Baller makeall6 Posted April 28, 2021 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2021 I have a 2004 SN which is in excellent condition. Garage kept. But over the years the bow is showing some minor scratches from use. What is the best product for removing said scratches? I use Babes to maintain the boat. Great products. Cheers. Baller keithh2oskier Posted April 28, 2021 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2021 I used a Harbor freight dual action polisher and maguire 205 I think. I may have used 105 which is a heavier cutting product and 205 is a lighter polish. I only need to use 205 now for maintenance.

Baller Minelickskier Posted April 28, 2021 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2021 I agree with the above poster...a random orbit buffer with a good cutting compound and some effort and patience. I like turtle wax clean cut compound. Then follow up with a good wax
Baller jjackkrash Posted April 28, 2021 Baller Share Posted April 28, 2021 I would start with a rotary or at least a gear driven orbital and a wool pad and some course cutting polish; move to wet sanding if needed. Gelcoat is thick and tough and a random orbital does not have enough cutting power to do much of anything unless you have days to spend on it. You can use the random orbital and a foam pad for finishing with some medium to fine polish to take out holograms left by the rotary if desired. GPJ
Minor scratches you can do by hand with a polishing compound. The wheel is the way to go for larger areas. My 2000 Nautique had some major fading/chalkiness, especially on the tan stripe. I wet sanded with 2000 grit then buffed it with a wheel and polishing compound. I was happily surprised how well it came out. Like new.
Baller makeall6 Posted April 29, 2021 Author Baller Share Posted April 29, 2021 Thanks to all. After I buff out the minor scratches, I am going to try the new spray on ceramic by Silex. Any thoughts.
