  1. 18.38 gallons of Cutrine Plus or about $698. How much was 100 lbs of Copper Sulfate?
  2. @LeonL Good to know. Then the use of CuSO4 should be limited. A chelated Copper source is not that much more expensive and will make more of the Copper available to kill the algae. I have seen too many lakes with high pH, which is most all of them in the West, end up with knee deep, black, anaerobic muck on the bottom as a result of using Copper Sulfate long term.
  3. On the subject of fish. White Amours are very effective in eliminating vegetative growth (weeds) and less effective in controlling algae. Talipa are very good at controlling algae, and cost about $2.45 a pound and you will need somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 fish in your lake. We stock 500 lbs per year. However I would not recommend using them if they are going to die in the cold water every year. Not only is this as expensive as algaecide but very messy considering the dead fish carcases. Regarding copper use, I am happy the CuSO4 was effective. If your lake pH is higher than 8 the sulphur will, in time, bind to the calcium in the water and settle to the bottom where there will become a toxic environment to crustaceans. Then the silt and anaerobic sludge (the black smelly stuff on the bottom of the lake) will become a problem.
  4. Agree you are better off with copper. What is the pH of your water?
  5. Im about to take delivery of the 2019 MC so: Is the MTS system adequate weight to balance the boat? I can understand the rational regarding the rudder tab. Not having an adjustable tab reduces the possibility that boats will drive differently depending on how the owner has set the tab. Thank you for any comments.
  6. Yes, a single bale of straw (like you would buy for your horse) if there are two lakes one in each. One should be able to buy Cutrine Plus for about $35 a gallon. Is your lake really an average of 7 feet deep? That would indicate that it is 14 feet at some of the deepest depths. If I had more information about the lake, I could determine more accurately the quantity of Copper you might need.
  7. If the water drops below 50 F the talipa will not survive. Otherwise, they are great. Agree
  8. @LeonL You can try a bail of straw anchored to the bottom on the windward side of the lake. This has shown to absorb nutrients from the water. Replace it every year or so. If this is Still Water, your water is probably alkaline so stay away from Copper Sulfate. Depending on your water source, it may be possible to inject copper chelate to the input point. Otherwise for a simple algae bloom it is relatively easy to pour Cutrine from the back of the boat as I mentioned in the previous post, I have personally done this many times and the results are spectacular. And really not that difficult. PM me if you would like any more information. Cheers.
  9. Ok, first to know is if your lake water is high in calcium (hard water) If so Copper Sulfate will not be as effective as a chelated copper such as Cutrine Plus. Calcium and sulfate bond making much of the copper unavailable to treat the algae. Also in time the sulfate builds a toxic environment to fish and other desirable water creatures the bottom. Use the chelated copper in a liquid form and if it is Cutrine plus the rate is one gallon per Acer foot, 7' deep by 15 A =105 gallons. Are you sure the lake is 7' deep average? Pour the chemical from the back of a boat directly into the water circling the lake about 20 feet from the shore. A majority of the algae lives in the shallower, warmer, clearer water. Next have a lake water nutrient test done to check the Phosphors levels. Eliminate and source of nutrients entering the lake. The copper will shade the lake for a couple of weeks, after, you can use a lake dye if you like.
  10. Zero Off Rev S upgrade Advice I am about to upgrade my ZO from Rev R to Rev S. I have a single puck system on a 2016 CP and have ordered the upgrade file.I know I need the cable ($250). Is it possible to rent/borrow a cable? Does the same cable do all FBW boats. Any advice is appreciated. Thanking you in advance.
  11. Yep, that is for sure true. If you live in Germany or even the East Coast, the energy is probably from coal. Considering line drop and associated production methods it may be difficult to say electricity is much of a carbon foot print reduction. On the other hand petroleum is not created in a vacuums either.
  12. I still can't help but wonder if producing energy in one place, sending through wires to a boat, car or whatever is truly a carbon savings? Do anyone have any comparative data?
  13. A simple question that will no doubt have a complex answer. I am a 6'1 195 lb skier, 34 mph into -32 and currently ski with a C1 ZO setting. What + setting should I use with the ZO Rev S ?
  14. Silver Streak, or Sliver Ghost as in the wake and the ghost don't exist.
  15. With the long-anticipated launch of the new 2019 Ski Natique and the initial reviews of its slalom ski-ability, especially regarding the ZO settings, calls to a larger problem with our tournament tow boat structure. Notwithstanding wake and tracking, pull characteristics, when the boat catches up to the skier seem to vary with the same ZO setting from boat to boat? How can a person that trains behind boat X ever hope to know how boat Y with the same ZO setting will react? Is there need for a conversion chart that specifies boat type, engine option, and prop to determine ZO setting? Maybe an app on one’s smart phone would do. How can this ever be a level playing field? Three weeks ago, we had a two-day 6 round tournament using the 2018 SN 200 6.2 L and a CP 6.0 L. Four of the Big Dawg skiers were here including the current Leader. There were 18 -39.5 passes made and 6 passes into -41. These skiers having the benefit of 3 weeks training could not replicate these results at Cider Ridge. I dislike posing a problem w/o also a solution. Thus, this is more of a thought experiment.
  16. Changing the ZO setting so much would seem to indicate that the boat takes some getting used to. That isn't going to work very well with the skier that trains behind older SN's or other brands? Any thoughts on this point, or is it too soon to make this statement?
  17. If this is true, a great opportunity for MasterCraft to jump in. Big Dawg is a great event. What say you BOS?
  18. I would be again curious to know how many Pro Stars or SN 200's were sold new from the dealer, not a promo. Is that data available?
  19. There are some more water sport lakes zoned in Arizona. Not much information other than that at this time.
  20. Had the same problem with my 2016 CP. It started as an intermittent problem and progress to just wouldn't start. Under warrantee took it to the dealer. A replaced neutral safety switch solved the problem. Smooth sailing since.
  21. Contact Global Insurance www.globalmarineinsurance.com They insure our lakes (private ) with a jump and including tubing etc.
  22. Yes it is possible, the company is called The Used Boat Company. :)
  23. Interesting two models of the ski tug, one same as before and the other a supermodel, or pro model with carbon. A Carbon Pro if you will?
