  1. Boarditup, do you have any web clinics scheduled? I would like to attend one. I like your web-based/CD program idea. It would save a lot of time. I could do the academics at home and they could have appointments for the driving time instead of two full days of clinic (if they are still two days for 3 events).
  2. You all were right. I called Melanie and there was/is a problem with the head of household on the renewal page and they had an old email address which would not validate. She fixed it in less time than it took me to complain to you all. They are still working on the HOH part of the website. I then talked to Traci and she was very helpful with the driver/judge part. We started out at redoing everything which made me cringe but she offered a much less painful alternative. Thanks. Off topic, anyone tuning in to the Marcus Brown/Seth video chat at 6PM PST?
  3. Thanks all, except Horton. I'll call now.
  4. Has anyone else had issues with USA Water Ski being out of touch with what it's members want/need? I just tried to renew my membership and the website would not let me. I have a general policy of not putting money into businesses that have bad websites or poor customer service. A couple issues besides this one annoy me. The ZO issue is ridiculous. We need to promote this sport not kill it with expensive crap. The other is drivers/judges ratings. You don't drive for a couple years and you have to do it all over again in order to volunteer your time for free. I have a few Airline Transport Pilot ratings with the FAA and if I don't fly for a few years, I renew my medical, pass a biennial flight review (showing proficiency) and I am back in the air as if I had never stopped flying. Why does a sport like water skiing require more than the FAA. This is ridiculous. I still drive. I have not forgotten how to judge. Do judges/drivers have to pass an annual medical and prove their vision and hearing are still good enough? Then why do we have to jump through all of these hoops to volunteer?
  5. Great video! It brought back memories of when Horton was a talented photographer. It think he is an oil driller now, like that TV show Black Gold. His wife collects bugs or something. I suspect JT eats them.
  6. Horton, call Mike Martens at Bel Aqua. He is using some uv resistant plastic and rocks on top and rollers are non-existent. You will need a tractor and some serious labor especially for the islands. Is this for your lake? Call me. I do owe your family a bunch and I have a tractor.
  7. I like to see what Horton got and add 1/4 buoy just to annoy him....whether I can beat him or not.
  8. Thomas, thanks. That is how I remember his coaching also. It has been a long time and I was just wondering what has changed/advanced.
  9. Sorry for off topic. Thomas, what is Chet telling you now. Anything new. I have always been impressed with his coaching and have not had a chance to get down there for many years. Anything you can share would be appreciated.
  10. You might try calling Water Ski World in Citrus Heights, CA. Pat may have some. I bought some Talons there less than a year ago.
  11. You guys are crazy!! I skied last week here in Sac and air was 52 F water 45F and that was as cold as I can handle. you are amazing.
  12. MS are you talking about Goode WR? Is it because they all broke and won't be warrantied? J/K
  13. It would be a long week to ski Monday and stick around until Saturday to watch MM.
  14. Don't have any good video but I found this photo taken at a Wet Set tournament. It reminded me of why I don't even try to jump anymore. Sorry about the link.
  15. I am selling my Beverly Hills mansion for $5000. Please send a $500 down payment in cash to my PO Box. Thanks
  16. I was hoping it was a TASER attached to Horton's ski. If he gets out of postion, wham!! 50,000 volts for 5 seconds. Great idea, right? Well the ski companies don't think it's important. But, they don't know John. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/127085/bull_tazed/
  17. You are so weird. You make things up, right Caco?
  18. I believe all of the posts are valid. I can see each person's point of view and I respect them. I have been a drunken collegiate skier puking on the side of the ski site and I have been a lake owner, very uneasy about having collegiate ski tournaments at our site. I agree with Horton about the supervision being important, even if it was Dr. Harsch. I see Eric's point of view about having some room to grow up. Some of the best memories of my life were those college tournaments. I remember the pain of telling the adult (Fritz) that I didn't need to worry about the curfew and paying the price a short time later when he had me up to jump at 7:00am in the fog. The crashes that followed had a lasting impact on my life. I had a new found respect for listening to my elders.
  19. Congratulations! I have heard nothing but good things about you. I am certain you will be the guy everyone wants to work for.
  20. Officer Friendly, I know you will remember to be a leader and trust your subordinates and they will make you proud. Don't be a micro manager or they will hate you. Higher rank does not make you smarter although some may disagree. I have seen some absolute mismangement and stupidity in my years and I have worked for some outstanding leaders (not supervisors, there is a difference). Don't be that guy you always hated. Be the guy you looked up to.
  21. Here is our 2006 Kubota towing our 2000 MC Prostar 190. I don't think we can compete with the previous rigs but I thought it was worth a shot. I was going to show it hooked up to the 1986 K5 Blazer.
  22. Horton used to wear that suit to all his classes and the football games. A lot of students thought we had two mascots, the indian and the drunken bee.
  23. That is one of the funniest things I've ever read!
  24. Did you ever send Skidawg his t-shirt? You lack credibility until we can establish that he actually received it.
  25. Richard, is the sun actually out in Washington or does it just look like it? When Regionals were there, I was cold and they told me it was the warmest week of the year.
