  1. Today was our last day, but it's been a beautiful Fall in MT. Consistently in the 60's and 70's (air) sunny and calm for the past several weeks. This is the latest we've skied, but with temps in the teens next week had to pull the boat.
  2. @Gasman I sent you a PM. @thager Ha! Bozeman used to be a cowboy town but now is being overrun by out of staters with tons of money, so we're getting more liberal every year... Drove by the airport today and must have been 20+ private jets, not including whatever is in the hangers, times are changing!
  3. No, currently snowing and waiting for our lake to fill. Frustrating time of year...
  4. Wally soft buoys are great. Color lasts for years and they don’t seem to harden or break down. They’re spendy but worth it for the gates and turn balls.
  5. Same here, got my order 2 days after ordering.
  6. @lpskier I used to ski with a guy that did that! I struggle on my offside (1,3,5) and every time I'm at the ball I can see him looking at me! He wasn't a good driver when looking forward, so I can only guess what the boat path looked like.
  7. Typically drop at end of each pass. Unless I fall on opener or do something stupid on an easier pass, then I’ll occasionally spin as a way to punish myself.
  8. Really got into Matteo’s and Spraymakers last year. Spraymakers helped my skiing a lot, About to start listening to them again to prepare for the upcoming season.
  9. Anyone able to watch? I can’t get on the website.
  10. What have you used for bindings? With Radar the only readily avail option is the small Prime (size 5-8). My son has size 3-1/2, will this binding work well enough for a beginning slalom skier? Radar does have the smaller TRA binding, but it's not avail right now. I know that Wiley has smaller bindings, but I'm trying to keep my costs down and they're a bit more than the Radar options.
  11. @ToddL No issue with BG checks for coaches or anyone working at ski school where they’re working with kids. No one has been able to make a legitimate case for why a judge should have a BG check. Can you explain how sitting in a tower or boat puts a judge in a position to do something to kids? Makes no sense and I believe that is the main issue with most members here. Anyway I’m out of this discussion, as it sounds like the decisions have been made. Guess we’ll find out what the ramifications are.
  12. @ToddL. While I disagree with the requirement for background checks, other than coaches, can’t get behind your proposal. Will be way too easy for people not to get the background check and then we’re just eliminating youths from skiing tournaments. How about the tournament organizers disclose whether or not the officials have got the background check and let the youth’s parents decide if their kids can ski. Parents can sign a waiver that they accept the responsibility, crazy thought. I know this isn’t feasible either, the whole BG check is just ridiculous. Also as a father of two young boys that attends tournaments with them it’s not easy , and usually not possible, to judge while I’m there. Keeping an eye on a 5 and 7 yr old, around water doesn’t allow for any free time. Also, when they’re skiing I’m having to help them get set up. Don’t have an answer, other than to get rid of the BG check requirements.
  13. Assistant judges need the background checks also? Guess I had assumed it was just for Regular and Senior. Guess I won’t be helping out next year. Would probably do it if I didn’t have to enter SS# with credit card.
  14. Way back when I was still working on 15 off I had a bad problem of skiing with my hips back, still struggle with it a bit... The coach I was skiing with at the time told me to try and push the handle down in my pull and edge change. Made a huge difference almost immediately. Now I know you can't force the handle down, but what it did for me is to help me keep my hips up, and probably more importantly keep my arms straight. Can't ski with bent arms when you're trying to push the handle down.
  15. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I do have a boom, which made learning on 2 easy, so will use that again for getting up on 1.
  16. @Bruce_Butterfield thank you, great advice and article! I'll be re-reading that for the next few years.
  17. My son skied this past summer on two skis, and fortunately wants to slalom next year! What size ski is recommended for him? Obviously would like to buy something used if possible, just not seeing anything on SIA smaller than 63". On that note anyone have a jr ski you'd like to sell?
  18. Miami Ski Nautique also, just ordered a heater top and was free shipping.
  19. I have a Gateway that I purchased in 2016 for a ZO conversion on 2004 SN196. Had issues with some of the gauges, so ended up replacing them with the Faria gauge conversion kit. New gauges don't need the Gateway so it's for sale. See the listing for more info. https://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?endless=summer&topic=Search&category=Parts_Boat&postid=61324
  20. Glad I’m not the only one that can’t understand a thing he writes.
  21. That’s the results of just the US men, for the Nationals results. The Open will be Nate, Freddy, TGas, Cale and Adam right?
  22. I’d guess 80 cals for a 6 pass set. I know it doesn’t sound like much but we spend most of the time sitting in the water.
  23. I know you said changing boats isn’t an option but why not? You can spend countless hours and potentially making some dangerous changes for a minuscule improvement? There are 196’s, Malibu’s, or Carbon Pros out there that will solve everything and be stock. I know it’s a hassle buying and selling boats but for your situation well worth it.
  24. Mark, me and a couple guys ski in Bozeman at a private site. Not a club, and we’re the only ones with permission but we can take occasional visitors. Send me your contact info and I can pass it on to one of the owners of No Wake Lake in Helena. Don’t think they have a club anymore but they’re usually pretty good about trying give a pull. Justin
