  1. I don't believe that is a 2013 model (shown in the SIA ad), but it is a great deal for someone. I wish I saw that a couple days ago....I just paid almost that much just for a replacement liner.
  2. in the past I have dealt w/ Ryan .....ryan (at) squareoneco (dot) com
  3. yeah, crazy weather for August here in New England. Over the last couple weeks in N.H., I've worn my Camaro 1mm shorty just about every time out.
  4. I am not sure how the wrap would work... as pertains to the raised, silver D3 logo glued on the front of the ski. Not sure if you'd have to remove it?
  5. my 14 yo daughter is luvin her Quest GS...and looking very controlled and comfortable on it (skiing at 30 mph). Quest is the more forgiving ski of the two.
  6. @adirondackski the only two shops I know of selling Radar in NE are Parafunalia in Gilford NH (Lake Winnipesaukee) and Sunsports in Naples ME (Long Lake). My guess in the Std would work for you. I have a Std Vector on an aluminum plate, a few years old but barely used. Not for sale, but you are welcome to try it for sizing. Andover MA during days (I'm out of town til the 18th)
  7. Condolences, Dave. Beautiful write up. Sounds like you guys have all been blessed to be raised in the presence of a truly great man. Stay Strong & keep those wonderful memories around forever!!
  8. Hate when that happens...found same issue when going from the white 41-Tails to the red ones. Palm strap is too short.
  9. @scotchipman... I think part of what has slowed availability for smaller size that is Whitney has a large foot for a woman..so doesn't need smaller offering. I put my daughter in sz 8 Stradas this year...which were a touch big for her. I got a thicker footbed and puffed up the liners real good in the oven. She is luvin them thus far.
  10. update to my earlier post, I didn't feel like removing fin blocks, so instead laid a straight edge on top surface of ski alongside the block (of a 67 and 66 Quest). There definitely is a very small amount of rocker there, albeit much less than I might have guessed (don't own a feeler gauge so didn't measure it). Seemed consistent between the two skis. Presumably all that is important is how the rocker I detected on the top surface of the ski translates to the bottom side of the ski...no idea how to go about measuring that. Back to @LeonL 's original post...I can understand why it wasn't detectable with the naked eye. Hope this is of some help to you.
  11. @LeonL , FYI.... the rockerblock is not visually noticeable on my 67 Quest (or my daughter's 66). Haven't removed fin block to verify, but it certainly is not as pronounced as on the photo above (and on the D3 website). I'll throw a straightedge beside the top of the block tonite (as mentioned by ral below), and report back.
  12. Its a water source for local N.H. town. Odd...you can boat on it, but can't swim in it. I can't imagine owning one of those nice lake houses in this heat wave and not being able to dip your toe in.
  13. @KevFug..Much has changed in last 12 years. You should know....Radar Rocks! ...and Eddie's word is Solid!
  14. I couldn't agree any more with @horton here. In an effort to get away from (old school) tail riding habit, I consciously tried to unweight back foot...which results in back knee bend and/or chronic heel lift. More deterimentally....the unintended effect is that it causes front leg to want to lock straight. To ski this way, it is almost necessary to lean back and ski defensively...only worsening the "tail riding". Just this weekend while getting some coaching help, I was trying to figure out why my turn in (after pullout) was so uncomfortable and inefficient. The light came on, when I realized I was still "unweighting" my rear leg too much at the turn in. "Counter-intuitivity" and "muscle memory" are what make this sport so difficult...and why quality coaching is so important.
  15. This may help with sizing. I just bought a Blacktec shorty (from Waterskigirl). Worked great in 65 deg air/ 65 deg water the other morning. It is very different from my traditional neoprene shirts and 2/1 shorty. The material is extremely flexible and not as permeable to water. I was a bit skeptical on why the need for a 1mm shorty, but it seemed far warmer than I expected...and it is nice not to have the water "rush in". I am 5'10" 185 lbs. Kind of thick thru the arms, shoulders, and (42") chest....so went with the XL. Seems like a good choice, as I would guess that the L would have been too tight through chest. The inside of the shorty has a green, fuzzy, felt-like layer to it...very comfy, and dries out quickly in the sun. Attached is a close up. (Thanks goes out to @waterskigirl)
  16. My buddy has been going thru a similar nagging, intermittent problem w/ his SN GT40. Doesn't sound exactly the same as yours, but you might pull some suggestions or ideas from the responses he has gotten here..... planetnautique.com/vb3/showthread.php?26149-1997-SN-GT-40-Stalling-need-advice
  17. +1 for the benefits of a deep bridle/ "training" handle. Retrieving a dropped ski is a PITA. A boom is also a huge help.
  18. as a follow up to what @mino stated, there were people and/or a dealer on the Malibu website that indicated that the downturn exhausts actually made boats with a fiberglass platform louder -due to reverberation....teak, not so bad.
  19. @ShaneH just curious what you consider "reasonably tall"? I've got sz8's (a bit under 5-10", 185) and have often wondered if smaller feet should impact binding/rtp setup.
  20. ...and thus explains why Seth's (thin) liner looks worse than one of my dog's year old chew toys....complete with duct tape patch work.
  21. I second that, Matt....2mil shorty sounds more versatile than 1mil
  22. @kmenard ...if it wasn't mentioned, Radar recommends using the lower stiches on the heel of their boots as the basis for measuring the front boots distance to the rear of the ski. If you are using Radar boots on a Radar ski, I believe I read that the center hole on the front binding plate should put you at the "recommended" setting.

  24. in my case, it is E. All of the above (in the reverse order you listed them)
