  1. I had a 116 when I skied 36 mph and I thought it worked really well. It felt like it allowed the ski to finish with more angle by sliding around.
  2. These gloves run small. When I wore clinchers, I wore a size small. On the masterlines, I wore a medium. On these, I ordered a medium but need a large. They are very very snug so you may want to go a size larger than you are used to.
  3. jwr, have you done a cortizone shot yet?
  4. Whats with the "tighten up"? I pulled someone last year that said that and it struck me as odd. With the 100s of passes we do in a season, is there any doubt that the driver will NOT tighten it up? Maybe for beginners that stuggle getting up and like to be drug a bit, but otherwise I would think the "tighten up" is implied prior to pulling the skier out of the water. Should I get the boat straight also? LOL, please tell me how to do this. A simple "OK, yup, lets do it, I'm ready, hang ten, let er rip" etc, is fine.....
  5. Thanks Ed! You are probably right about me and the Nano. Chipman's comments on the 63 caused me to pause but OB did do a great eval on the ski. So, I'm just really anxious to hear more input from folks like yourself. But, I think I've heard enough, talking to wife about it tonight and she gave me the thumbs up. Not that I need her approval, I totally wear the pants in the family.
  6. Thanks for the info Ed, I weigh 170 lbs, so I think your ski may be a bit big for me. I am kicking around the Nano mid and the regular 9960 mid. Keep us posted on your Nano.
  7. Scott, can you or anyone else comment on the difference between the mid and regular 9900? Is it true that the mid and wide turn better than the regular? I am on a regular 9900 but the mid seems to be the top seller this year. Curious about what the differences are.
  8. Robbie, the wrap looks awesome, as does your lake. So many good memories there, thanks for posting. Hope to see you guys this summer!
  9. Update: For those that are curious about this wing. I tried the wing pictured above, except I used the larger one, the same size as the Goode wing. DIDN'T LIKE IT! It was Holy @)($! fast but made the ski very unstable for some reason. But the speed was amazing. Put the orignal Goode wing back on and all is well.
  10. I've been sharing my ventral with my wife while hers is on back order. After a set where she skied great I went to take it off and realized I mounted one side upside down and backwards. Lol, but it still worked, she ran her hardest pass with that set up!
  11. I suspect the vw may not work as well with all ski combinations. For example, when I went from an A1 to a Goode, there was a signficant speed increase accross the wake. I do think the vw slows the ski down so a vw on a slower ski may not work as well. Also remember that we want the ski to work the best at our hardest pass. For me, that is 38 and it feels dramatically faster than 35. So I need some help getting the tip to engage and slowed down in the preturn. I have skied 38 with the vw and it does help, not hurt. I don't have a problem getting width at all, my biggest problem has been dealing with the speed at the short line length. With the vw, my tip starts engaging before I can get my body in the right position. One my body gets in the right position, it makes it even better. At my opener, I can feel the ski slow down a bit too much in the turn but who cares, I want it to work at the hardest pass. Both my wife and I had our skiing improve with vw, instantly. So there is something to it. Bottom line, the benefits outweigh the negative.
  12. MS - I'm with ya on the shorts (I thought I was only one who did that) Damn Shorts! Ski? Goode 65.75 9900 Bindings? 7 year old FMs Vest? Eagle custom (Nano vest on order) Gloves? Clinchers on tournament days, Locks for practice Rope? Masterline Handle? 1.0 In-Tow Bag? Masterline Ski Sock? HO (I know, HO sock on a Goode) Calipers? Digital with EZ Fin Trunks? Affliction Boat? 09 SN 196 Setting? C1
  13. I also put it on my wife's ski and didn't tell her. I put her ski out on the starting dock so she wouldn't see and she put it on and jumped in the water. She has been struggling a bit this year, running 28 off 60% of the time about. She went out and ran back to back 28s off the dock and then ran a 32 off. On the second set, same result but didn't run a 32. I backed he wing off 1 degree also. I then ordered her one but like previously said, they won't ship until mid May. So, she is gonna ski with two extra holes in her fin until then.
  14. It took a long time, Just under 2 weeks. BTW, it works. Backed the wing off to 8 degrees. Perfect.
  15. Horton, are you including this ski on your ski tests?
  16. Yea, I bought an EZFintool, I can't consistent numbers without it.
  17. I couldn't ski today because when I bent over to empty the lawn mower bag, my lower back went on the fritz. Can barely stand straight. I did P90x all winter, I'm 39. Mid 70s today, this is BS. Thanks for listening.
  18. This wing was designed many years ago by Kerry Kaifish, who worked with NASA, and was familiar with aerodynamics. I bought a set of his wings, which came in different sizes, but haven't used them in years. I am thinking about playing around with them again. I know aerodynamics aren't the same as hydrodynamics, but thats about all I know. You can see he squared off the edges which he said created less drag. He also added the dimples, similar to a golf ball, which also created less drag. I became curious again about these wings when I got my VW and noticed the squared off edges.
  19. Short answer scuppers is that when they are half filled with water, they are displaced more easily if you hit them. They can reduce injury because they will move up, down, sideways when you strike them, and not launch you in the air as you are extended out. The downside is they are not as bouyant and will be more affected by wind, unless you place a sub bouy.
  20. OB, get out of there! Go get a set on the Nano and report back. Deanoski, will do, hopefully taking a set today. Should be in the mid 70s this weekend, plan on doing a lot of skiing.
  21. Personally, I love the looks of that boat, I would buy it if I had the money. Also, Swiss Ski School sells their boats at the end of the summer and they have about 500 hours on them. But you can get them for mid to low 30s, all 200s. That is where I got my 09 196, for mid 20s. Perfect boat.
  22. Skibug, I feel a lot like you. I skied on my vw last night for the first time. The tip stays down, period. I don't have to climb all over the front at short line to get a nice pre turn and turn. Its almost like cheating. The turns feel really good. I did not try 38. I am suspect of how much it slows down the ski, I only really felt it on my off side pull, but I felt it. However, at short line I seldom have a problem getting speed across the wake. I obviously want it to work at short line. I am going move the wing from 9 to 8 degrees.
  23. Razorskier, I really like your comments and can relate to what Nate Smith said in last month's WS. He mentioned being light on the line and changing edges in the same spot even if late. You watch Nate Smith and he is amazingly efficient. The way you describe it makes sense. Thanks for posting.
  24. Yea, it was a beautiful day, why aren't you working? Great video.
  25. Thanks Thager, its a keyed ignition not a key pad (forgot to mention). I talked to someone today who advised the red wire needs to go to the constant hot and the pink wire to the accessory. I think both are going to the accessory. I thought the red to the constant hot would cause the unit to stay on. So hopefully I have it figured out. I have to check it out when I get back out the lake, where I keep my boat. Thanks!
