  4. As the Duncanville Tribune has previously reported The Malibu Open has been rescheduled for September 29/30 at the Trophy Lakes Watersports Training facility. Kim Bryant and his staff have graciously invited the event to their world class facility. We have worked hard to reschedule an event to showcase the talents of these professional athletes. This is a great venue to do so. We have teamed up with another event to make this a festival atmosphere. Below is a preview of events that will also be taking place during the event at the site. This opportunity should truly bring our event to a new audience. We hope to bring the magic back to Trophy Lakes with the 2017 Malibu Open. Details will be posted at www.malibuopenfestival.com September 29 - Friday To kick off our annual Lowcountry BBQ Fest, admission will be throughout the day and bbq teams prepare for the cook off which we judge the following day. 5. @FWinter As I said I have been in contact with the parks since that day no one made any indication we could not hold the event. They allowed us to swim the entire lagoon and put the course in last weekend. They wanted us to be aware. If there was and Environmental Protection Agency in Moomba. Do you think they would let you ski in the yarra. I think not. I can assure you that I as well as everyone else did everything we could to deal with this situation. Not only have I invested my own time and money into this event. But several others have as well. We are already on the grounds in Milwaukee. Once the EPA stepped in. Which occurred yesterday we were yanked. I am as disgusted as anyone and have been trying to deal with this all yesterday evening and last night. Had I been told the event was in jeopardy we would have cancelled
  6. I have been in communication with the parks for weeks. They never mentioned any possibility that we could not have the event. The permit has been approved. Guys swam the lake and put the course in a week ago. No issues. I was hit with this shit at 3 pm yesterday. Trust me i am as invested with you and any other skiers and i volunteer for this shit
  7. @klindy I don't know how you can force guys into a level 10 open division or masters men and make a distinction between the two. What is the difference between a level 10 skier forced into open and level 10 forced into MM. The new rules describes both divisions with the same language. Elite division. Therefore MM Is equivalent to open men other than the age. As I told @JeffSurdej there's no way they can have it both ways. I think that falls under age discrimination. If we MM AND OPEN are mandated to these "elite" divisions then we must share the same requirements. i.e. Open skiers do not have to ski the regionals. So what differentiates the two under the new rule.
  8. @lpskier be careful saying how good Jeff is. They may want to create and place Jeff in Level 11 so no one has to ski against him. Seriously Jeff looked really strong all weekend. Was crushing 41 off during the qualifying round. Very consistent skiing by Jeff And Greg all weekend
  9. I talked to parks. Lake is being treated. There is event on lagoon week before Malibu. It's all good no worries
  10. I am of the opinion we should go back to age divisions at the nationals as Chet and @Horton said. Masters men waters down the age division competition. I remember when men's 3/4 were the division to watch in the days of Chuck Forrest. These were very prestigious divisions to win. They still should be. All sports have athletes that are better and worse than others. After all this is the National Championship you should be the best to obtain the title. Not just hope to get rid of the best skiers by forcing them elsewhere. Just my opinion I have not competed in men's 4 at nationals since I left men's 3. This year i was selected to drive the nationals. This is also the year they cut the number of drivers in half to save money. I will get to Texas on Monday and ski men's 4 on Wednesday rather than being in a boat the majority of each day and then skiing MM on Friday evening after pulling ski rides for three days. Also of note there are 100 more skiers registered than last year. I look forward to being a driver at the nationals but not at the expense of my ski ride. My opinion is that MM should ski at a different speed that the other divisions. MM in my opinion waters down the competition. Watering down the competition is not going to increase membership. Level 10 is being forced by individuals who want to podium at the championship by getting rid of the better skiers. Where was all this when chuck Forrest was winning year after year while there were 130 plus skiers who knew they had little chance to win. What will be next, level 11 so no one has to ski against Nate, Freddy and Regina.
  11. Go back to a set EP rating. Everyone knows the mark and can work to achieve it. Take the guess work out of it. When you accomplish the EP rating that should trigger the invite email to nationals.
