  2. Sounds like some good ideas here, but I think the skier requesting to continue at risk is the best option. It is important that both skiers and officials understand the rules. The sport always needs new and involved officials so if you do not hold a rating now, sign up the next opportunity you have and help improve our sport.
  3. I think I sold my 2006 two years ago for around $24k or $25k, guess I should have waited!

  5. But I hear that Shaft barefoots 43 off without a hickup! Take that Chuck!
  6. @Jody_Seal - What would Shaft's approach be to the slalom course and a World Record?
  7. Another thought is to explain to her she needs to always be on an edge. So crossing the wake on edge, then transition to the other edge to turn around the buoy. I have seen this discussed and sometimes gets the lightbulb going.
  8. My biggest surprise was skiing during the winter, in dry suit and unknown to me the zipper came open. Talk about surprise and getting your attention, 45 degree water on the inside of my drysuit. :-)
  9. A few years ago I purchased a 9800 which the top separated from the ski within 60 days of purchase. I returned the ski to Goode and they promptly repaired it. The same thing happened a second time and Goode again repaired (vs. replacing) and said they would guarantee this not happen again, but I went ahead and got rid of the ski, afraid that this would happen again. With that backdrop in mind, I have read a lot of great things about the N1 and have been considering trying one but wanted to hear from those of you who have been riding one for a while about any type quality issues with this ski. Thanks John
  10. Our club is not using it primarily because of cost. I have used the system for registering for Regionals and like the system and how much easier it is for setting up the scoring books. I feel it makes a lot of sense for larger events, such as a Nationals or Regionals, but for local tournaments we are not dealing with the large number of entries, so to save a few bucks have decided not to use it. I would be in favor of using it with no additional cost to the club. I think this could be a valuable benefit to the clubs hosting tournaments which AWSA could provide. Thanks
  11. Anyone have the Women's scores? Thanks.
  12. @ab where do you find the inner tubes (not used much in cars these days)? Thanks
  13. As a skier, father , grandfather, I am very excited that Nate is skiing well and is one of the young men representing this sport. He is polite and humble, not to mention one of the best skiers you will ever see. But I would also mention that there were several young Open skiers at Little Mountain this past weekend who it seems are equally polite and humble and represent our sport well. I think the growth, health and continued well being of our sport is in their hands but even more importantly in each of our hands. I feel we all have the addiction and need to reach out to help with the continued health of the sport. Congratulations to Nate on a super performance.
  14. Cooler Spring than usual in NC. Every time I put away the wetsuit, I need to drag it out again.
  15. It makes them seem more human if they have to work a little like the rest of us.
  16. I think all women are required to drink if they live in Perrysburg (spoken as a former Toledo resident many years ago with a wife that drinks and heaven help us if she tries to drive a boat!).
  17. "Waterskiing, A Waterski International Guide", (Jack Travers, Fernhurst Books Publishing, 1990, Page 46-47) One reference - Another exercise to work on during the early part of the year is two-hand skiing at 14.25 m (28 off) at 4 mph (6km/h) below your maximum speed. Ever since the introduction of the foil, the biggest mistake skiers make is under-pulling. This method of short-line slalom skiing at slower speeds forces you to pull long to reach the buoy yet, because of the speed, reaching the buoy is not impossible.
  18. There was recently a thread on this site where someone documented some advice from a book by Jack Travers discussing using 2 handed passes to help in training and the benefits. I have seen skiers use this training technique up to 35 off. I believe Lucky Lowe is also a proponent of this technique in training.
  19. I have been really happy with skiboatcovers.com as well, agree with the comments above.
  20. Left hand mouse & scrolling on smart phone. Everything else right.
  21. Could not ask for a more supportive wife. In fact, now that it is winter and I'm not skiing, home much more, she says, "don't you have somewhere else to be"! I think there may be some hidden meaning there! After 30 years of marriage I think she is starting to like me or maybe not so much. :-)null
  22. The only way I believe you can improve something is to be involved. Besides the events are fun with a great group of people.
