  1. Oh, I forgot a question...why did you use a 2 handed gate at 32 & 36, but a 1 hander at 34? Is this something you're still experimenting with? If not, pick one and stick with it for the sake of consistency.
  2. My comment would be to compare your head position on your 1/3/5 turn to your head position on 2/4/6. Your head stays up and level on 2/4/6, but it follows your shoulders down and to the inside on 1/3/5 which contributes to what @gregy mentioned above.
  3. I just hope to be on the top side of terra firma at 82! Skiing will be a bonus.
  4. Have her watch a bunch of Seth's youtube videos. He has some good stuff for beginners on up and then it's not coming from you!
  5. The old Marine World site Ed mentions was a trip. Went there several years to watch the pro tour come through. Saw some great skiing because they could get real aggressive knowing they only had to get through 4 bouys.
  6. Prayers sent for the boat pylon.
  7. Where is this being held at this year? More specifically I guess, where is the Pleasant Oak site located?
  8. Look for Seth's videos on the pull out drill.
  9. If it's a "Saturday at the lake" (public), we drive 60 minutes and hope for a run or two on decent water before it turns into a day of tubing, kneeboarding, etc... On a weeknight, we can be at a different public lake in about 15 minutes. It's a 50/50 shot at good water on a week night. It's a 0% chance on the weekend, so we don't even bother and choose to drive to the further lake. No course on either lake. Don't ever take your courses and good water for granted.
  10. Turning becomes much easier as you get better crossing from side to side. Everyone likes a big turn, but I would encourage you to focus on your body position crossing the wake first. That will set up your turn. Open your shoulders to the boat, drop the handle to your waist and get your hips up (rather than being in a sitting position). @ShaneH's advice of trying to straighten your rear leg would be good to think about. Glad you're back skiing after being hurt!
  11. Our youngest isn't a baby anymore and she wants to drive whenever possible!
  12. BTW - interesting looking course with built in land mines!
  13. If there's a lot of HO's (the ski's - get yer mind out of the gutter!) around your club, an S2 might be another option to try. There are definitely a good number of skis out there. D3 has a try-before-you-buy program that might also be of interest. Best of luck in your decision!
  14. Gauges not working sounds like a fuse issue. But if it were a fuse, I wouldn't think you would have any read out or power on the ZO display rather than the "NO GPS" message. I'm sure somebody here will know the cause.

    Sad Day

My guess is not allowing inboards would be for some kind of noise ordinance/concern. Out here, outboards are the ones under attack due to emissions issues.
  16. @Horton, how did the A3 work at 26mph? Might be interesting to hear how a ski designed for the "top end" worked at much slower speeds.
  17. It's all boarders and surfers here with monster boats, full of people, blasting music, going 10 mph, with ballasts full and putting out a wake that would capsize the Titanic. Throw in a hand ful of jet skis buzzing around and it makes finding good (and safe) water very difficult.
  18. Now there's a nice problem to have! How was the water level at Shasta? I hear it's pretty low this year. This winter better be a wet one with lots of snow for Mt. Shasta to make up for this last winter.
  19. Dang it, I didn't log in all weekend and missed your photos @ShaneH. I would love to see them if you wouldn't mind posting them again. Your thoughts on technique are usually really helpful. @Than_Bogan, very cool skiing! My only observations have been mentioned already. That is 1) maybe try to drop the handle down more towards your hips when your stacked and 2) initiate edge change a little sooner as Seth talks about in his video where he's explaining getting the ski wide vs. pulling longer and following the natural path around the pylon.
  20. I had it explained to me by comparing it to pull ups. It's easier to do pull ups with your palms facing you (equivalent to palm up on handle) than palms away from you. Typically, it's harder to achieve and maintain the stacked/leveraged position on the off-side pull. With hands in the "correct" position on the handle, it supposedly puts your hands in the best position to maintain the leverage against the boat and off set the weaker off side position.
  21. Thanks @jimbrake. I'll look you up the next time we're over that way. Your perception isn't that far off for the number of free skiers. Like @jalama says, I probably see one or two other skiers on the water during an entire day on the lake. It's like spotting a dinasaur!
  22. Count me in as one of those free skiers. No course within reasonable distance, so strap it on ride the public water!
