  1. Any chance you can post a picture?
  2. Maybe the trick is to tell her you're shopping for a boat??? Then the ski is small potatoes!!
  3. I wasn't saying to use car parts, use the correct factory parts whatever the application, indmar or pcm or whatever the case may be
  4. @aupatking the trick in auto and truck world was always spend the extra $$ on "real" gm ignition parts, especially the cap, the aftermarket ones were always crap.
  5. Keep in mind you arent bolting down a head bolt or lug nut, a long zip tie along with the screw certainly worth a try, the cap needs to stay put but not a lot of force needed.
  6. Really common in older GM trucks, moisture a bigger deal in a boat, maybe a thin coating of rtv on the bottom of the cap and gently screw it down.
  7. I would be pretty bummed if that continued, some of the best service in the industry through the years
  8. I've swapped batteries every month or so even woth a solar panel, the spare stays on a tender in the house. If you run your hoist off the boat battery you lose a lot of current to the cables and the motor will run pretty slow.
  9. We skied up here in the great cold western new york this afternoon, we are THE last boat on the water, my wife has gotten to be nearly as crazy as me, water is 50, wife is skiing in a camaro spring suit and just starting to complain about her hands, I'll break out a cooler of warm water next time out.
  10. So that's Lake Howard on a random weekday morning?? Looks terrible, don't know how you tolerate all the traffic!??
  11. Oh wait, 16 oz to a lb, now I'm out. The problem is I'm old enough that it's nearly impossible for me to re-learn anything I've known for all my life, you can't even tell me blue or green or graple or whatever it is. It's 15, 22, 28, etcetera. Times???? Nope,
  12. A mile is 5280 feet, that's all i got.....
  13. So, an $800 USED ski that I'll ride every day for 6 months.......or a $490 dollar dry suit that I will begrudgingly wear 4 times??? That's pretty easy math for a blue collar guy on a tight budget......
  14. @MISkier, I would contact them and send it back for replacement wrist seals, they've always been great for such service, often no charge.
  15. I have the same suit with the same problem, really sucks, I HATE dry suits but this one is by far the least annoying and most comfortable. I've been wondering about rubberized spray paint,
  16. You will be very close to Pangaea Puddle, their website has contact info listed, I've always heard awesome reports about the site and people.
  17. Once upon a time one of my ski buddy's did a double spiral tib/fib break while skiing, not only did he make the ambulance techs unscrew and dismantle his precious ho animal boot he made me and his wife remove his shorty wetsuit while turning it inside out and not move his leg/foot.......for the record i'll be happy with those medical shears going to work on my camaro should the need ever occur
  18. My wife is a little more "petite" (I think I'm safe there), she skis at 28 mph 15 off, she's been on a ski that's technically too big forever. She's never had a problem getting it to turn, also keep in mind slower speeds really make it tougher to run a smaller ski.
  19. Some of those pin release deals are freaking voodoo......
  20. I found the malibu catalog from 97, the response was 20 foot, 90 inch beam, tantrum was 86 inch, drafts 16 inches and tips the scales at a whopping 2100 lbs. Fun to drive, was also pretty good on fuel usage compared to other ski rigs. I imagine the running surface very close to the response.
  21. I think if your budget is tight, the condition and hours and price make sense its a decent option, the tracking and wake never held me or my ski buddies back at all. It's a little narrower than the response, I don't remember the exact numbers but something like 80 inch beam for sportster/tantrum and 86 on the response.
  22. I owned one for quite a long while, probably 11 or 12 years, 800 hrs and no major repairs needed, I thought tracking was ok for it's size, only has 2 tracking fins. Wake is tiny but the edges are kinda stiff. The interior is really bare bones but as a result actually used to be our go to boat for a portable. There is no where to hide if it's cold.....or raining, or if the water gets rough. It's a lot of fun, sounds awesome (no mufflers) it drafts like 14 inches or something and is easy to tow.
  23. The proper mindset here is to figure out which ski school is closest to the spot your wife wants for a vacation.......trust me on this.........;)
  24. I've never skied at Chet's school. My inlaws are in North Miami and I'm usually there a week or so every winter, as far as I know McGinnis is the furthest south school on the east coast of Fl. There is a club in Miami but I'm not sure if lessons are available. McGinnis sight is an old quarry site so it's a little more apt to get blown out on certain days but still pretty nice. It was always really convenient for a quick set in the morning before heading to the beach.
