  1. @DanE thanks, I'll try moving the equivalent of one hole forward. @Phil thanks mate. will video and send to Andy. Hope to see you soon. Are you on the Mapple?
  2. @DanE Powershell 5's, measured 29.5 from rear external of front shell, (heel)
  3. @skijay Onside is ok, but again does not like me to crank it hard. If I do, the ski stalls and I get broken at the waist.
  4. I've skied on a Strada the last few years and on a good day, get into 32 off. I bought a Mapple, Andy set up from looking at video. Not good, I got a big offide turn, not a sharp one with angle - how I like it. Am now on stock settings, but I'm not feeling it. It wont finish the turn on my offside, LFF and has a tendancy to Stop on my offside if I try to crank it. I would really appreciate some input. This week I've gone back to the Strada, it feels like an old friend. I know Mapple skis will help me, but before that, are many guys skiing on it and whats the opinion? Ant got numbers that work please? Stock is F Boot 29.5, Length 6.840; D 2.505; DFT 0.775 [non needle]. wing 8 [i'm on 7]. I'd like the Mapple to work, but no love so far! Cold water in London.
  5. its funny this thread comes up today. I tried the reflex & R shoe this morning. Did not like it at all - my back foot lifted too much even with the boot tight. So I'm sticking with my lovely comfy Powershell double boots, I want to run passes at this time of the season.
  6. @gloersen What video mount and camera are you using? The results are very good
  7. I'm LFF too. The trouble with going out hard at the 55's is that you wake up ZO and the boat will then be on you at the turn in. I also used to favour this approach, but now I like to be a little more gentle in the pull out, keep two hands on during a short glide, then turn in with back arm pressure. For me it's that pressure and getting the ski on edge that creates an early one ball. I still like the 1 handed gate because you get more speed at the turn in, but it was just a bit inconsistent and I often found I went through the middle of the gate, not the right side.
  8. @markchilcutt 34mph and 28off into 32 somedays. But not today its too cold to shorten the rope much. I'm a lefty too. Skiing at JB ski (Thorpe) London.
  9. @markchilcutt . Do you find much difference between the 2011 Strada (black & red) and the 2013 Orange? Thinking about a new ski. I tried the AM6 this morning. Freezing cold here and with wileys not my Powershells, but wow its quick, and onside turns are nice. It comes under the line easily, but a bouncy wake crossing (probably me). I'm not sure about the build quality - the edges looked rough! So now I'm thinking Orange Strada - maybe.
  10. Thinking about a new ski. I had an RCX for a short while, but it was too slow for me, compared to my Fisher at the time. So I've been on 2 Stradas in the last two years. It sounds like the Quest could be worth trying. I like the idea of a ski coming under the line easily, particularly on my offside. Can anyone compare the Strada to the Quest?

  12. The London tourists always enjoy shopping sprees at Performance and we are always welcommed by Bill and Danny. they go the extra mile to help. Cant wait to see the new store.
  13. I used to ski with a reflex front and a wiley or Radar Vector back boot, (vector was more comfortable than rubber). After a while I developed an injury in my back foot due to continually bending it forward too much. I switched to Powershell 5's Doubles. I took me months to get used to them. They are less forgiving than the Reflex set up, but my scores are about the same. I might try the reflex again but the comfort and feeling of security of the PS boots is great, Also I have not been OTF in the PS's in a year, exept one offside hard turn when it released. Try the reflex with a rear boot but give it time. A change of boots is harder to get used to than change of ski.
  14. I skiid yesterday at Thorpe with John Battleday and Freddie Winter in the boat! 36 Degrees F + some wind. Bloody cold but great coaching! The London experience!
  15. @KcSwerver What exactly do you mean by 2 and a half strips. I weigh 180 and have four strips on the ski and four on the plate Total 8 strips. How exactly do set it up and what do you weigh?
  16. Thanks all. @the_krista and @danbirch and@rico and@h20dawg79 and @ Steven Haines sounds like the Canyon then. Probably late August, I'll shout out on BoS and hope to hook up with you then. I have been a member of Princes in Lodon and am part of an action group trying to get skiing back on the water there following its recent closure. That said I'm skiing at Thorpe Park with John Battleday and enjoying it there.
  17. Thanks for comments. I think I may have to change my vacation plans if there is no slalom course. Can you guys reccomend another location up the coast, going towards LA where I can ski. I'll get withdrawl symptons, grouchy, moody, resentful etc - you all know, if I go two weeks in August with no Slalom. But @horton ,I may just ski at your dads place if I can. Slalom course?
  18. I'm going there in the summer. Never been before. With the wife & kids, wife doesn't ski. Anyone know of a ski club or pro ski coach near there? Thanks.
  19. Powershells are Great. It's not too hard to work out the dual lock . Just use the chart above or add a little more. I weigh 180 and use 4 strips of clear 250. (total 8). Perfect.
  20. Golf! You can dress warm. I know there are other ballers who play golf. Including Andy Mapple. And a bit of Snow skiing in Austria, but it's a big journey and expensive.
  21. @scotchipman that sounds right. I struggled to keep the ski in front of me.
  22. Just had a great week skiing at Swiss Ski School, Orlando with some friends. Also got some great coaching with Phil Hughes and really felt I was getting somewhere. That water temp was about 65 F. Ran a PB of 4 @32 off. Back to London and I'm in 40F water today and a drysuit. Could not run a single pass, over two sets. Worse still, all my form has gone, cannot get my hips up nor turn the ski. The water feels rock hard, every bump like concrete really fast. I've noticed the change before but not like this. Why is it SO different?
