  1. My friend has an 86 supra inboard. He describes a problem he is having with it as follows: "It's so strange. It started up yesterday and I was able to drive to the boat launch. It will run for a bit, and then cough out from what seems like fuel starvation, and then not start. We took apart the fuel pump thinking that was the problem, and my cousin actually happened to have the exact same pump in the back of his truck. We ended up not switching them out, but just tightening everything down so there was max suction. He was able to draw fuel from the tank pretty easily when sucking on the hose, so if it's something blocking gas flow at the tank it had moved from the intake line. I am running premium. I diluted the "old" gas with a 1/4 tank of new gas, and added a can of seafoam." Any thoughts based on this short description of what might be wrong. I guess it runs great, then all of a sudden coughs and dies. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  2. Any thoughts on how this applies at say 32 off and 35 off? I'm in the 32 is pretty consistent and 35 is 1 in 10 stage.
  3. I am trying to find an older used junior slalom to buy for my 6 year old daughter. Probably a 63" ideally but a 65" would probably work. She is just new to skiing on 1, so I don't want to get something too small, but I'm open to suggestions. At this point it doesn't need to be a high end ski, just something with small enough bindings. If anyone has an old one that they'd like to sell (or suggestions on what/where I should get) please let me know. Thanks.

    bimini

I bought one for my boat at I-boats.com. It was $217 with free shipping. It probably isn't as high of quality materials as the ones that are $500, but it works great and has held up well for two seasons now. I bought my dad one because I liked it so much. You just enter the year and model of your boat and pick a color and bimini material and it will be there in 5 days.
  5. What size and/or model ski would you suggest putting her on then? She is probably 48 inches and about 45 lbs? Thanks.
  6. Has anyone moved the bindings forward on the junior vortex slalom? My 5 year old can drop the ski now but it looks like her weight is a little far back to have good control. I recall some other saying they moved the bindings up a couple inches. How far and I assume you moved both? Is it going to throw the kids who will use both skis off to have the binding moved on one? Maye I should just let her try a small real slalom ski...thoughts? Thanks.
  7. I don't change the handle out very often, but can't you just take pull the rest of the 60ft. through the other end of the rope rather than over the handle itself when switching out handles? Might not work in tournaments well. I guess I haven't tried it this way, but wouldn't it work just the same as pulling it over the handle?
  8. I secured my FM handleguard with shoelaces to avoid using the zip ties. I haven't used one before. Does anyone have any thoughts about me using this method? Also, who uses the middle securing strap and who removes that? Thanks.
  9. I would like to buy gloves for my six year old daughter. I found some last year on Overtons or Barts for my niece and nephew, but I am having trouble finding anything in that size now. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  10. I skied at Cory Pickos in April and talked with Regina a few times while I was waiting on the dock. She is not taller than 5'5". Amazing skiing.
  11. Thanks...do you know what the HO model is called... I don't see it when I search? Thanks.
  12. Great. Where do you order the weights from..overtons or barts perhaps? My daughter is great at controlling the skis now but she really struggeled when she was learning and that sounds like a great thing to have for my younger daughter and other kids.
  13. Does anyone know someone who has attempted the course on a Connelly Mid S? My friend is a big guy 6'5 275lbs and he's looking for a cheap ski. He is a pretty beginner skier looking to attempt the course...not going to be running anything besides 15 off 30mph anytime soon I wouldn't expect. Is this ski overkill for him as far as size...is it just too wide to expect to be able to ski in the course at all? Any input woudl be appreciated. Thanks.
  14. Any tips on where she keeps her weight (i.e.) over both feet, focus on putting some weight on the back...it has been so long since I've thought about getting up I don't know how to coach her on this. Thanks in advance.
  15. Thanks...we've done steps 1 and 2 and are now on step 3. Hoping she wants to try it out tomorrow or Friday. Got my 2 year old up on the boom a couple weeks ago...it is a great teaching tool.
  16. Perfect. Thanks. Do either of you use a high fly and shorter rope to give the a little more upward pull? It works great when teaching kids to wakeboard so I have to think it would help for slalom as well.
  17. My 5 year old is learning to slalom. She is very proficient on two skis and is asking to learn to slalom now. She is very close to getting up on a slalom, but hasn’t gotten it quite yet. She can do it on the bootm without a problem but she wants to ski behind the boat. I have been using the slalom from the pair of Junior Vortex skis she uses. This is a pretty wide ski and I think it will be very stable for her once she gets the hang of it. I am wondering if she would be better off using a larger longer ski that has more directional stability to get used to getting up on one and then go back to the junior vortex once she has gotten the hang of it. I am also thinking about using one of the deep V handles on a short line off the high fly. I haven’t tried that yet, so I’d be interested in hearing anyone else’s thoughts.
  18. It actually did turn down a little bit...I think I adjusted it after a fall. I was thinking of doing the same thing though. I cranked it down before I put it on the ski and that helped.
  19. Can he run the course okay on it? What size is he on? I am thinking a 71 for my friend but that just sounds so big...but he is a big guy.
  20. I'm posting a go pro video of me skiing. I'll take any tips that anyone wants to share. Thanks.
  21. A friend of mine is looking to tackle the course and needs a ski. He is 6'5 275 lbs. He will probably never be looking to cut a lot of line, so probably something that he could get through at 15 off 30 mph would be sufficient for a while. With his size, I am thinking he needs a pretty wide ski, even if he gives up a little on turnability. He also is not looking to spend too much, so it really doesn't need to be one of the top end skis we all have. A more all around ski would be fine. Any suggestions for someone like this?

    Boat value

Too bad I told my friend about it before I thought about flipping it myself. He is getting it for $1,000. Oh well, he'll have a good boat to use now.
  23. My dad is about 205lbs, tried my strada and thought it wasn't enough ski. He is rocking it on a 67" Senate C. Same shape as the strada but 0.2" wider from what I understand.

    Boat value

My neighbor is unloading an old 86 supra comp. that runs well and has 1 year old re-done upholstery for $1,000. I told a good friend of mine to buy it. He probably will. I don’t need it, but if my friend doesn’t buy it I am thinking about buying it just to re-sell it. NADA says it is worth $4k but that site usually seems low compared to what boats are selling for. Any thoughts on what it might realistically be worth?
  25. We have left a portable course up all summer on a very busy 2500 acre public lake for more than 20 years now. We have some repairs to do on it from time to time (replacing buoys, buoy lines, occasionally repairing the cable), but we've never really had it destroyed to the point that it couldn't be fixed. It beats putting it in and out all the time. Also, from my experience it is as fast to install a portable course as it is to put the buoys on a permanent course, and then you have the ability to move the course to wherever the wind is coming from to get good skiing...just my two cents.
