  1. And at the time I probably weighed 85 lbs. soaking wet. They made stepovers hard to learn.
  2. Skier’s choice. Most skiers these days use a hard shell boot such as Reflex or a Wiley Trick Wrap. RTP can be rotated either direction. The Graviton has a forward mounting position for hands and a rear mounting position for toes or hands and toes.
  3. We don’t have many skiers in this lake but the ones we have are really good. They don’t fall.
  4. Here’s the other new design. Love it.
  5. Great find. Thanks for posting. Lake Eloise looks a whole lot different today.
  6. I actually liked the other new design better, but I’m an old fart. I think they call it steel blue. Sort of buttoned- down conservative but classic good looks.
  7. What Jody said. I learned the hard way.
  8. Good camera work for tricks. I was there and the replay looked good.
  9. Suyderhoud—the guy who single handedly changed how everybody jumped.
  10. I’m originally from PA and skied a tournament on the Potomac just above Williamsport in 1967. Nice spot as I remember.
  11. Recently I was researching some of the old sites I used to ski in the East and was sad to see no water in Lex Carrol’s pond in Oakham, MA. Picture Lake in Petersburg, VA dried up years ago. Does anybody know if Jud Spencer’s lake in Endicott, NY still exists? I couldn’t find it on a satellite image.
  12. Years ago there was a guy in Winter Haven who made beautiful swings and chairs out of old Cypress Gardens skis. They were pretty common but I haven’t seen one in a long time.
  13. I had a D3 rear toe on a Goode for a while.
  14. When I was at AWSA I had a design sketch of a typical tire barrier but that was a long time ago. You might see if anyone at USA Water Ski has any info.
  15. Great post. Great memories. I have some upcoming episodes of The River Rat Remembers dealing with the evolution of my skis and one about the late Donnie Blank who skied the hell out of a Northland Shark.
  16. My guess is that any sort of sock or liner will make things worse not better.
  17. Wiley’s can be uncomfortably tight when they are new. They will eventually loosen up a bit. You can greatly accelerate the process by shoving something like a tapered sports bottle in the binder over night. (Use soap!) I second the idea of Radar Vectors. Good support for a beginning skier and much easier to get into.
  18. Safe Sport is part of the baggage when a sport governing body is in any way associated with the USOC. One more pain in the ass.
  19. @Michigan_skier_too I think Al Sanfanandre is looking for a Connelly like that. I don’t have his contact info but will see him at the Nationals.
  20. Cypress Gardens effectively used a floating breakwater of used tires linked together with rope or chain. It takes a lot tires and a lot of rope.
  21. You can extend the life of the wrap by coating the stress point with Shoe Goo. I did that this year on my Trick Wrap and it’s working well.
  22. @cruznski 3,400 and 3,470. I was aiming for 3,800. Jack is with me now. Good man.
