  1. Me and several of my ski buddies use the pro locks, but remove the dowel. It creates just the right amount of grip and I can release and come on the handle better. If you do it, just cut off the dowel close to the stitching and burn it so it doesn't fray.
  2. Thanks, I will look into hydrothol, pretty cost effective too. How much do you generally use in a season?
  3. We have a newer lake and every year, the lake weeds get worse. Appears to be Sago pondweed as the main problem. We've used Aquathol K, but don't seem to be getting the result at all. I've just picked up some Nautique aquatic herbicide but haven't put it in yet Sonar is too expensive. Anything else out there you guys are using that works?
  4. Ok, its down to Nate, Willy, TGast and JMac. Any predictions???? Its kinda windy I here which changes things a bit. I'm going Willy, Nate, TGas, JMac. Willy's gonna take it due to the conditions.
  5. Smarts look on his face is priceless
  6. I have also heard what skibug has heard, mostly from an article years ago in WS Magazine. One of the downsides of increased separation is the tendancy to push on the back of the ski and also more weight towards the back. If this fits your skiing style, then great. Do we want to "push" the back of the ski or have more weight towards the back? I've found many people find success when they make efforts to get the bindings close to each other. But for every opinion on this thread, there will be someone pointing out the exact opposite, its just the nature of the sport. There is no "right" answer sometimes. Wing / No wing. Open to the boat or closed. Bindings close or separated.
  7. I second malibuowner. As close as possible is best.
  8. Ouch! Smart, that is just not right. Its not like you deserved it or anything.
  9. So glad I clicked on this thread.
  10. I concur 100% with Than. They all ski good. But they do drive different.
  11. Hate to answer for Marcus, but he told me about it years ago. Like Dsmart said, he skied over the rope, the rope came tight and pulled his hand into the ski, trapping his fingers between the ski and handle.
  12. Whatever you do stay away from elastic waistband shorts, chicks don't dig em at all.
  13. Thanks for posting these great pics. I am always amazed at the differences in form. Its crazy that so many different styles can make it work. Just makes me wonder what is the secret.
  14. Well I don't thinks it's the ski, fin or wing. Not the boots either. But what is it?
  15. This really is a big problem. Webcast TV helps a lot but its not always available. If you can't get the event to the fans, then its a big swing and a miss. If we can get it on TV, we have a much better chance of getting some new interest in our sport. The sports programs this time of year suck anyway, I would think there would be plenty of room for a waterski event. I know, sponsors, etc etc. But the powers to be need to find a way to get through this.
  16. Patience - I can't believe how long he can wait at the end of the turn and still run the pass. Light on the line - He doesn't overpull and cause excess speed, even if he's late. Edge Change - He also said in an interview with WSM that he changes edges in the same spot no matter how late he is.
  17. So what the *(%!! is Nate doing that works so good? I'm not angry.
  18. Just a few years ago, running a 39 at a pro event was awesome. Last couple years, it took 3 at 41 to win. I just can't believe one would have to beat 1 at 43 to win now. Glad I'm not a pro skier right now.
  19. Some insane skiing, NATE SMITH!!. Bob LaPoint in there too? So who is in the finals?
  20. Those pics were unreal. Asher and Nate Smith do such a great job of keeping their shoulders square at the finish, amazing.
  21. mlange, yes you are doing something wrong. If you are on Animals, I assume you do not want the plate to release at all. Use 400 on the plate and 250 on the ski, and cover the entire area with interloc. You don't want to drill the ski. Skis that have inserts or that can be drilled are re-enforced with blocks or additional material. If you strip it out, you can ruin your ski.
  22. Shake it off... he doesn't know what he's talking about. But I am gonna try it tomorrow to make sure.
  23. Kona, that is an awesome pic! I love the ski rope keeping the entire thing tethered. Really completes the picture.
