  1. Bought some last month for 30 for 3 gallons and will be buying some more next trip to Costco.
  2. Costco had 3 gallons of Delo 400LE for 30 bucks. SM rated. Plan on getting another 3 gallons next time we go if they still have it.
  3. I know nothing about them but it appears I have one sitting in the corner. Never knew the name until now.
  4. Thanks @UWSkier that is something I've been struggling with for years. Without digging up old video I think I've gotten better but that was the first thing I noticed once I was in the boat. My butt sticks out like a bad instagram model.
  5. Thanks, just as soon as the wind goes away and the weekend idiots leave the lake I will work on tha
  6. So this year I have been making a strong effort to lock into my lean more often and also to quit relying on my back foot to drive the ski. Lack of a tired and sore back leg knee tells me I am doing better and on occasion it lets me know when I am getting tired or lazy. Gotten a few pointers from one ski partner but always looking for more. His last advice was to work on getting wider, which I have been trying to do since this video from earlier this week. So coach away..... 32 mph and 28 off (for no real reason than it is smoother than my normal 22 and is eliminating one more thing that I don't have to think about)
  7. @jerrym I've been paying attention to that, gonna take some time and work to break bad habits. Taken a few falls where I put too much front foot pressure, but I can notice when I do it right. Otherwise I talked to my friendly ER doc this weekend and work and am gonna start doing squats, etc to try and strengthen the muscles and cut the pain.
  8. Yeah no of course I don't stretch. At 33 I still think I am 16 and can just go. Though yesterday morning I did take a few minutes to do some stretches...didn't ski until 7pm but my knee did feel better.
  9. Lots of options for those types of docs....but my insurance isn't what it was at Mayo so I actually have to look around. I work with an ER doc who did a sports med fellowship with the Colts and is very active himself, perhaps I will bring him a 6 pack and see what he suggests.
  10. Old HO rtp. I do tend to shove my foot in pretty far and hard. @Chef23 I should but while my local ortho is good his clients are 95% hip and knee replacements. Then again he might be able to at least give a more accurate diagnosis than my x-ray tech self diagnosis of "probably some frayed stuff". @Stevie Boy thanks for the ideas. I will start throwing some lunges in each day and working on stretching. Flexible I am not and chickens make fun of my legs!
  11. Noticed the last few times skiing that afterwards my back (right) knee will be sore. I guess now that I think about it for maybe half of the summer last year it was as well due to a OTF where my back foot stayed in the RTP while the ski augered in. Up until last night I thought it was probably due to getting tired (skiing more than once each time out) and I was reverting to bad habits and using way too much rear foot pressure causing my leg to get tired and make my knee sore. But last night I skied just one time, making a conscious effort to avoid back foot pressure. It felt great while everyone else skied, but by the time we wiped the boat down and made it to the deck for a beer it was aching. I'm sure there is stuff inside the knee that could be trimmed, but that ain't an option right now. So what kind of exercise should I be doing to strengthening around the knee?
  12. That was my first real ski back at age 18 or so. Always loved the looks and spent lots of time on it. Now it sits in the closet of my old room. Keep thinking about pulling it out for something just not sure what.

    Can yours?....

Mine drives for me and will pull friends. She isn't ready to pull the kids yet. There may have been some tense moments last year as she was learning. Best thing we did was take 2 friends and stick them in the boat with her while she pulled about 10 different people.
  14. So not sure if it is the same for course skiers as it us open water skiers, but last summer after about 5 days straight of 2-3 sets a day, the water and sun was perfect for one last shot at great pictures. I skied and said I was done....until I got in the boat and we sat for a minute, I just couldn't let the water be. Anyways I skied probably the best I had all summer, the hooting and hollering type of good, and when I let go of the rope I was SPENT, my body had nothing left, but my mind was beyond happy. All that to preface this picture my father-in-law snapped of me just laying on my back with a content look on my face and the ski floating by me. I had no idea they were even close enough to get a picture or that he even snapped it until a couple months later. Needless to say this is going on the wall. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/yz125x/F799B182-8C39-4551-85FA-9198E53CB074_zpsd8ux0bhk.jpg
  15. Last 5 times or so we have been working on figuring out where to stop the boat front to back in the lift and the bunks have been "settling" or cradling the hull much better. Also helps that as soon as the front starts to come out of the water I hop in and double check. Netting for @thager's idea gets delivered today,PVC gets picked up tomorrow! Excited to quit having pine pollen all over everything.

