This sucks. I really enjoyed the magazine. Hopefully a new format comes in to replace it. Although it is an "old" media it was a good place to learn about new techniques and products. Bummer
Lighter seems to be better in our sport. I battle with this everyday in my eating and exercising. Since I have started course skiing almost 4 years ago I have reduced my weight by 25lbs and I think this has contributed to my progression. I want to lose another 10 to 15 by next season but it is so much harder. What I am trying for a new approach is the Keto diet along with my CrossFit Regimen. I have been hitting it hard since September and feel great.
I want the best but I tend to be dealer loyal in the end. At this point my MC dealer goes over the top to serve my needs and have been for over 8 years. That being said the only other brand I have considered over the years has been Nautique.
@swc5150 I had the similar experience with Radar. I called this fall to ask some tech questions about what would be my next ski. They transferred me to Brooks Wilson and he spend 20 minutes with me on the phone. Cool!
@sixball . Yes! You need to manage/measure if you want to get better in performance and/or strength. You have to be clear with your goals and it is easier to help answer what do to and should you measure.
I had ACL surgeries in the 90s. Back then the preferred path was the patella graph and I have to say my knees are very strong. I would strongly consider the patella graph as I have heard the other graphs are weaker over time. There seemed to be a trend to not use the patella for a while because the recovery was harder and longer. Back then I was playing college football and had trainers that got me back on the field in 4 to 5 months. The key is to have a focused trainer that is focused on getting your range of motion back as soon as possible. This is a painful process and takes hard work. This is where most fail to get back to before injury form. So like most stated rehab is so critical not only in the time of recovery but your performance after. I wish you the best on your recovery.
Hi All,
I am struggling to keep the stock rear bootie from Reflex to live a season. It gets torn at the stitching (3rd boot in 2 years). I did switch to a intuition liner on the front. What are options for the rear hybrid boat liner for this system?
Eric
If you are going to get a newer boat go for the Zero Off versions of the 197 post 2008. The newer boats handle better, have more room, and options that outweigh the very slim wake differences.
I got suckered into this with our first boat. Crossover MasterCraft with a tower. Sucked skiing behind and my kids never did any fancy. I saw a guy on my parents chain of lakes with a deck boat loaded with people and a homemade tower killing it. My kids were embarrassed and I felt the buyer remorse immediatley. Now we have the new ProStar and happy with it. It skis the best and can do everything else we need too.
Yes - I do both. You have to get your mobility in check and work on this as well as your workouts and skiing. If you are doing CrossFit a must read is Becoming a Supple Leopard by Kelly Starrett.
Get this book and buy the tools. It takes time but you will see results in skiing and other thing you do athletically. It really breaks down where your weaknesses are in mobility and if not addressed you can't improve.

Looking pretty good for self taught guy. Congrats on your first pass-I remember mine and how exciting it was. I am a struggling skier too so I won't do anything but encourage you to keep training. Others on this site are better at breaking it down and helping. Nice skiing!
Sorry for the delay. I got out this evening with my 2 boys. I had my 15 year old son pull me for the first time. The plus is that it exaggerates the points I made above.
You have to sit up straight. Legs and upper body at 90 degrees. Then pick a side to lean towards and use your hand on that side by dragging it in the water. Keep the boat speed at around 30 as you are trying to get into the trough. Common mistakes are laying too flat and having the boat speed too high. I will try to get some video over the weekend
