USA fans, start praying. If our bunch skies well, we can win. A lot of strong international teams. Team competition is going to be exciting.

The World's at Sunset Lakes is about a month away now.

 

I'm looking forward to the Men's Overall competition. The overall world record has been increased a few times this year and there are some really strong contenders.

 

Will Regina be healed up enough to compete?

 

Will defending champs Joel Howley and Jacenta Carroll make it out of Australia to defend their titles?

 

Will 41 off be run?

 

Will Ryan Dodd be recovered to compete?

 

So many story lines and this is the first World Championships in the US at a premium site in a while!

I’m the last guy to care about trick but, we don’t have a male tricker on the team? We have 2 women trickers.

Maybe I’d understand if I read the criteria. Never mind, that made it more confusing. 2 male jumpers. 2 female trickers. Interesting choices

Looks like Winter Garden Fl is well represented. (especially as Smith owns a house and spends 1/2 his time here.)

 

Of course what water ski tournament isn't, especially after you add in the international skiers that live her.

I think we are going to miss Regina Jaquess on the US team big time. Brooke is a strong 3 eventer but I think Regina would have been favored to medal in overall, slalom and jump. Too bad she got injured this year.

 

I can imagine Canada is bringing a strong team. Should make for a tough team competition.

I hear through the grapevine that Regina is back on a slalom ski and intends to slalom at worlds. She’s wearing a brace. She was sighted at Lake 38 last week.

Australia couldn't send a team to Juniors and 21's owing to Travel restrictions, but they are sending a small team to Worlds. As far as I'm aware, Joel is going.

Confused on divisions from website. What is men's1 thru men's 7, and same with women?

@BS74 The skier ski in "Series" Since they cant pull them all in one day and allows them to break up the skiing to pull different events each day. Top skiers will be in the last series or series 1.

I looked at the Worlds schedule of events on the IWWF website and it shows Men 7, Men 6, Men 5…Men 1. Is Men 1 the top seeds and Men 7 the bottom seeds?

@BG1 Yes, as @MattP answered that question a couple of posts above yours…The lower the number, the higher the seeds. The running orders are random within each series, for the skiers in the series, during the preliminary round.

@skierjp I saw a social media post that Jacinta Carroll boosted a 194' jump at Fluid. Despite not competing for the past year, she seems ready to defend her title.

I want to give a BIG ! shout out for Jack Travers and his team, what a fantastic site, I cannot think of a better water ski site that is more suitable than Travers, great viewing for spectators and competitors, the whole setup is made for it.

Canada are my pick to defend the teams title they won in 19 . The US are always strong but lack strong 3 event skiers particularly if Regina only slaloming .

I saw an instagram post showing the members of the Canadian team but it didn't show Llewellyn, Jamie Bull or Whitney. Dodd not being on the team I understand due to his injury but the others surprised me.

Weird how many of these skiers live, train, own homes, and work in the US but ski for a different country. I would also bet some of these skiers have not set foot in the country their skiing for in years. Doesn’t matter to me, just seems strange.

Pro athletes in any sport live where they can train year round. Can’t beat the weather in Florida for waterskiing.

Well, not to speak for @skierjp, but he may be referring to the several US born- dual citizen athletes skiing for Canada, which account for three members of their team and a fourth skiing as an individual. One member of the Canadian team is eligible to ski for three different countries. And all I have to sort out which region I ski in…

Is it one round best score gets to the finals? What about ties? Suppose a skier from group 4 through 7 throws up a big score? How many make it to the finals? Sorry for all those questions, is there a place that explains all of this? My questions are regarding slalom.

@BS74 top 12 skiers only in the final. Run off for 12th, doesn't matter the series you start in, just the score.
