  1. @Horton, this is the move you and I were in debate over years ago. Seth says it much better. My simplistic brain said move the ski out in front of me because I couldn't get it on a turn edge under me while maintaining back arm pressure. Some guys say the ski squirts out because of pressure release. Whatever you call it, Reverse C, moving the ski behind the handle, all the top skiers have it and they get it real quick off the second wake or sooner.
  2. Good thing @Horton controls pandas….
  3. This one went next level. We were watching in the boat on my iPhone and when Freddy fell, I said “hey I had Nate at 4, maybe I’ll get lucky”. Went out for my short set and I get back in the boat and an old baller friend texted me “hey AB you won a ski”. I had Regina at 1 and almost got both scores. Should have played the lottery.
  4. Thanks for the comments. I talked with my skiing buddy about switching back my grip to how I started. He too started RH on top RFF and switched to the “correct” method. Will see what my local ortho says and can always go to Cleveland Clinic if needed. I need to understand risk of another sucky ski season to get fixed at end of summer or just bite the bullet and get it done now. That just means I won’t be able to defend golf championship in my golf league and will leave my partner scrambling for a replacement.
  5. After a few years of a weak left arm and perpetual golfers elbow, I finally got a MRI after a lump was discovered just off the interior elbow joint. Results were: High-grade tear of common flexor tendon at medial epicondyle, with tendinosis. Moderate tendinosis of the common externsor tendon at the lateral eplicondyle with intermediate to hihg-grade insertional tearing. Likely partial thickness tearing of ulnar attachment of the radial collateral ligament. Mild distal biceps tendonsis. I don't know what all that means, but in skier terms, it may be why my down arm on my offside lean has sucked for the last few seasons, and it messes up my golf swing too. Anyone have this before? Surgery? PT? Recovery? Waiting on appointment with Ortho to go over and discuss risks if I wait until end of summer and have another sucky ski season losing all my angle out of 1 ball. AB
  6. @BarnacleBoy sounds just like a guy that skied in our Club. He rode the Truth for about half a season. Never could get it to work for him. We saw some spectacular falls though... He was a never say die, hold my beer while I do a yard sale kind of a guy... bad combo..
  7. You can't handle the truth! Sorry, couldn't resist...

    Lake Dye

@Sebgo there are various dye concentrates on the market, and we use Keycolor Pure Blue and some Black to give it a darker glossier finish. I buy with another lake owner so we can get to the free shipping price point. As far as how much and how long, it really depends on your lake bottom. Clay will hold dye and water level while sand is basically a filter to the water table. I have a 2000' long lake typical width and 18' deep, all clay bottom, and I use about 15-20 gallons a year. The guy I order with is about 1750' 10-12' deep with turn islands in mostly sand bottom, and he uses somewhere around 80-90 gallsons if I remember correctly. Look at dye solid content that is in the various products. I always try to get the heaviest solid content suspended in water per gallon. There are powder dyes out there, but even on the calmest days the powder will get on everything and turn you and your boat into smurfs. I only deal with powder when I occasionally toss some Red/Yellow in, as that knocks out differnt UV spectrum than blue and black. I can't remember the last time I did though. It is part of the standard blue Aquashade dye package though.. Dump the dye in early though to stay ahead of weeds and algae, and I add some more in mid-summer, before it really heats up. AB
  9. yea I saw that and was thinking I need to get a Kevlar speedo to wear under my swim trunks...
  10. Getting lots of exposure outside of the waterski community... What kind of bikini?
  11. When I was around 240 and going from PP to ZO, I tried a bunch of B and C along with + settings, thinking A settings were just for lighter skiers, but at the suggestion of @Ed_Johnson tried A1+ and found a lot of timing issues of hooking up after the buoy went away. Today at a little more weight and skiing more recreationally, I seem to bounce from A1+ to B2 on a new MasterCraft, and A1+ on my 07SN.
  12. @Horton I am not so sure this thread is 100% about skiing. But that is my opinion, and on an opinion forum, I guess I thought I was entitled to my opinion so posted it, even though I knew some would dislike it. I guess I am "woke" in another way....
