Baller ALPJr Posted February 16, 2022 Baller Share Posted February 16, 2022 That’s only 570hp more than the motor I learned to get up on a slalom ski behind and only 390hp more than I learned to run the course behind.

Baller 6balls Posted February 17, 2022 Baller Share Posted February 17, 2022 I'm a gearhead, and I love speed/acceleration. My brother had the upgraded 6.2 in his Prostar after being disappointed in the 5.7-- and that 6.2 was brutally powerful. Had to be careful with it on hole shots with a skier. Was a serious fun drive, tho. It's kind of like saying ok I've got 550 hp in my car--I tracked it last year with my brother Joe who has 730 hp and weighs less. I stuck to him like glue for the most part--and he's a good driver. At some point you get to the law of diminishing returns. 100 hp vs 300hp--big deal. 300 vs 450, still substantial. 450 vs 550--meh. 550 vs 650--more meh

Baller Mastercrafter Posted February 17, 2022 Baller Share Posted February 17, 2022 Since octane has now been mentioned... It's been stated that high octane fuel should be used for top level skiers to give them every ounce of the engine's capability (power and RPM response). I can't even imagine what it would feel like to battle 600+ HP, but, would all this extra power help or hurt someone trying to run -41? I'm plenty happy with my 5.7 but inquiring minds would like to know.
Baller GaryJanzig Posted February 17, 2022 Baller Share Posted February 17, 2022 Supercharging makes more sense than turbo charging. Turbo chargers get too hot for a boat. If I had to repower my boat today I would put in the PCM ZZ5(5.3 L). Smaller displacement, lighter weight, more power.
