My friend has an 86 supra inboard. He describes a problem he is having with it as follows:
"It's so strange. It started up yesterday and I was able to drive to the boat launch. It will run for a bit, and then cough out from what seems like fuel starvation, and then not start.
We took apart the fuel pump thinking that was the problem, and my cousin actually happened to have the exact same pump in the back of his truck. We ended up not switching them out, but just tightening everything down so there was max suction. He was able to draw fuel from the tank pretty easily when sucking on the hose, so if it's something blocking gas flow at the tank it had moved from the intake line.
I am running premium. I diluted the "old" gas with a 1/4 tank of new gas, and added a can of seafoam."
Any thoughts based on this short description of what might be wrong. I guess it runs great, then all of a sudden coughs and dies. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
