  1. @swc5150. Not to worry. Remember with that hour count that is like buying a 10-15 year old boat in the ski world for average consumer. Also the 14s are not the most sought after because of the correct transmission wasn't released until 15 and beyond.
  2. Releasable bindings has increased my confidence last season. I used to hurt myself (not as extreme as your BIL) all the time when I fell. It was so frustrating. Get him into a new system and ease into it. It will boost his confidence. I remember cringing on my first fall and boom I released it was heaven. I was no longer afraid to push outside my comfort zone.
  3. I am doing the branded crossfire now since September last year. Before this I was doing HIIT workouts that were all body movement without weights. I had the endurance before but I had not realized how weak I had become until I started crossfit. What you find is your strength will increase and movement are very similar to what your body needs to do while in the course. I can't comment on the results on the ski until spring but my stats prove I am getting stronger and stronger each week.
  4. This is a spec sheet for a 2015 or newer.

  6. Yes. If you can afford it and have the option don't buy the 2014. True it isn't bad but it doesn't have the updated transmission that was changed in 2015.
  7. 2015 MasterCraft Prostar 6.2L $56500
  8. The 6.2 in the ProStar is amazing. I wouldn't settle for the 5.7
  9. Public lake where our cabin is located. About 60 minutes from Minneapolis in Wisconsin.
  10. I agree. Great team that stands behind the product they sell. I purchased my reflex system from them this season. I had some durability issues and they took care of the promptly.
  11. Huge congrats. I remember my first 15-30 pass and was able to capture it on video. It is one of my favorite skiing memories but like other said it led to an over the top addiction.
  12. I am glad this was posted. I bought pull out gates for my course and need to figure the timing and visual cues myself.
  13. The boat is a variable too. He does have a new boat this year.
  14. I workout 12 months a year with a focus on staying in the best shape for skiing. Crossfit is my favorite but I also like rowing and outdoor cycling. If you are asking at the end of April is late and going to a gym and working out won't be worth it. Might be the best to just start skiing and plow through the pains.
  15. Early season wipe out from last year. Me frog skipping across the course. :#
  16. Congrats on the new boat-was this the one in Stillwater?
  17. Razorskier1 speaks the truth. I have never had a problem with hands because this is how I grip everything from the ski handle to the anything in my workouts.
  18. I bought a US Gear last year and never see a reason to change. A real quality piece although that Masterline looks nice too.
  19. Pics of new boat. 2016 ProStar with 6.2L. Some factory pics and some dealer pics. More pics http://goo.gl/qxSq08
  20. Go to a farm supplier and ask for 2-4-D
  21. This popped up on my Ipad for free in my Waterski Magazine library. I have mixed feelings about it. I love course slalom skiing first but we often load up the ProStar with some ballast and play around with surfing during the middle of some summer weekend days because it doesn't matter what the conditions are. We don't have to sit on the shore waiting for slalom conditions and we can be out on the boat all day which is great. The other thing about this sport is that it got some people in my family off their butts and started participating in water sports again and to that I love it. To continue course slalom skiing as you get older you have to be dedicated both in time and physical fitness to participate. It takes a special type of person to deal with the crashes, sore muscles, injuries, costs, etc... to stay in the slalom game which most weekend or holiday people don't like. I think there is room for everyone to do what they like on the water and I will never be critical of how someone spends there time. Believe it or not there are plenty of people on public waters that don't like slalom skiers either so I know how it feels.
  22. What a great book. Not just about fin tuning but just a full understanding of how the ski works.
  23. That is a solid ski machine. The whole hype on the fuel pumps was more about neglected maintenance and care. I owned a boat from this era and owned it for 600 hrs on same fuel pump before I sold it. The hull was released in 2001 and by 2004 it should have all the updates. That bull was in production until 2014 so a long time. Good luck.
  24. I read your post but I am unclear on what is your primary purpose in your next boat and what features are most important. If you are a picky consumer you might want to stick with MasterCraft, Nautique, or Malibu.
