Baller skibrain Posted September 5, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2020 A friend gave me a new-condition Straightline mainline. However the section loops are spliced too small to fit over a pylon and it has this short yellow section. Is the yellow chunk the consistent pylon connection? But does this inappropriately add 18” to each line length?
Baller MNshortliner Posted September 5, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2020 Yellow line could be a cheater/ extension line for shorter lengths. Check the other loop on the red/15 off section. It could be hooked up backwards. One loops is usually bigger than the other.

Baller alex38 Posted September 5, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2020 I think, I repeat, I think that yellow section comes out when you use a PP “switch” module and goes back on when you are not. Switch is fairly obsolete so that thing stays on.

Baller dave2ball Posted September 5, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2020 The small section is for a slalom switch. It was used for many years with perfect pass. It is the same switch that is used for jump. The loops are small because a carabeanier is used. If no switch is used the yellow goes on the handle end. Horton is right the rope looks old may be not worth keeping.

Baller cruznski Posted September 5, 2020 Baller Share Posted September 5, 2020 That is a very old rope even if it was not used, and @dave2ball explained your rope is meant to be connected to a switch that went on the pylon and was 18" long- it was to tell when the rope got loaded up to apply throttle on (I mean 2 decades ago) Perfect Pass. The material in ropes does not age well, I would discard it too.
Baller skibrain Posted September 5, 2020 Author Baller Share Posted September 5, 2020 Thanks for the replies! Ok ok ok. It’s a dock line or an anchor rope at best. I did not say I was going to go skiing with it. Apparently no one else did with this one 20 years ago either. The handle and mainline that I actually ski with are less than a yr old.