  12. Trust me. Nate has no panic at any pass. He skis like he is in a tournament everyday. No matter who he skis with. Nate trains as hard as anyone. He just does it all on the water. No matter the temp outside. He just has it figured out. He has more confidence than anyone on the water. This weekend for example. TGas had just run 4@41. Nates reaction. "Let's give it a shot". He's demeanor did not change a bit. Confidence!!!
  13. You will want one that is set up and calibrated for the Malibu. Each manufacturer has set different gains and delays based upon hull and performance
  14. Best wishes and nothing but positive thoughts for Ty and his family today. Definitely in need of good thoughts and prayers from the Waterski community. Best wishes
  15. Well since @Horton is always the first with breaking news. I suppose I should comment. First and foremost I am totally disappointed for letting Nate down. This was a very long event with some great skiing by many. The tournament started at 8 am and nates pass concluded about 820 pm. Nate was my 58th skier of the day. It was pretty dark and it is difficult to stay focused for 8.5 hrs driving shortline skiing. I have apologized to Nate for not doing a good job and I am looking forward to another chance with him at Lake 38.
  16. I think there is a big difference in skiing Open and big dawg versus age division. I mean if signing up for a big dawg which in my opinion is equivalent to hosting a back room poker game. It doesn't make you a professional skier or poker player Guys like OB. Dave Goode George leveign also sign up. Mandate them to MM next. I should hope not. I agree and I am certain nate would agree he should not be the men's 2 champ As for pros dropping down. I was top seed in men's 2 slalom the year Ellis dropped down in Houston he won I got second. Oh well I should have skied better and earned the championship title. After all it is supposed to be the best. You can also solve the open issue by utilizing the Elite Rankings list. If they are chasing elite points they are open. Most of the open skiers want to ski in Open. As for voicing opinions amongst your region in my experience a large majority of those reprentatives have their own agenda as well. I spent several hours speaking to SCR representatives with regards to ZBS and slalom. Funny thing is two of the representatives in the SCR have never been on a slalom ski. But were very opinionated on what was best for the slalom side of the sport Major rule changes should be voted on by the membership affected by the proposed rule changes Not by so called representatives
  17. or the nearest equivalent to 35mph. Will give other former pros a place to go. Most of the open skiers don't want to ski their divisions. They do it because of boats which should be addressed. If they are on the elite rankings list don't allow in age division.
  18. Make MM another speed 57k
  19. @JeffSurdej While I do not agree with Level 10 either for several reasons. I do not think it should have been implemented in the middle of a season. And since this season began in August, change to a rule should be for the following season. The NFL rules committee does not implement new rules during week 8 of the season. While I agree someone 60 should not have to ski against a 35 year old. If you set the cutoff based on performance as you have. I don't see how you can then allow someone to opt out of it now due to age. It's either based on performance or it's not. If men's 5 is skiing 34mph and reaching the performance as set forth then what logic would keep them out. I remember when the men's 3/4/5 titles were prestigious. Now suddenly we have decided to make it a 2nd tier national championship. While I chose to ski MM after I won a Men's 3 championship. I should be allowed that option as long as we are divided into age divisions. Seems like soon we will want a level 11 so people won't have to ski against Nate. It is a National Championship after all. It should be the best that win. Not those who just can't beat the guys in their own age divisions. As for Open skiing in Age division. AWSA could stand up to IWSF and allow sponsored open skiers to ski their boats at record events. Would solve the problem of open skiers skiing in their age divisions
  20. Dana Reed mandated Malibu Open pays equal to the men and women We are keeping with his wishes. Come to Milwaukee enjoy a great city and great event
  21. Easily happens. It was the 12th hour of the tournament. Judge was dealing with camera issues as we lost the feed. Trying to get it straight before the timer We took off and both missed it. For me CP was my 56th skier of the day. Simply. We missed it. The score is CP's best score in 2 yrs. good to see him back in the mix. Hate that it happened but it was a long day.
  22. @matthewbrown You nailed it. He is far from light on the line. He loads as hard as anyone. Just always in the same spot. Ask Nate how many handles he bends? He has it figured out and experience at 41 is a huge advantage. He runs 41 off every time he skis. He rarely misses it.
