  1. about 9 or 10, on a wooden sea glider 'george athens jr' ski with concave tunnel. Not sure engine size but definately behind a J-Craft and I'll guess a 140 Johnson. I'll dig out a photo and post, should be good for a laugh. Also remember my Dad and his friend feeling pretty proud of themselves as we took the ferry back from Toronto Island, site of the 1980 Worlds that Joel McLintock won overall, (in a speedo no less) because they just purchached the new APEX by Taperflex complete with the Wetboots (one of the first versions of high wraps) Also remember that the skis were both 63", talk about a turn and burn stick.
  2. how does it compare to the boat you did the testing with this spring?
  3. v6 tdi is the way to go. perfect torque and great on fuel. Just don't make it a $30k option like it currently is.
  4. thanks Chad, and yes I have been in touch with Dennis, and he knows the boat I'm in and it too is a great driving and tracking boat with a good strong motor, I know they're supposed to be the same, but mine pull hard up to 5300rpm, so it skis great. Ok the slower speeds are better on the txi, but I ski at 55kph, is there a noticable difference from the lxi to txi? I know tough question, but it's not easy for me to get to a demo boat and I'm going to go through Dennis as he has always taken great care of us. thanks
  5. thanks jody, so Dennis set this one up eh? I bought Dennis' personal 2007 lxi and he did a nice shave on the rudder and it tracks great. Yes, the big boat is perfect for us as we use it a lot and it serves me well for course duty in the am, then typical family boat for the rest of the day. Any opinion on how the txi compares to this one? Also who is the best contact for the 2011 in question? thanks
  6. Jody, I know you ski at and around Pickos ski school, and I see they have a 2011 lxi for sale with the mini tower. I have an 07 of the same boat and am looking to get a newer one and yes with the tower as we're on big water and the kids and guests use the tower a lot. I was planning on going the the new txi, but since I plan on getting the tower and have recently seen one with the tower and it doesn't look like it fits the new windshield well, I started to look at the 2011s and found the boat mentioned above. So, I know you have tried the new txi and thought it was a good boat, my questions are: are you familar with the 2011 at Pickos and is it a solid boat? Is the txi that much better that I should focus on heading in that direction? I know tough questions, but any opinions are appreciated and I have read and respect your opinion and advice. Any others with solid advice I'm all ears. thanks a lot.
  7. kfennell, you have got to be kidding...really? Wow what a small world, I didn't get a chance to see my friend tonight, but will over the weekend and I have sent him the link to your boat. Yes, in Orillia and yes we have had a ski club going for nearly 40 years (started by my Dad and some friends) it's pretty informal and was originally put together simply to hook up like minded skiers. Now we have about 15 members of which about 10 of us have boats. We have a big pontoon boat we use as a home base and run 2 ski boats up and down our courses and formally meet for this every tuesday night.(pretty cheap annual fee and it goes towards course maintenance and gas for the boats that pull) The skill level ranges from learning the course to the Mens3 4th place at nationals who finished behind the Ross brothers and Matt Rini, so he's in good company, but it casual and just for fun and enjoyable and as competetive as you want. It's been a great way to network with fellow skiers in the area and a lot of us get out most nights and every weekend am. We have 3 slalom courses and access to a fourth. they're tucked away pretty good as we're on Lake Simcoe and Couchiching which are both busy and by private lake standards they're huge. Simcoe is about 30+ miles long and nearly as wide. I'm 42, if you don't mind me asking how old is your brother and where does he live and does he ski, or would he like to ski. Were always open to new faces and potential Ballers...I have an 07 LXi, and love it, but am tempted to move to a newer boat for zero off, and while it's easier to move up without too much extra $ and am interested in the TXi, as I have a young family and we use the boat a lot but do get the slalom sets in in the am or quite evenings. Very interesting that you're that far away with a local connection, glad you e-stalked me. (can't believe I said that...kidding.) I'll see what I can do to help cut a deal.
  8. how far are you willing to drive to meet buyer? I'll try to work on a guy in our club looking for one of these but we're pretty far away but would road trip? also what are you replacing with? TXi?
  9. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Radar-Lyric-67-Slalom-Ski-w-Lyric-Boot-RTP-New-/400232994458?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d2fbed69a lyric ski with bindings for $200. my wife also has a lyric and likes it a lot and is just progressing from the mini course to a few balls at the full course.