  17. Thanks @thager Spread the bunks out to about 42 in back and 39 in front. Sits better, but still wobbly. I currently have 9" from the bottom of the front fin to the front cross bar, so with the fin being about 6" I can lower another 2.5" or so right? I noticed the bunks aren't sitting exactly centered and not hugging the hull the same on each side. Is this bad or just the nature of the beast and something I should not worry about? http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/yz125x/C6CFE48A-19DD-4788-BA05-C2D9C2417435_zpsg0h7xmyl.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/yz125x/70DA95C1-B01F-4EDD-99EB-01144922C236_zpsvbmccytw.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/yz125x/82AA7B39-EE14-4532-A3BF-5705C9A26262_zpsykpqhu5s.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/yz125x/09E143F2-4CD8-425A-AB55-AEC52A76D029_zpsgjkupt2p.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/yz125x/11B9C6CD-9705-4FA1-831E-FB51AE285FFC_zpszkfcn2ak.jpg
  18. Thanks guys. I double checked with another bud with the same lift and a 97 Nautique. He has his bunks 41" apart. Think tonight or this weekend we will get the boat off and spread the bunks out and then check clearance for the fins with the new bunk location. Maybe toe the bunks in slightly at the front to act as a stop when coming in.
  19. Year two of having a boat and year one of keeping it on a lift and I am at a real stumping point. First how in the heck do you guys wipe the top of the bow down each time? Currently I have to get in the water to wipe the boat but I can't reach up to get the top of the bow. Also I setup the bunks per friends suggestions, really very skinny. The concern is when the lift is raised (not all the way even) due to the height of the uprights on the bunks the boat feels woobley or shakey while cleaning up inside. I worry that could be an issue with a high wind. The uprights are as low as the holes allow right now but I am thinking I will mark the minimum clearance needed for the fins one night and remove the boat/bunks and drill out some new holes to allow the boat to be closer to the cross bars. Should that help the shakey movement and feel? Last question, there was a guy on here who had hung screen or something off the canopy to block sun, etc. Can't seem to find that thread via search for some reason. Anyone recall what he used or how it was attached? Mhy lift location sees constant sun from about 9-9. The lift is a Shoremaster cantilever. Boat is lower in the pics from wiping down. http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/yz125x/6FA912F6-63F4-4F9E-8E55-017FB41E984B_zpsh1uhbjxx.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg9/yz125x/01EB2E61-22A2-40D7-BF1E-64B6B8FD1B82_zpsa6shkbzl.jpg
  20. Been cold and wet here in northern MN as well. Haven't even put the boat in. Finally bought a lift and it is sitting on shore waiting for Monday when I have help....and it is a high of 60 with clouds, north winds and a chance of rain. This is all great weather for getting projects done but dang it I want to stop being responsible and be on the water.
  21. @Razorskier1 how much will get me a spot in the garage for a twin sized air mattress?
  22. for the first 10 years or so most of my skiing was on an outboard. I just sat on the edge of the gunnel and dangled my feet and ski out over the water. But that was only one rubber with a RTP. On occasion things would get complicated and a ski might bang into the side.
  23. Doesn't help with the ski course part of the sale but you forgot to mention decent windsurfing/kiting. Good luck. Much like Razor I always thought I'd visit in 12 years of Rochester living and never made it.
  24. @bigskieridaho to each their own. My kids were all riding on my dirtbike rather early in life. Water was just one thing where I decided it wasn't worth it.
  25. This is just my opinion and my rule for my kids. Clearly others don't feel the same. Oddly my wife and I were just talking about this yesterday as someone just went through thin ice in a UTV and was strapped in in 8' of water, should have known better but stupid hurts. The topic of car seats came up, and again just me but I don't think even with a rope or a life jacket or whatever, that those are designed to float like a mini boat. Under a year or dang near a year, they simply did not go in the boat. Entirely too many variables outside of my control and too many things that could go wrong. Even with a vest. They were limited to shallow water and being held on the dock. They have an entire life to be in a boat and one summer is not that much in the scheme of life. Now that is my rule for me on a big enough body of public water. Maybe others are making a rule for themselves on a private little ski pond. That said I never bought or will buy something that isn't soft like neoprene. Bugs the kids face way less than nylon, etc.
