The 6th annual ”Waterski ITALY tour” will happen again between Sept 23rd and Oct 9th 2024.
ROBOT posted a topic in News & Other Stuff,
”Waterski ITALY tour” is a guided tour from the north east of ITALY towards the west and then all the way south to Napoli. There are 8 exclusive spots being open to any level skier and non skiers are welcome as well.
Like past years we will visit 10 of Italy’s best ski sites but in 2022 one new lake was added so there will be 11 ski sites in 2024. With skiing and an unforgettable culinary experience, the tour is something that must be experienced as the tour travels through 6 different regions (Piemonte, Lombardi, Trentino Alto Adige, Emilia Roman, Lazio & Campania) and each region producing its own culinary treasures. I would say that there are few if any country in the world where you will find such diversity in food in one country. As a matter of fact it was suggested that I name the tour “Waterski & Eat ITALY tour”
Since 1991 I have come to work in Italy running ski school. I have enjoyed these past 30+ years visiting, skiing, competing & capturing photos for waterski magazine of all these different ski sites, and been exposed to some of the best food in the world and become a (as they say in Italy) ”Una buona forchetta”. I hope to share all this with all of you!
If you are interested in joining me in 2024 and/or if you have any questions regarding this once in a lifetime waterski dream vacation I can be contact at: info@waterskiitaly.com

ROBOT,Marcus Brown Joins HO Sports / Syndicate as Marketing Manager
ROBOT posted a topic in News & Other Stuff,
As a youngster Marcus was drawn to the HO brand and what it stood for. In 2008, Marcus’ childhood heroes, Wade Cox and Bob LaPoint, were integral in bringing Marcus back to HO as a professional athlete. His past titles include a Jr. Masters, University World, Moomba Masters and U.S. Open Championship as well as an induction into the Collegiate Water Ski Hall of Fame.
For over a decade Marcus has worked hand in hand with HO Sports’ Production Director, Dave Wingerter, who also leads the Syndicate brand vision. HO & Syndicate have so many exciting products and plans for 2024, we couldn’t be happier with the addition of MB.
“I’ve known and been a fan of Marcus for years…” says Sr. Marketing Director, Greg Nelson “he’s a respected skier and his FlowPointTV series has been epic, looking forward to having Marcus lead the way for our brands.”
“Much of the success I’ve had in the industry has been thanks to the people who made HO/Syndicate what it is today… the risks they took on my crazy ideas has made all the difference.” says Marcus. “I am humbled and honored by this opportunity”
Sr. Director, Product Development, Dave Wingerter adds “Marcus is a watersports visionary. From winning pro water ski events, reinventing water ski technique to crafting the finest watersports films in the industry. I am excited for Marcus to showcase our brands.”

Horton,10 things to shorten the trip from Zero to 32 off
Horton posted a topic in Classic Threads,
2. Spend money on pro coaching before spending money on equipment
3. If your ski is more than 5 years old, it is time for a new one. If you can afford to ski, you can afford a new ski.
4. Video yourself skiing
5. Focus on basic technique. Work on one thing at a time for many rides at a time. If your boat crew comments on something different after each pass get ear plugs.
6. Most skiers who do not run 32 off do not have a good “stacked position”. “Stacked” is shoulders over hips and hips over feet. If you are not stacked almost anything else you work on is a waste of time and gas.
a. To be stacked is to have your back leg bent equal to or less than your front. The more you bend your back leg in relation to your front the weaker your position and the more weight is on your back foot. Some pro and elite skiers achieve this with a lot of forward knee bend with both legs. The bottom line is where your hips are in relation to your feet.
b. Personally I try to ski with relatively straight legs because I think it is the easiest way to move my hips over my bindings. 90% of all the coaching I give involves some version of “stand up”, “extend your legs” or “press both feet away from your body through the wakes”. There is nothing more important in skiing at this level than getting in and staying in a stacked position.
7. Set your ski to stock or very near stock settings. Assuming that you are starting at stock, most fin and binding adjustments are a distraction and may mask real issues. If you are not centered on your ski (stacked) then are you adjusting from an incorrect vantage point. Ski adjusting is a science that few skiers at any level really understand.
8. With new bindings you must always measure. The “middle hole” on your bindings may not be even close to the stock setting.
9. Moving your bindings forward will not solve anything for a skier who rides back into the ball. Many stock binding positions are already slightly forward.
10. Don’t over ski. If you ski when you are not strong you are practicing bad habits.

Horton,Win $50 from PerfSki for being “The Baller of the month.”
Horton posted a topic in News & Other Stuff,
The winner will be based (mostly) on the site leaderboard points https://ballofspray.com/leaderboard/.
How do you get points? There are a few ways.
You get points for creating a topic.
You get points when someone posts in your topic.
You get points when someone likes your post in any topic
Logging in every day is worth points
The system rewards the users who create good topics and write interesting stuff.
Of course, if I think someone is actually trying to game the system I will deduct 10,000 points from them.
Anyone saying this is stupid I will deduct 10,000 points from them.
This is a the first month of the program so naturally we will learn some stuff as we go.
Anyone who works in the industry in not eligible.

Horton,Mens Record for 34mph?
Brownie_09 posted a topic in News & Other Stuff,
Out of curiosity does anyone know what the mens record for 34mph is?
Nate Smiths record of 2.5@43 for 36mph is impressive. Is the record for 34mph more than 2.5 buoys?
Has Nate ran 43 at 34mph? Is that even possible?!
What do you think it'll take to break the 2.5@43, 36mph record?
Thanks

Horton,Now Defunct Ski Companies Of the World
jipster43 posted a topic in Skis Fins Bindings,
1.) EP - First real slalom ski my brothers and I had.
2.) Excel - Somehow my family received a prototype for free. My dad knew someone I guess, 'cause my oldest brother had only skied in one tournament.
3.) Cut 'N Jump - I learned to ski on a set of 67" Cut 'N Jumps. I weighed about 40lbs, had to wear shoes to fit into the bindings, and could stand up as soon as the boat went into gear.
I'm also going to include KIDDER even though D3 lives on. I grew up on Lake Tapps (Sumner, WA - home of Denny Kidder). If you skied Lake Tapps in the 80's you were either on a KIDDER or an HO. The KIDDER crew was way more obnoxious and dominant. The HO crowd were usually the folks that wished they lived in Redmond or on Lake Sammamish.
