Can’t wait to see the new boat, and hopefully one on my lift next spring! The freeboard argument is irrelevant to me. With the proliferation of wakeboats on most public lakes, an additional inch or two doesn’t make the difference. You need an ocean going vessel at 2pm on a Saturday. We’re lucky to have access to a pontoon for the family/ friends cruise. And the prostar can’t pull tubes!

I’m headed to look at a used boat today. The seller has advised that it has 4-5 dime size “nicks” in the gelcoat under the waterline. They are factored into the price of the boat and with a white hull, I’m happy to do a DIY repair as long as they are purely superficial. Is there any signs I should be looking for to visually indicated that they are more than superficial?

I put Tumacs covers on both my 05 Mastercraft and my co-owned CarbonPro. I’ve been thrilled with both. Waterline protection, great quality and priced right at $495. My teak platform looked great all last season.

@Roger - you forgot “only automatic” from your list of 2020 Vette shortcomings. With two kids to put through college sports cars will probably drive themselves before I get one anyway. Sad to see another manual dead and buried.

+1 for Sunstream. We have 2 at the pond and 2 at my family’s lake house. Oldest is 20+ years old and works as well as the newest one. Not cheap but they are well worth it. Only issue we have had was nicking a hose or two, and that was operator error.

Awesome boat! I had an 89 that looked a lot like that but with “raspberry” pin striping. 16 awesome summers with that boat. Sold it in 2006 for $6500 with double the hours and in need of some interior freshening. Pretty sure the kid who’s parents bought it put it on some rocks within a year.

Orangetheory fitness 5-6 days a week for the past 20 months. In the summer, I often catch an OTF class and 2 sets of slalom by 9am. Definitely improved my consistency by improving core strength. WaterRower is the secret ingredient for sure! Lots of little competitions and benchmark challenges have kept me engaged.

The course on the public lake where we spend many of our summer weekends hasn’t been floated in 2-3 seasons due to conditions (other boats out early) and required maintenance. Every winter starts with good intentions of tackling the repair piece through the ice, but life tends to get in the way. Doubtful I would use it much anyway due to conditions. The two sites I ski at regularly fit into the busy to very busy category on a weekend with good conditions.

2 Alta/Snowbird trips on deck for 2020, unless I can convince the Super Bowl trip to divert to Jackson. Looking forward to getting back on the snow!

My wife and I go to Orangetheory fitness at least 5 days/ week year round. After 20 years of religious home gym use with elliptical, treadmill, free weights, and structured workouts, I was amazed at the gains I made in a more structured “coached” environment. They do regular competitions to add a gamification element that really helps us stay motivated and engaged. Locations worldwide so I just drop in whenever I travel. Everyone plateaus eventually, but my current plateau is 10-15lbs lighter and much stronger than when I started. I’d like to think my skiing consistency has improved as well. 250k calories burned since June 2018 and a drawer of board shorts that are now too big.

A perfect day of either is tough to beat! Knee deep powder or better takes it by a hair for me. Getting to ski alongside your kids, spouse, buddies, etc is a really cool advantage for snow skiing. This time of year, I’m always extremely excited to get on the snow. Come March/April, the excitement shifts back to the buoys.

Clearly, I was on the wrong ski most of the past 40 years. Maybe that’s my excuse! I did have the phantom and CDX (as well as the Mach1), these never really worked for me, but I didn’t really understand ski setup or frankly the correct way to ski the course at that point. Still lots of room for improvement in both categories today. The first game changer for me was the D3 X5, and I suspect I could bolt onto one of those today and feel instantly at home. I also think the Connelly F1 and the Radar Vapor have had a huge influence on the sport. Never tried a Goode, always prices just above the “beg for forgiveness” threshold with my CFO. I have ridden the C75 and that feels like it will make the list someday once more are out in the wild.

@jercrane - while I’d love to take credit for this, the real genius behind the design is 2018 Men’s 9 National Champion, George Adams!

@ali- no need to sell the extra LFF. I know a ski shed you can store it in, no charge! Their might be a few LFF skiers that “borrow” it from time to time...

Don’t forget the upgrade to the bigger Wallypump. A must if you are plumbing it to shore.

We have 2 of Skip’s covers (Tumacs) and they are fantastic. One for my 197 that has been on for a full season and we just added one for our CarbonPro. Great cover at a great price.

@nando - I have the 2 buckle cuff and the z-buckle in the forefoot. Not sure you really need 3, 1 is probably fine. I did switch out my top buckle to a more consistent m2 buckle so I always get the same tension. The 2nd cuff buckle is too long to swap. As for the z-buckle- I snatch it shut with basically zero tension so it isn’t doing much. I never cinch the laces. @ali has 1 buckle but he does snug his laces.

@Nando- I’ve been on the EVO for 5+ years. @ali and his wife run it too. It’s held up well for all of us. We were both on the FM quattro previously. The simplicity of the release is great, and it is much lighter than the Quattro system. I’m currently running it with an r-style rear boot.

I have experience with both accusink and Wally. Really cool concepts and Wally was really helpful. My only counsel is that while you are generating you budget for pieces and parts, set aside triple that amount for gifts, trips, jewelry, etc for your wife. The hours that i’ve spent working on air pressure sinkers are countless and those were factory spec.

Had the opportunity to watch @Than_Bogan on the ski this weekend for his second set on the c75. Ski comes around beautifully and he ran a low drama, low effort -35. I was shocked when he told me that was the first one of the season. Hoping I can get him to come up to the pond soon so I can try it!

@Deanoski - I’m 6’ 181# and on a 67” getting into mid 38. @ali leaves his 66” in our ski shed, so I might need to experiment and report back! Too bad he’s the wrong foot forward, otherwise I could just slide my liners in and go. Long/shallow is working well on this ski

@Skibabette - I have (2) 59” skis that we have outgrown. One is the Protour mentioned above, which is basically a combo ski. Super stable, both my kids loved it but it runs out of gas quickly in the course. The 2nd is an Obrien elite 59”. My oldest son was awesome on this ski and rode it for his first nationals. My youngest didn’t really take to it early enough to ride the elite. It’s a great turning little ski! I’m ready to part with either or both, as I just ordered a TRA for my 10 year old.