  13. @The_MS there is an endless amount of funding pouring into America to push an agenda. They dangle money in front of people and say you need to do this and we will reward you. My Dr says he gets pressure from Medicare to implement woke bs all the time. The dangle for him is higher reimbursement rates. He says C YA. When it isn't money, it is the threat to large Coporate CEO's about their jobs. There are a handful of large brokerage houses that own the world and they use the CEO's as puppets to get their agenda in play: Blackrock
  14. @mike_mapple I just called and was helped by one of the gals. She hooked me up with your all black Performance hat, which is a decent substitute, but I liked the black front and white back trucker hat for not attracting too much solar heat. I will see how it works out once NW Ohio warms back up. I just grabbed a handle and a hat, no biggie. I stopped in the store a couple years ago while on vacation down there. Great store.
  15. @mike_mapple I just got an order shipped not too long ago without discount and with these crazy times that we are living in right now, you can keep the discount. (I also tip more when we go out to eat). However, you could help me out and maybe a few others by getting your black and white trucker hat with the red P logo back in stock. I wore out my old hat, and you guys aren't carrying it any more. How about getting them back in the shop?
  16. I have a solution to all those concerned about men looking at bikinis....
  17. Nice place Ed, good luck in your move!
  18. I think they should change the "sinking" part of it to clearly state if the skier or binding causes the "sinking" then it will count. To me, what makes sense is if the ski is outside of the buoy, scoring follows the quarter, half, full, rule. We have all hit buoys with shins, ankles, bindings, etc. and dunked them. If the ski is outside of center on the ball, it should count. If the ski is on the inside of center, then no good.
  19. Don't under estimate falling in water that cold and what impact it will have on your coordination and stamina. Many years ago we were pulling the course out and there was thin ice around the lake but not completley covered (so I was still young and foolish) and I left the drysuit in the car thinking we could just do it from the boat. Wrong. Somehow we didn't drop the cable quick enough and the loosend stainless cable got wrapped around the prop a couple times. I stripped down to my Jockeys and jumped in. Holy cow was that cold, and my hands got numb in a manner of minutes and I had a lot tougher time getting up on the swim platform. I barely had enough time in the water to get it unwrapped. I was done for the day. Don't assume you will have the same physical capablities in that kind of water as you do in summer. I would wear a drysuit and have something to create grab handles and possibly have a rope around my waist for my buddies to yank me out.
  20. A friend bought a used Goode for opposite foot forward and really liked it. I guess if he had a shot at running 41 maybe it would have been horrendous, but at 35&38 he liked it.
  21. @Markzimmy if this SS requirement holds true, then it makes sense that ALL skiers of any level need to take, because it really isn't about skiing.. If they are onsite and there are minors present, they qualify for training requirement.
  22. @klindy there is a limited amount of team skiers and then some top one event individuals that benefit from those. How many divided by the total membership? A fraction? R&D? Deliver a boat that the market wants. Some buy on looks some on performance and other on utility. Competition between manufacturers to sell in the various market segments determines R&D and what the market will absorb. Not sure what you were inferring on no R&D. Team skiers sell skis by hitting the road and demoing them at various sites and helping skiers see gains in performance. I’m not sure that would change. The popularity of the Big Dawg proved top amateurs could make an interesting tournament. Technological advances normally mean cost savings in most businesses but not for a tournament ski boat. Wouldn’t you say the prices on new ski boats have shrunk the new boat demand to the point of perfect inelasticity and only the minority of skiers get a new boat because of chasing a National title or on promo programs or run ski schools and get a new boat as an asset every year? That demand is fairly fixed. It seems the used boat market is as hot as ever so many more buy in that space. All I am saying is that if you subject 98% of the membership to mandates driven by International and World organizations that don’t benefit the 98%, then maybe there needs to be an assessment made as to what side the bread gets buttered on.
  23. It appears that the majority of the membership is served by amateur events and the thin top layer benefits from anything related to Worlds, Pan Am, or Olympics. I would venture a guess that most of the majority have no aspirations to ski in anything other than domestic amateur events. That is the target demographic in my opinion. Any and all mandates due to the top layer imposed on the majority will be hard to swallow for most, no matter how you spin it...
  24. @Than_Bogan kind of like train wrecks...
  25. @Wish will these "Boards" review if you are a Panda recipient???
