  1. @BS74 Last time I sked Regionals there those lakes ran about like our lake, so would guess 80-83F, which is where we are at. Forecast shows Wind SW gusting to 30 mph early afternoon on Wednesday. Yikes. Could be a wakeskate event for Girls slalom.
  2. @RGilmore I am not a Doctor, but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express...
  3. @MISkier I consider it customized! If you were my size it’s priceless!
  4. Bigger skis are harder to roll onto a turn edge so have your boat crew watch when you are changing from spray from pulling and the. Spray from turning. Some are harder than others to transition. If you have a long area of no spray that means you are flat skiing which is also bad. Sometimes on the bigger skis you need to really shallow up and shorten the fins so they turn quicker. I’m a Radar guy but my 69” Senate Pro fin is nowhere close to what stock settings are.
  5. Many years ago I had a similar fall and had a late release in hard shells and tore the inside of my back ankle to shreds. Blood flow is critical. I did duck walks which is walking on the insides and outsides of your feet, the sit on a chair by a door and use the door to resist against turning your ankle in and out, calf raises on steps to increase blood flow several times a day. Stretching is key also. Dr said I would have been better off breaking it and only saw that inside ankle issue in car accidents. I found that when shopping with Mrs AB it was easy to do duck walks around the clothes racks. We did those in basketball conditioning drills and I think k they are great for skiing. When I remember, I still do them today.
  6. Being from Ohio and just an online or on phone customer, the last two times I was in OTown I stopped in the store to check it out and of course bought some stuff to carry home. Could be another reason to retire to FL, although I have to come to grips with moving away from my lake. They rock customer service and always pleasant to deal with.
  7. @VONMAN I stand corrected. There were two new unused Ultra Vests in existence when I posted. You now have the only one. Mine has been wet several times now and working like a champ!
  8. I still have a warm and fuzzy style dry suit top that is brand new. I bought four or five. I think it’s a little small right now. Think it’s a Ronny possibly. Red velour like liner.
  9. Found a new Straightline Ultra Vest online a couple years ago still in plastic package but it was a Small. I found that the only difference with my XL was the neoprene side and over the shoulder panels were much shorter. Long story short, I bought some neoprene and finally found a tailor that would sew in larger panels with edging, and boom, brand new XL Ultra Vest!!! This vest picks up no weight has belts to adjust fit exactly what I like. Planning to get my old a tattered XL refitted with new side and top panels in winter.
  10. Get some thin rubber innertube stock and cutout the funny face pictures as seen above. I liked them better than neoprene due to thinner under the gloves.
  11. A buddy of mine has a 33' Sea Ray and he does an annual buff with NuFinish and Flitz Metal polish mixed 4:1 or so. I tried on my SN and it did bring out a real nice shine. I just don't like spending that much time on it. Use NuFinish once a year and hit it with Spray Wax every other time as we Sham Wow it. I tried Ceramic on my cars, and it looks great, but just doesn't seem to last. I used the Chemical Guys Ceramic, which was about 3X the cost of NuFinish. Would be great if it lasted longer.
  12. Back in 1979 or so, I was skiing and out to the left of my 1977 SN when I see the transom kick up and hear it cavitate. My ski partner immediately shut down and we found a huge tree that was completely underwater. Bent the skegs, rudder, shaft, and prop. I was out on a whip on a turnaround and there was a little chop and as I was doing Mach 1 and all of a sudden I see about an 8" diameter log pop slightly out of the water between the chop, directly in my path. I raised the tip of the ski and tried to jump. The tail hit the log and ejected me in an OTF. Ski was a EP Comp X2, and nothing happened to the ski. I was seeing stars. Not sure today's skis would take that hit. All of the above was on the river. So glad we got off the river!
  13. @Horton, okay I get it doesn't work for you, but it doesn't sound like you think what you are doing instead is working either. My body gets sore just watching that pass. (I am 62 though and used to muscle my way around back in the day, maybe that is why my shoulders, wrists, and fingers feel 82?). Wherever your chest is pointed is where the ski is going to be driven, and at the finish of the turn you are driving it down abruptly and hence the pull into your midsection is needed to complete the turn, versus a more erect posture and bringing the left hip around to carve a turn, you are just stopping, muscling the handle, and then holding on. It still goes in the books as 6, but man that looks like a lot of work, and only gets harder when the person in the boat brings you closer. I wouldn't rule out you trying to drop your right hip down on the buoy with a tight upper abdomen while bringing the left hip around, that could give you better body position right away other than having to fight to gain it back, which you are doing.
  14. A couple things to think over. I am a little opposite on the counter rotating and think you could do more sooner. Look for a straight line down the line and through your shoulders. You seem to want to yank the handle in to your middle instead of skiing your left hip around to the handle. You get into a bent forward mode from inertia so try to tighten your core and absorb the turn more in your body vs back. You might want to try “sitting on the ball” with your hip and getting the ski around and hold that position instead of pulling in on the line and then moving over to your left hip. FWIW. AB
  15. Always a pleasure to talk to on the phone and willing to do whatever it took to take care of my problems. Awesome guy I would have liked to meet in person.
  16. I think it is the fin box. I put some duct tape over the excess slot in the front and back on a whistler and it seemed to learn the words..
  17. "Last week this ski was killing it and today I feel like a fish on a bicycle".
  18. This is so sad and brings tears as I sit here and read this. My thoughts go to Jim's family and friends and the hole in your hearts from his loss. Just like my lake partner, high school river rat, old hunting bud, and another just all around good guy lost too soon to cancer about a year ago. In some other life if we would have met as kids I bet we would have had a blast together. I HATE CANCER.
  19. I have never had much success trying a new ski with new bindings, so if you do get new bindings, ride the new stick with the old pair a little and see what new ski characteristics you need to adjust to and then pop the new bindings on. Whenever I have tried both new I was probably heard muttering "I feel like a fish on a bicylcle" ...
  20. I have been told this pic of Camille shows RFF and Right hand up, but I am having trouble finding the handle...
  21. Where are you buying your thermostats?
  22. If it was a Nautique, I would recommend draining the entire cooling system and refill with 50/50 antifreeze. But for a MasterCraft, I would just leave it sit outside then convince the wife I need a new Natuique next summer.... :open_mouth:
