  1. @usaski1 Thanks I will disconnect the timer map the course and see how that works. I just read in the manual that it stated you may hear the beep prior to entering the gates once the course is mapped but this is normal. Made me a little nervous that it may be a little bit less exact than the magnet pick up. Using the timer the beeps occur exactly at the point the pylon is next to the bouy's and the times without a skier have been spot on. It's been to windy to actually try it with someone skiing well.
  2. Anybody know what the effect of mapping a course with SG that has magnets may have? We have an entrance gate magnet that is missing from 1 direction into the course and I do not pick up readings at the moment so the times are screwed up in that direction. Until we get it fixed I was thinking of using the mapping feature. However I see that the manual says if you map the course then disconnect the smart timer. Anybody mapped a course that has magnets and also left the smart timers on? Just wondering since I would suspect the smart timers are more accurate/realistic of the course. However I don't know which would have precedence if mapped and also smart timer signal present. Sorry it's not really Z-box related, hopefully I can get to that later.
  3. It was Jim Leach and it was Warman so that much was at least correct!!!
  4. Found it! It was Rwskier and had a comment don't leave a camera in the boat.
  5. There was a video posted along the lines of someone gets a new ski to try. The video then shows them in a red and black dry suit on a red bottomed syndicate that then goes out the front after rounding either 1 or 3 ball. I saw it a couple of days ago and now cannot find it. I think it was at either Warman lake or the Bro Ho. I think it was Warman because I believe the skier is the person who was smart enough not to ski in the Warman video with the ice sheets. It may have been Bro Ho though. Anyway the reason I am looking for it is that I hope to get a copy of a video of myself doing the same move last week end. I was hoping to compare and see if the reason I did it was essentially the same body positioning off of the bouy that was in that video. Anybody know where that vid is? Thanks
  6. It looks like both run's are going East to West in the video's. At least that's what it looks like from where I see the buoys on Google Earth at the base of Provo Municipal Airport. The boat certainly sounds like the video's of zero off and the one boat we have at our lake that has ZO. Thanks for posting the video and audio very enlightening.
  7. Great Cake what was the celebration?
  8. It's amazing how that term seems to sum up a lot of distinct qualities in a person. I can't think of another term that is so apprepo.
  9. @Brent Are you by chance of English origin? You use a very Un-American descriptive term of the bloke annoucing.
  10. Inside Z-box, search accelerometer to get it.
  11. There is a thread on here were somebody took one apart. Everything you would like to know is answered there. Search for Zbox.
  12. JD, I scored the blue one, paypal has been sent. This should work good under my drysuit.
  13. Makes sense now. I though MS was a lady. Is that considered picking on?
  14. John, I may be missing something here but I am not sure what that means. Sorry !!
  15. Just saw the reply sent via paypal. Thanks.
  16. Looks like a really spruced up Gekko GTR22 with the support behind the windshield and the embedded ski platform. The engine box also looks to be high in the boat the same as the Gekko.
  17. If the governing body that makes decisions don't use it then if it's a problem they don't need it will be gone. Unfortunately this seems to be for them a take the easy way out scenario. My advice would be to stay off the radar.
  18. Can I get one too! Let me know how to order. Hi Chuck, Hopefully skiing is going good for you.
  19. ktm300 makes a good point. Does max load equate to when maximum acceleration occurs? If that is so is our intent to get as far back to the wakes as possible before loading the boat?
  20. Whats wrong guys, This boat was made to make all other boats look good. I agree it must be a have's boat in such that they must have another boat they actually use.
  21. Jody, I second that. I can only at my very best ski 5 at 15 off at 34MPH. This is after 4 years of being "serious" about it. I do not believe that my inability has anything to do with the particular speed control as i can do just as badly behind a ZO, SG or PP classic. So from my point of view the getting people into the sport is not gated by the speed control. However the thought of even trying a tournament were I have absolutely no idea of how the boat is going to feel and how bad the one ball is going to come at me keeps me from even thinking about joining the tournament slalom ranks. So maybe that is were the wall is at from a speed control point of view for a lot of skiers. Just my opinion.
  22. @Than I think I agree with your posting on the control's system perceived ability to quickly adapt given the amount and accuracy of all of the data available to it (GPS, accelerometers and CPU frequency). On the control side it would seem that the system (boat, motor, prop etc) can be controlled quickly enough, so as some one else pointed out it is the algorithm that the system uses that everyone is really commenting about. It would appear that the next version would need some sort of learn feature to understand how to compensate for a particular skiers style. I think from Scokes description of the ABC 123 that is ZO's attempt at emulating such a feature that is currently not viable. I could see that there may be in the future a mode were you could dial in your particular drive characteristics and then download these to an external source that could upload the pull characteristics to the tournament boat for your run's. As long as the time is in spec there could be no complaints that the pull was not what you were used to. How much angst would that create in the tournament world!!!
  23. Keep it under 50 lbs so as to not attrach extra baggage charge attention.
  24. @danbirch, Thanks, that's what I thought, I was just looking for confirmation. I am trying to figure out why the needed addition of an acclerometer in the Z-box to get PPSG to better emulate ZO. I am guessing it has something to do with providing information on the actual deceleration caused by the skier and the resulting acceleration provided by the engine. Scokes information also gives credence to the idea that the trip point for A, B and C could be supplied from the accelerometer. Some people here at work that use to design GPS chips are thinking it has something to do with vector calculation between the Doppler-speed-based NMEA-data sample acquisition points. The math for that is way more complicated than I am willing to dig into for fun though!!!!!
  25. Does anybody know if a zero off boat running the course without a skier still revs at every bouy? ie. do you still get the familiar 6 audible rpm increases as you go through the course? Looking at Scoke's explanation I would suspect that you do not. Also I really like the graphical explanation of why ZO and PPSG feel different.
