I think the mikro-just is invaluable and feel that it really helped fine tune my C85.

Our lake owner needs to use a PowerVest to ski. His is patched together and he has had one on backorder for months, so he is looking for a used one. If anyone wants to part with a size XL, please let me know and I’ll pass along contact info. Thanks.

We have two plastic owls that sit on the bottom corners of the ramp with a strand of fishing line connecting the two of them like police do not cross tape. The owls are supported with rope from the top of the jump. Birds don’t like the fishing line and it keeps them from walking up the jump. That seems to be working well. If you have a golf course nearby, start throwing corn on the greens. That will also help keep them off the jump.

@Killer I’m two seasons in on one of those handles and have been pleased. It finally developed finger indentations, which happens with every handle I have used, and I plan to buy another. I used other Spectra handles but did not like how easily the line could get twisted around something. This only happened as I was jumping in the lake and the rope went tight, but I still did not like how the other one wrapped around my fingers. This doesn’t happen with the ML spectra. Conversely, I know a woman with the same handle and after one season she has a wear spot down to the metal. I use both kevlar and amara gloves, I don’t recall what she uses, but she takes good care of her gear. Nevertheless, stuff wears out.

Brake cleaner was option two if WD40 did not work.

A friend unknowingly had grease on his slalom ski case and I ended up with some in my boat carpet. I soaked the stain overnight with diluted Dawn and then used WD40 to blot it out. I rinsed it afterwards, of course. My son had some black grease or glue stain on his bedroom carpet, so I tested it there before using it in my boat. WD40 worked great in both spots. Add that to the list of solutions.

The ski seems to be fine aside from a battle scar. She PB’d in this weekend’s tournament.

I had similar issues earlier this year when my trim tab got loose. I replaced the lock washers, now it holds the tab fine and drives great, but I have to have the boat well balanced at slower speeds (e.g., 26 mph). At 32 through 36, the balance is more forgiving. Once you get your tab dialed, you may have to manage the weight depending upon the speeds you drive.

@ScottScott the ski is fairly new, it’s a 2022 Vapor and she loves it like it is her childhood dog, so it’s been well cared for. My guess is that it wasn’t noticed quickly and somehow reacted with the outside material. @jpwhit Definitely, that’s on the to do list for Tuesday.

One of the kids on the college team at our lake had her ski out of it’s case to get ready for a set and someone moving gas spilled some and got it on her ski. I don’t know how, why the can wasn’t well sealed, or how long it was on the ski. She tried to clean it but the ski is stained. I know gas is nasty stuff, but does anyone with more materials science knowledge know if she should expect problems to arise or a shortened life span of the ski? I’m mostly concerned with any weakening that could result in breakage and injury.

@UWSkier I’m pretty sure that he is trying hit others that could use gloves in wet environments. These don’t lock your hands into a gripping position like the pre-curved gloves, so I can see the crossover. @C5Quest I think it could done, the back stretches. I think he sells liners on his page.

Pigozzi put his gloves on Amazon for a very nice price with the hopes of getting reviews. I bought a pair of the boar grips and took my first set today. Before my opening pass, i almost felt like I wasn’t wearing gloves because they flex well and don’t have the extra closures. After the first pass, I forgot that I was trying new gloves. The fit was great, I love the flex of the gloves back, and the palms were protective. I simply skied up the line. He still has them on Amazon for a nice price. I suggest giving them a shot.

My BoatBuckles are on year 11 and going strong, but I plan to replace them this year just to be safe.

@Horton do you normally wear mediums from other makers or did you size down?

@BraceMaker that’s a good thought, but in this case the rudder moves very smoothly and that connection seems solid. My attempt to adjust the trim tab to match the other 200 failed. My wife was getting ready to ski so I jumped in the lake and moved it underwater. I must have Forrest Gump’ed into a sweet spot, because it felt better, but not perfect. Next step is to check the rack and pinion. As long as I can drive her opener, I’m good, so I may wait until I have a good weekend to climb under the dash or wait until the end of the season. My old ‘95 observer seat had the base to the floor attached so it lifted and climbing under the dash was easy. Only the seat base lifts on this one, so squeezing under is a pain. I appreciate all the input.

I have a partially torn posterior deltoid. I know a number of you, including Horton, have used the Goode Powervest during injury recovery. For those that have used the vest, does it help with the deltoids even from center line to ball? For those that have torn a deltoid, I wouldn’t mind hearing how recovery went. I’m already in PT.

Update, no real vertical play in the rudder and moving it matches that of other boats. Tightened the connection of the steering cable to the tiller arm to the degree I wouldn’t cause damage. It’s gone from snug to very snug. I still have the issue. Next attempt, I took a little off the trim tab to match that of another 200 at the lake that doesn’t feel loose at lower speeds. Will see how that plays out. After that, I think the only issue could be the connection between the steering wheel gears and the cable. It’s smooth, but maybe there is wear in the teeth.

We watched it when we finally had time to relax and enjoy it. Awesome work. Thanks to everyone at TWBC for putting it together.

What’s weird is that I have over 900 hours on the boat and the issue is new this season. Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll grease the rudder and tighten that nut a bit and report back.
