  1. $ / market size is the #1 reason, but yes that is a big difference. Alpine Snowboarding is more similar. Still these new touring bindings are a step in the right direction, while we predominantly use as Deano says an antique alpine binding for waterskiing today. Lots of innovators in waterskiing, wouldn't take a whole lot to try a set and modify some of these touring bindings. The boots would have to change, but not by much. Radar already makes a boot designed for the reflex system and the other boots are just rollerblade boots.
  2. Dean I got into the new Radar boot at the end of last year. 15 years on double Radar RS1/Vapor boots without issue (although I've had a few very minor ankle tweaks I wouldn't even call sprains). It's been probably 10 years since I've even come out of them or wanted to as I'm a stronger and better skier now (into 38off occasionally). With that said, the new Radar boot has me thinking of going to the reflex release... Any thoughts on the new Atomic Backland Touring bindings? they look like they "could" work on a waterski; light and simple. https://cripplecreekbc.com/products/atomic-backland-tour-binding
  3. I have the 190cm dakine roller bag (soft sided) I use for alpine ski travels It fits no problem in a Toyota Carolla with the back seat down.
  4. I would go to Drew's and ski with Andrew, he's great with all ages. Drew's not so bad too 😉 Neilly, Charlie, Pato (and his sister) are pretty regular on the dock. Can't beat the lake. I love skiing at TBS, but it's a little older demo IMO. Rini's lake isn't nearly as nice as Drew's... Jodi is also great with kids but a little further west.
  5. @Lieutenant DanAndrew Bergman. Amazing Coach, driver & skier. He's behind the wheel at Drew's most days and a huge part of Charlie's successes these last few years. He was also in the driving crew at the jr. World's. Ski with him if you can!
  6. Yep. The new radar rear boot was a bit too much for me so I just used my worn in Carbitex rear with the new front boot. Going to move to release on the front and trying a HO venom rear next season.
  7. I have almost always used a bent bar and I get up palms down. From past injuries I moved this direction. Switch ropes frequently too. I have a flexbar and use therabands for strengthening. thanks for the feedback! I wont be skiing until the spring most likely now so time to get things healed up and strong
  8. been dealing with skiers elbow (medial epicondylitis) that won't go away after lots of therapies (accupuncture, myofacial, chiro, stretching, strengthening, etc). I've had it before and dry needling helped a lot, combined with strengthening my shoulder and back. Getting older and find it's not healing as quickly. so I came across a few things - Grafton technique it seems almost no physio/chiro do in my area and the armaid: https://armaid.com/products/armaid-1 anyone ever used it? Thoughts? very inexpensive in the grand scheme of things. I'm in no way associated with this product or company FYI
  9. I'm in! Thanks for sharingBeen dealing with another bout of medial epicondylitis. Definitely started this time by taking too much slack but My physio suggests the over development of my right forearm muscles caused by rotating my wrist inward (in the turn) is assisting in the refered pain. I can ski, not as much as I'd like and it's not that much fun/scores are definitely affected. Ive been using the band-it strap and I try to tape my wrist so it won't bend inward as much. Also using clinchers, I have always used a bent bar too.
  10. My 7yo started house league hockey this year. As a parent (not a volunteer, coach, or participant) I had to take a "respect in sport" training. It was a few hours online and included testing. I did learn a little although mostly common sense. It also cost me $12 about the same as his jock strap. Big deal.
  11. Ive been on dbl boots basically since I started skiing 30 years ago. Been on vapor/rs1 boots since they came out nearly 15 years ago. My rear boot I keep the bungee loose and sometimes it loops off the clip, and the loose feeling makes completing the pass incredibly difficult. I can't see liking anything less supportive, especially an rtp. I'm thinking of going to a reflex release in front for the new vapor hardshell and will need a different rear binding. Seriously considering trying the new venom rear boot.
  12. Canadian bacon is peameal bacon. If you know, you know.
  13. @Jared there's 1 width and a tolerance to it Including the distance from that buoy to each other buoy in the course 11.5m is the distance from centre. No more, no less
  14. Guys who cares how it looks. Nobody wants to ski this freighter. Move on. Notice they didn't have 1 pic of Paige crossing the title wave? Nothing can be done about a massive freeboard, massive weight and a vdrive to make it ski well.

  16. Like many in the north we put our course in the same spot every year and leave it in for the season. I have permanent anchors at both ends with sub buoys so when we connect in the spring the subs stay on and act as the float. Definitely works well! Our water drops a few few during the summer so Also I use a little rope come along with loops at one end to tighten it by hand, have to swim down to the gate diamond but it works great and no mechanical issues. It's typically dead straight unless a big wind is up, which you're not skiing in.
  17. You need an econtrols ECM to convert to drive by wire throttle system, cables + Zero off kit which is $1600 Based on the pricing I've seen, Probably around 5-6k if you do it yourself.
  18. Exactly @6balls. Fill with water, then with air. Mine freeze solid through the the winter without issue as well. Get many years use out of them. This is what I use, pretty sure it was shared here. Have had it for many years, keep it in the boat.https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/flo-master-premium-handheld-sprayer-1998tl You just have to take the nozzle off and remove a piece inside and replace with a ball inflater nozzle.
  19. You could be challenged to have it all on 1 reel using a rope mainline w/ 55s. The rope takes up a lot more room on the reel. I'm in the always cable camp. The weight is worth the penalty, way more accurate and easier to keep straight especially if you're adding 55s I also found with rope it is easier to run over and it can knot if you're not careful.
  20. I think it's the colour. Not for everyone. Would look great in Canadian waters!!!Don't fire sale it! Id do it but my 01 with zbox still rocks
  21. @pregom same here. did the code expire @horton ?
  22. you can run classic rpm cruise with the stargazer system, at least for slalom. stargazer sets all your baselines so I'm assuming it uses those rpm values for the classic pull. I don't know if it works for tricks specifically, or rather if it let's you go that slow. I use RPM mode on PPSG often for barefooting.
  23. 6.2 200 I run does the same. Runs smooth after that initial pull up and worse with a heavy skier. Odd but seems typical
