  1. Is it a promo? If so ask for some phone numbers for others he has sold boats to. I have had really good luck with U-ship on the trailer, no flat beds. Go with a transporter who has good experience reviews, even it it costs a little more. Make sure the shipper is insured. As Ted mentioned above, the tournament ski boat market is a small world, bad word would quickly circulate, as does good word:) Dave
  2. I've never been in a car, truck, boat, mower, etc. and thought to myself, gee I wish I had less power:) I often wish I had less weight in a boat though, so the stronger, heavier motor would get a +1 for power and likely a -2 for weight. With the all aluminum 6.2 DI already having fantastic power with less weight than the old small block cast iron Chevy, I think that is actually the sweet spot.
  3. In the spirit of "Pass he handle day" today, if you are close to St. Louis, you are welcome to come out and ski with me on a private ski lake behind a new Ski Nautique. Dave WWW.LakeofDreams.ski instagram @skiinxs
  4. I have five sets on mine and am very happy with them. I previously had a couple crashes where I came partially out of my Vapor Carbitex double boots and tweaked my knee a little. I have never really trusted that they would release when needed and was running the tops very sloppy loose, which I am sure was reducing edge control. I decided that the cost of the MOB system was significantly less than my health insurance deductible and used that as justification. I can now run my boots tight at the top and ski with confidence instead of tentative. I have been able to ski right up to my recent average with them. As a side note, I tried to convert to Reflex Supershell 2's last year and literally couldn't get up on the ski. My problem, not the bindings as I think they caused the ski to cant at an angle.)
  5. 150' to the dock which is about 30' from the 600 (jump course) and 50' from 2 ball. Bed is about 75' from entrance gates (which I can see out one of the windows when in bed:) ) Just don't ask how far of a drive it is to work.
  6. Set up another friend on one today, he loved it, solved most of the issues he was working on. Only one ball missed after running double passes 22 through 35, this was his first set of the day and better than his typical first set. He is the 6th person I have set up and pulled at my lake, all have bought one or are planning to buy one, nobody disliked,
  7. Using the new rope all spring and encountering an old rope at a tournament was not fun. Will either have to take a few sets before the next tournament using an old rope or skip skiing and just drive.
  8. @Ed_Johnson K&N HP 3001. All PCM's in recent years use the same remote oil filter adapter, so they take the same filter. It is actually a standard Ford type as in Motorcraft FL1A.
  9. I average 5 changes/ year and really like the K&N filters. (on PCM)
  10. @powbmps Your feedback is very similar to what I heard from our participants last weekend. This was the third year in a row that we hosted a swervin' weekend at Lake of Dreams. There were many kids (and a few adults) who learned to ski for the first time as well more experienced skiers who learned new skills and received useful training advice while they had a chance to try out the new Ski Nautique. Natalia provided excellent coaching, as did Ryan and Zack in past years. Add in the lunch, snacks, and t-shirt all FREE! I have to commend Nautique for stepping up and dedicating a lot of resources to sponsor these events. This is a very laid back, enjoyable atmosphere where many newbies are hanging out with skiers of various abilities. This interaction also helps them learn more about the skiing community. If you are anywhere close to one of the remaining weekends I encourage you to sign up. If it is full, show up anyway, they may be able to work you in. (I was able to work in 6 additional skiers), but even if you can't ski, you can hang out with the less experienced skiers and be an ambassador for the sport.
  11. I finally had a chance to ski a couple sets with my old fin then mount up the Whisper fin. I am very impressed by the way the ski now finishes the turn with the tip down and is much more consistent hooking up. Very smooth. I am sure this will make me a better skier this year. Feels like an upgrade to a great new ski for much less money than a new ski. (I am currently on an Arc-S)
  12. They certainly look nice but I would be afraid of a big roller dropping the rub rail over the top of the dock on the way down. I don't like anything touching the gel coat no matter how soft it starts out. Do they make any vertical pads that can go over a 4×4 for rub rail contact only?
  13. Yes, but you should verify overheating with thermomelt sticks or a good infrared thermometer.
  14. @2Valve Are you sure it is overheating or are you dealing with sensor/ sender issues?
  15. Marine batteries have a tougher build and you want a starting, not deep cycle battery, as has already been mentioned. If you are worried about starting after a lot if stereo use, a second battery would work, but extra weight is not our friend. Instead, you could get one of THESE. Pretty light, you could throw under the observer's seat, and in the back of your tow vehicle when not using the boat for other emergencies.
  16. Maybe you should verify actual temperatures with some thermomelt sticks, verify if that is the problem or rule it out.
  17. Look on top right front of the engine under the big plastic cover.
  18. I was never a fan of the crash pads and avoided them like the plague for years, due to the whole issue of getting the cover on and off if a storm would come up while towing, but I have to say the new design rocks! All you have to do is turn the turnbuckle (which is very easy to turn) to move the crash pads away from the boat and back. For those that like to go in deep and float on, they are an advantage as they come down low to prevent the bow from coming in under a bow roller. They would be even better if they came down even lower;)
  19. @Bruce_Butterfield totally agree with that statement. Most boat trailer tire blowouts (at least on ski boats, not 4 ton barges) are from dry rotted tires.
  20. If you are coming in under the bow stop, you have the trailer in too deep. The 196 doesn't have the spray deflectors on the bow that the newer boats have, so no issues damaging the hull and trailer when not floating on. This is assuming that you aren't using a crazy steep ramp.
  21. @ScotChipman1 The Acme 1458 - 14x13 (jump prop) is the only approved 3 blade on the Nautiques. Great jump prop but I found it brutal the last time I slalomed with one, but that was behind a 200. I just had it on my 19 Ski Nautique last week pulling jump, I will have to check it out for slalom on this boat.
  22. If the trailer is designed for the boat, go with the sticker pressure. To much air could abuse the boat with too stiff of a ride. Same deal with the tire pressure sticker inside the door of your car or truck, unless you are carrying more weight than normal on trailer or boat.
