    PCM 6.0 oil

It can be a big deal in the new engines. If you use one of the high zinc oils that used to be preferred years ago in a catylitic converter engine you will have failure of the cats. With only 4 quarts of oil in engines that consistently run near there capacity it is smart business to choose wisely. Then put a ton of hours.
  2. I have broken dozens of them. Pretty much broken them from all major brands. It has been my feeling that they don't seem to break down the road if they don't break soon after new. I am skiing now on a 10 plus year old Goode 9900 and I don't worry about it breaking unless I hit something.
  3. I think there is a big difference in the way the boats feel. I am 195 lbs and overturn. I can feel a speed drop in the Malibu especially and the Mastercraft when I load at the finish of the turn. So much so with the Malibu that it is accelerating when I try to get free of the boat. I think this is from their 1:1 transmission. The Mastercraft feels nice when I complete the turn but I can get free of the boat and it feels great. I really like the Nautique firmness but I am an outlier as far as skiers go. I use B2 on the 6.2 and C2 on everything else. I think how the driver steers the boat is a bigger deal to me than the settings. You get a driver late on the wheel driving into you at the buoy and all settings feel bad. I recommmend getting end course video in practice to help make sure the driver isn't the reason why you think your settings are the problem.
  4. Makes no sense at Regionals unless the exception included the Regionals and Nationals. I thought that the qualifying rounds for the Americas Cup was considered the Open Slalom.
  5. Finally makes sense as I found out that the AWSA BOD gave exception to the Elite rules to allow Americas Cup skiers to participate without being subject to the normal rules.
  6. The way I read the rules only the skiers who have an Overall Open Rating and have less than a level 9 rating in one or two events could compete in age division events for placement. This would make a couple skiers in Men 1 ineligible. It is pretty clear but I heard an unsubstantiated report that Jeff Surdey sent emails to the Elite skiers informing them that they could do this. Maybe he can chime in here and clarify things. 2019 is over but there needs to be some sort of explanation of why the rules were not followed and what we should expect for next season.
  7. Nice story. Condolences to the family. What passion he passed to his family.
  8. You are coming off the handle slightly too early at 39. Remember you can not "backside" the buoy nearly as much. It will require you to finish your turn further down course than the longer line lengths and that is okay as long as you establish good angle and maintain correct body position. At 34 I think 39 is all about having a tough mental attitude. You have the tools to do it, keep at it.
  9. I have had good luck dragging a grappling hook perpendicular to the known direction of the course. Pull it up and start putting buoys or milk jugs on it(temporarily.) You will have to access how much work it needs. If all the hardware was in decent shape before my guess is there won't be much to do. You could get a diver friend to find it if you wish.
  10. I want one of the 360’s, $125? Will give you my Ups number to make easy!
  11. Got clarification that the video posted does not include the frame where 5 ball is in between the bindings. When video is viewed at more frames per second the video shows the ball inside ski. That girl is tough.
  12. Great skiing. Unbelievable. Good driving Lyman. I call 4 though. I am part Russian.
  13. Hard to tell how widespread the problem is but one of my GM tech patients said that he has seen more than coincidental failures of the DI engines because of the carbon buildup on the valves. He said that the carbon builds up, then eventually gets so thick a chunk falls off into the combustion chamber and causes failure of that cylinder. He said you can't even get the last bit of carbon off with a wire wheel on a bench top grinder. I am trying not to think about it with our Denali. He said he didn't think any of the treatments/injector service things would help. I know that ford is now running part of the fuel charge from the throttle body to help with this issue in their ecoboosts. I am going to stick with my 6 liter because of this. I have not heard of a marine failure with the DI engines and hope I don't.
  14. I'm a fan of the bubble butt, however the trough and spray at 38 and shorter line lengths are so much better with the 200. With the 200 you don't go through a hole. The bubble butt with perfect pass is a really nice pull.
  15. Looked like you were thinking," I'm not sure what's going on here, but I'm on it". Nice
  16. I say go out and enjoy skiing and don't get caught up with the negativity. A lot of people have fun with this sport even though the numbers are smaller. I had just as much fun with my 83 Stars and Stripes MasterCraft as my new high tech ride. Ski with the equipment you are blessed enough to afford and be proud of it. You don't need a new boat or a new ski to enjoy the sport.
  17. For all the technology that goes into our new generation ski boats, little technology and thought goes into the trailers. I complained years ago to Correct Craft management that they should be building their own trailers and designing them. One of the responses was, "who cares about the trailer?" I think for most of the ideas from this stem from where they are located. In Central Florida, a lot of owners don't even have trailers. Trailers used to be important to me before I had my lift. As a matter of fact most of my worst moments of boat ownership have revolved around the trailers. I think Mastercraft had it right in manufacturing their own trailers. My Ramlin trailer is awful when it comes to loading and unloading my 200. Is built pretty well but too utilitarian in design. I want a trailer that looks like a custom car and functions very well. I just don't know why marketing people don't see this as important. I think most trailer companies scan or measure the bottoms of the boat and make bunks the fit the bottom of the boat and give little thought into what happens during loading.
  18. Sorry Leon didn't know about your accident. The thought of you all selling makes me sad. It's a really nice place. @Bruce Butterfield I've been to Texas you have little to brag about as far as teeth numbers go
  19. Thanks BRY I will pass it on. I would think the increased frequency of speed data would help the 5.7 more than the 6 liter but sometimes things don't make sense. He just is searching for more reasons to drop the money for the switch. Kyle is a big guy that flexes the pylon inches when he skis. I think the rev S with the plus in his boat would be the ticket for him. K I don't know why? All he thinks about is skiing and he is dag gone good at it. He would be a natural for BOS.
  20. Whoever buys this boat needs this Raptor to make it the perfect tow rig. Put some red beadlocks on it.
  21. I have a friend with a 5.7 liter powered Nautique 200 who is not on the board who wanted opinions on how much the switch from the 2 Garmin pucks to the Single puck made on this boat. He has heard that it changes the 5.7 more than the 6 Litre powered boats? I have a 15 6 litre and it did not change the boat at all as far as I could tell.
  22. The single puck is pretty much bulletproof. There were so many frequent failures of the older ones. Also you will need this puck if you want to do software upgrades.
  23. There are factual reasons why the Nautique is more expensive. Is it worth it? That is up to the buyer. The Malibu is a fine quality boat though. I am glad both these companies compete for our business. I will not discuss the reasons on the forum as it is perceived as biased bashing.
