  1. I think they did that for a year or two, but not the case anymore. You can use a higher speed, but you will not receive the extra 6 buoys. Rule 10.06. A skier may elect to start at a speed higher than his division maximum speed, up to his respective Open Division maxi-mum speed and may not return to his division maximum speed on subse-quent passes. Any passes skied at that higher speed shall receive credit for buoys as though they were being run at his division maximum speed.
  2. Best ski I have ever ridden. The ventral just makes it even better. No idea where my fin is. I liked it right out of the box.
  3. Not much lower than a base 200 either. It does ski nice though.
  4. Isn't this a similar reason as to why we no longer have hot showers as an option on our boats? I heard someone scalded their junk by not testing the temp before shoving it down their drawers.
  5. True, thanks for the input. I'm going to try what I have for now, but next time I'll give the 3870 a shot.
  6. I have never had a problem with the DL adhesive failing and I use 3540 (the indoor stuff). I just have a problem with the mating surfaces releasing with 250/250. The weird thing is that some batches work great, some don't work at all (insert MS's comments here...). Like I said, I have at least 80% of both surfaces covered with brand new black/black 250 and it partially released on an easy turn. I, like Ed, had to cut around the hardware so it isn't raised up. If you read the 3M tech specs, 3540 has a much stronger holding power than the 3870. I've got some 400 coming in today. I plan on adding a total of 12" in certain places (back and front). If that doesn't work, I'm through-bolting the sum bietch to the ski!
  7. Thanks Shane. I've tried the 400/250 before but it seems the 400 just crushes the 250 since it is so dense. Or, maybe that's me! Maybe I'll try it again.
  8. Am I the only one having trouble with dual lock? I went 4 years with zero issues using the clear 250/250. Last year I could not get it to stick despite several batches. I switched to the black/black 250 and it worked great. This year with the new ski, I put new DL on and it was releasing too early. I just had all new stuff overnighted. Took my time putting it on. It partially released yesterday on an EASY 32off turn. I have a tournament this weekend so having more overnighted to me. This time I ordered from H2Oz, but they use the same thing I've been putting on. Details: SJ3540 (black/black) from itapestore.com about 80% of the plate and ski covered (should be more than enough), I'm 170# I apply it to the bottom of the plate. Then mate up the other side to the bottom of the plate. Pull off the backing and lay the entire setup on the ski. Yes, MS we know how you feel.... Hoping to get some advice as to what I'm doing wrong. I'd switch to a different setup, but I can't find anything else I like. The good thing is that I'm getting proficient at removing the old stuff! Help!
  9. Another believer here. Used to visit chiropractor 2-3 times a month during ski season. I only went twice all last year. As MS said, you don't need to the $400 one. Just get one that is sturdy and comfy on ankles. You're not on it more than 1-2 minutes anyway.
  10. Not much you can do. Glucosemean/Condr/msm seem to help some of my other joints, but not my knee pain. You can hit the gym and work all the muscles around the knee to help support it. Leg extensions, hamstring curls, squats, leg press, etc. Just go light weight / high reps.
  11. Bruce, I'd say they are very similar in cross course speed. On side turn is about the same. For me, the Nano accelerates out of my offside turn a bit better. I can 'feel' where I am in the course a little better with the Nano, but the A2 may be a touch more stable. With a bad turn, the Nano will still grab more angle. Another guy in our club tried the A2 and really likes it; he's on an RCX now. I was surprised I was so comfortable on the A2, never been a big fan of HO skis. This one is impressive though. Thanks again for sending me that Reflex ankle thing. Unfortunately, my ankle is beyond everything I've tried.
  12. I was pretty impressed with the A2. Had I not liked the Nano so much, I could see me riding it.
  13. Used to use 13". Switched to 12" b/c it is almost impossible to fit my head in the 12".
  14. 178amp. Not sure I trust their chart. Went by what I thought based on talking with everyone around here.
  15. Well, I certainly can't touch that! It's been a tough year for me. Hurt my ankle rock climbing (torn cartilage we think). Combine that with riding my old '06 X5 that is completely worn out, I think I only ran a couple 35s this year which is ridiculous. I was down a full pass and didn't really enjoy the thought of skiing. First set on the Nano and I went right through 35 with no effort. That included running over a buoy which made me a little late going to 4 ball. No problem, ripped 4 and early at 5 and 6. Ran 3 35s with almost no effort. Had some good looks at 38, but only having tried it a couple times this year, my timing is off. I did have some nice starts though. The thing I like about this ski is that it keeps the speed up at the end of my offside turn. All of the new skis do that for me on my onside, but this is the first that does it on my offside. My offside turn has always been aggressive and most skis stall at the end. This was putting added pressure on my ankle. The Nano just keeps accelerating. Last year I was on a 63" Mid which was too short. It worked well till 38 then would shut down too early. It also did not accelerate out of my offside turn like this 65 Nano Mid. Too early to tell how it will be a 38, but I'm optimistic.
  16. Thanks Ed. Holy crap this ski is impressive!
  17. Any comments on boot position for the Nano Mid, 65? I've seen 28.75 to 29.5
  18. I've skied and driven it a few times now (promo guy in our club). Closest wake to the 200 out there right now.
  19. Relax your hands around the turn. If you cannot open your hand and have the handle stay there, you are not free of the boat. Taught to me by Carl Peterson.
  20. Can you post a picture? Mine don't have that, but I've been looking for something to keep my ankle (injured) from jamming forward on a hard offside turn.
  21. I got crushed on my '08 Nautique. Since the 200 came out, I've done very well. My '10 sold without advertising and my '11 was 'pre-ordered'. There is always a little worry since these things cost so much money, but knock on wood, the 200 is selling. I think people that can spend that much for a boat are not effected as much by the economy as the rest of the world. They also have a passion that pushes them into having the latest and greatest (I'm certainly guilty of that one). Thanks John and Larry for this service!
  22. And you're saying rubber doesn't react to dramatic temp differences? How much rubber is safe? How tight? What laces? How long before it is worn out? None of this is an exact science. Buddy of mine broke 7 bones in his foot with a rear toe plate. I always say pick what you are most comfortable with and which ever releases the best in your most prominent fall. OTF is my most common fall, so the dual lock works great. I've skied in 50F water and 95F water and not noticed a difference in my DL.