  10. thanks guys, I've been in touch with skiers pier and I think they have a demo txi and have been filling orders based on it's performance. I'll also get in touch with the edge. As for Paul, we have skied with him for over 30 years and unfortunately he and the local dealers are off on price by about $20k compared to dialed in promo boats that we have been using. I'm all for supporting the local guys but they're about 50% more, its a tough sell. thanks
  11. Anyone know where to get one of these demo Txi's. Ski partner is looking for a new boat and has a 2001 196 he'd like to sell or trade in. He likes the versatility of my 2007 lxi as we both are on big public water and have young families. He's about to buy either a sn200ob or maybe new txi if anyone has any leads. We're in Ontario Canada, so west coast boats may be too far, but willing to travel a bit for right boat. Also considering skiing the big dawg in MI this weekend, so closer to that is better. thanks
  12. Laz, I'm with ya, until the (Go Leafs, Go) Were still skiing almost every night in Orillia, and every weekend am, open offer for a pull if you're ever in our area.
  13. I guess eyepeeler knows but I found the valve at the back of the motor by looking with a flashlight and following the red fuel lineJ.
  14. Oh ya, forgot to mention that this is the only fuel filter on the 340 monsoon.
  15. Ok, I've done it in my 07, easy job. first you must releave the pressure on the fuel line by pressing the schrader valve (like bike tube valve) on the fuel rail and you will need a couple of paper towels to catch the small amount of spilt fuel. Also do this with engine cold. Then in the trunk you will see where the fuel line goes into the pump in the tank, (under small hinged hatch) so you will need a snap ring tool and remove the snap ring at the tank and this will allow you to pull the fuel line up a couple of inches so you can remove the old filter and replace with the new one. Please have lots of rags handy as some fuel will spill. You will need a wix 33299 filter or Napa 3299 is the same one. Having this in your hand will help explain a bit of this as it's quite small and pulls out (needle nose plyers will help) and drops into the location once you remove the snap ring and pull up on the fuel line. You don't need to remove anything in the trunk as you can access this from the small hatch. You don't have to remove the fuel pump either as it's much easier and less work to simply pull the snap ring off and exchange filters. Total is about a 5 minute job that I do every other year. It is a bit tight to fit your finger on the schrader valve but it's doable. Also make sure when you re-install the snap ring it's in seated in well as there is about 60psi of pressure on the fuel and will make a mess in a hurry if it's not seated correctly. Good luck and trust me it's easy....I know it's hard to trust a guy that says trust me, but seriously trust me. there may be photos on themalibecrew forum, but it's simple. good luck.
  16. I wear a garmin gps heartrate watch for biking etc... I'll check to see if it's fully waterproof and give it at go. scoke, what are the calories during a typical set based on your hrm? thanks
  17. anyone know of any from last year or closeouts?
  18. buddy in our ski club is looking for a senate c, he's 185lb and working on 22 off. anyone have any? thanks.
  19. I didn't know you could ski on Oxtonge, it's just past the Algonquin Outfitters at the west gate of the park? It's a nice size lake so I hope you can ski it, I don't have any specific knowledge, just thought it would be limited to small hp or no motors at all due to it's proximity to the park. We have one of our courses in Couchiching and will be putting in our 2 club courses in Simcoe in the next week, so if you're around shoot me a message.
  20. Anyone have any knowledge re: the aforementioned boat on ski-it-again http://www.ski-it-again.com/php/skiitagain.php?topic=Search&postid=14637 as it's being offered by Central KY boats and I understand that he is a broker for several sources. I also understand that it had to be repowered for some reason. If anyone knows this boat or one similar please let me know, I'm trying to help a friend bring one back to Canada. thanks
  21. thanks guys, so I think I'll need some mediums. Andre, where did you get yours from? I'm in Canada, but will be heading to Fla at the end of Feb, so I can have them shipped to my destination, unless you have a good line on them in Canada. thanks
  22. Anyone have the radar/ho lock gloves try the masterline pro locks. I'm looking for size comments as I have pair of the large ho locks and they get a bit loose and am wondering how they fit compared to the ml prolocks. Anyone with knowledge, I'm looking for suggestions. thanks
  23. Hey Johnny Block, I think I got one of your old boats. a blue and white lxi from D Kelly and I think he called it the sweetwater promo boat. ever ski that one? we love it up here in the north but it's in bed for the winter.
  24. chef, I'm hoping that I can get my girls interested in the tournaments, then I'll be going because they're involved, and since I'm there I will also ski and think it would be a nice event for us. Right now they're 3 and 5 so I'm a couple of years away, but that is a big reason why I will start trying to get myself to tournamnets is to get them interested in it, as I would enjoy it much more if they're involved. any advice to help get the young ones interested without pushing too much? thanks
  25. than, I agree they would be fun, but I think it would be more fun if there was more than 1 in your division? I'm sure you agree, we just don't have enough m3 at our tournaments... it's really not much of a competition without competitors. that's why I'm hoping to make it to the ballers bash, to participate in a fun tournament!
