  3. I built one for my 66 Nautique with 2 3/4' pieces of marine plywood glued and screwed together, cut, shaped and the edges rounded. Then, I took it to a fiberglass shop and a friend wrapped it in fiberglass and gel coated it. Then I put boat carpet on it. Found some old MasterCraft platform brackets and voila. That was in 1997. No repairs since. total cost was about 275.00
  4. The ONLY good thing about winter is that it makes you appreciate summer more!
  5. The days are getting longer! Only 40 days til' the weather prognosticating rodent shows up in Punxatawney. Pa. to predict the 2013 ski season weather. Only 85 days til' the first day of Spring. AND 75 days til' Daylight Savings! Think positive!

  9. Happy Birthday Horton! (However old you are) Always remember: "You are only as old as you act"!
  10. My Name is Ham Wallace. I am a public lake skier from Nashville Tennessee. I am a "Lake Person". I love the lake. I don't mind skiing in bass boat wakes, wind, jet ski wakes, rollers or glass. I enjoy my lake time and especially after skiing, hanging out with my buddies. I have been skiing for 54 years, slaloming for 52 years and competing for 48 years and have competed in the past 46 consecutive nationals. I am a Sr. 3 Event Driver, Driver Committee Chair for the Southern Region and President of the Tennessee water Ski Association. I am still unsure if I am a slalom skier that wants to be a jumper or a jumper that want's to be a slalom skier. I am sure that I am not a trick skier. I have known Horton for decades, but, please don't hold that against me. I hope to keep on skiing for many more years. I really enjoy all the Ballers and friends!
  11. My Christmas list: 1. Health 2. New wraps on both sets of my Wiley jump bindings.(They are getting old and cracked from lack of use). 3. A new A-3 4. Happy Wife and Kids. 5. Sunny and warm. 6. A headwind.(jump term). 7. My wife to go to the lake just once. 8. The Titans to have a winning season. 9. Alabama to slide in to the BCS Championship game.(They would win it) 10. To spend a long weekend at some great swerve site with all the fun ballers. If you are too serious, forget it.
  12. You Man-Speeders yet forget: We did it from 13-35. We still ran man speed when required and if required for another 10 or so years. They took man speed from us both slalom and jumping. It ain't our fault.
  13. Seems like there is a relation to Speed in Angle. You can speed a ski up with a shallower fin, but you reach a point that the "down course slide" will slow your progress down. Then again, there is a real difference in "fast" and quick". Fast usually is perceived when proper angle is established. Quick is more like the 1st generation Monza which was amazing, but, had a good case of the "dart-ass". They were great after your initial "turn in" at the gates. The establishment of angle is the real equalizer. The newer rockers and softer fore bodies allow for better rope management. i.e.: tighter lines quicker. (or less slack).
  14. I will send you a fin if you wish. Welded wing and all. You have to take a hacksaw blade and cut out the slot so that you can slide it in from the tail. I have several.
  15. Saturday in Nashville. Temp got up to 82. Water at Percy Priest Lake was 53. I thought they said 63 and left rubber at home. Wind whipped up as a front was bearing down on us from the west. Had a good set in the white caps(small ones). Then a few frosty ones. Pulled all the boats out and drained water out of engines.(just making sure the hoses would come off, I hate crawling around under that boat cover in 20 degree temps at night). BUT, the end of the week looks promising for a set or two, IF, I can locate a driver. It ain't over yet!
  16. ZO now. I love it, but I really loved AccuSki, PP and hand drives. My favorite of all was the PP 6.0.
  17. Still rocking in Tennessee. Lake People are alive and well.
  18. Larger handle. 1.024". Tried it all. In the past 53 years of slalom skiing, i have tried it all. 2 pr gloves, gloves, gloves and liners, gloves liners and duct tape, athletic tape, etc. Go big. My hands look like girl's hands after the entire season.
