  1. @MISkier yeah, I was thinking the same thing.
  2. Thanks for that @6balls. Haven’t skied at this lake but I understand that it runs East/west so that may be factor to consider.
  3. @twhisper is great, he can certainly get you sorted in short order. He is very good at explaining things from different points of view until you understand.
  4. Thanks guys for sharing your experience, really helpful. 😀
  5. I’m planning on skiing a tournament in September that will have turn and burn available. I’ve read the rule and my basic understanding is that I can run round 3 immediately following my round 2 set (it’s a 3 round tournament). I assume that if I fall rather than miss, no T&B available, right? There is no protected score, right? It’s like I’m starting off the dock. Under what circumstances would choosing to T&B be a good idea? What rope length do folks normally T&B at? Normal start or last made pass or ? Thanks for your insights
  6. Cold and cloudy day when I was there for Radar Nation tour in 2022
  7. The bulk of the Willamette (in OR) above the Oregon City falls has banned surfers entirely. There used to be specific zones but now no surfing and no boats over a weight limit and no ballast. Local dealers will get a boat build with no ballast to get you below the weight limit.
  8. @twhisper voice in my head “just lean” followed by awareness of where my hips, elbows and chest are. At the the suggestion of my son, I’ve been reading “The Inner Game of Tennis”. Lots of great headspace stuff in there similar to what @101driver posted.
  9. @Deep11 yea, give us the dets on than lense, that looks awesome. did you turn off the stabilization to keep the skier in the frame?
  10. An actually zoom would be fantastic! A better tracker would help to get the skier at the buoy at a higher zoom. I’ve also observed that the stabilization limits what the camera captures at the end of the swing. I don’t know how to solve that unless one could turn off or down the horizontal swing stabilization.
  11. Here are some comments from my non-skiing friends who don’t quite understand what I’m doing all the time. I watched about 70% of this and it was fascinating. Like they said on the documentary, I just thought it was an activity, not a sport. Really cool documentary! I remember seeing more waterskiing in the past on sports channels, but unfortunately the sport isn't a money maker. It would be nice if they at least did more coverage during the world tournament. I don't think most people have a clue as to the athleticism or skill level to compete.
  12. We used to sink our course after every use and did what @BrennanKMN suggests. You know basically where it is by land mark and you just drag perpendicular to snag it. Certainly a gps location could be helpful. If you don’t have Surepath, ZO or Stargazer, you could try a hiking app for your phone. We found a great treble grappling hook at a commercial fishing supplier.
  13. I think those are the only two options for a commercial product. You can make your own from PVC pipe. Lots of different designs out there. A little googling should get you going.
  14. I ski on the Willamette south of town above the Oregon City falls. So, still a bit of a drive for you. Typically have room for one more on Saturday mornings. PM me if you’re interested. Kent
  15. I switched to the Radar BOA HRT this year with no change in my skiing. I have a 2021 Vapor front on a MOB plate and was using a very loose Vector rear (basically only tightened the boa, no top lace). I have small feet as well (7.5) I purchased the small on aluminum plate from @perfski The aluminum plate gives a lot of flexibility for positioning the boot.
  16. Pass 1, Set 1 of 2023…practice MOP 😳
  17. I have been following him for a while but I guess I didn’t scroll enough. Saw lots of fishing stuff 😉 now I see more ski video, thanks for the pointer @ColeGiacopuzzi
  18. @VermontSkier as a fellow LFF, definitely Dane for sure! I’d love to see some video of @TFIN but haven’t had much luck finding any. Maybe @ColeGiacopuzzi can hook us up😀 Trent has coached me a few times on GiveGo so I’d like to see his words in action to compare to my skiing.
  19. Joel is quite the showman. His second pass of round two was fun to watch.
  20. @lpskier Yep, this what @twhisper told me as well! soo many subtleties in this slalom business.
  21. My biggest issue (right now) is from centerline to apex. According to @twhisper I’m letting my arms out and going straight at the buoy too fast to turn resulting in slack which delays acceleration etc., etc. Could my stack improve, absolutely! The key to fixing things is absolutely repetition. Water time seems seems so precious running the same pass over and over again can feel like a waste. The urge to get to the next line length can overwhelm what I know is the right thing to do. This year, I’m committing to running easier passes perfectly and more often.
  22. I mainly use mine to crank the boat but don’t want it to start. But it would probably be a good idea to wear it. To be consistent at it, I would need an easy way to get it on and off as it seems like I’m in and out of the drivers seat a lot as I don’t regularly have a spotter. I like the wrist strap mentioned above; maybe I’ll give that a try.
