Just finishing our sets Another winter morning in Orlando water 70° air 74°
  20. All of them are pretty well protected most have two different courses in different directions. Don’t forget Matt Rini great coach He also has two courses
  21. 6.0l is the way to go. Have taken lessons from several pro's in Orlando they all like the 6.0l proven to be very reliable over the years with plenty of power. Top speed the 6.2l is the clear winner with the factory prop
  22. You guys are giving me a headache, I am glad I just go out and ski and not over think whats going on or I would never enjoy this sport.
  23. I am a big advocate of free skiing when the water turns cooler I do not ski well in the course so I free ski and work on my many flaws one at a time. In the summer when I start making the same mistakes over and over I free ski a few sets. It really helps, most of my ski bud's say it throws their timing off, for me cleaning up my mistakes makes me early any timing issues are easy to handled.
