  1. I am on a quest to qualify for nationals. Problem is I am stuck at 2-3 at 35 and to qualify for Mens 4 the average is .5 or so at 38. So I convinced my wife now that my kids are off in college, to spend Feb-Apr in FL and I would like to ski with Chet. I skied with him for a week and it really helped and I enjoyed it. Any help with locating a rental would be greatly appreciated, I already have a realtor but she is not finding much. Thanks
  2. Water 61. Air 56. Water too high with lots of backwash. 30 min west of boston. I need a rental near Chet for February through April if anybody has any connections. Goal is to finally run 35 and qualify for nationals.
  3. Watching on the big screen. Nice job @Horton
  4. Same here for 5 years. I really like the combo. Need to upgrade to the new vapor from the steady.
  5. @Than_Bogan. I was the poster boy for the storm on Channel 5 ( @Chris Eller ) with a Coble ski school shirt on. We had a tree as large as Than's crash into our house, 1 4 inch branch penetrated the roof, but other than that, lots of gutter and eaves damage. Water damage inside on the ceiling from the rain. So we are going to have quite the insurance claim. Everybody was ok, and the path to the water and the boat went undamaged. The water is up 4", so we are back to quite a bit of backwash :( Because really that is all that matters. Also @Chef23 had a tree land on his house causing some roof damage also.
  6. Let's be clear @Than_Bogan will ski in anything. He didn't mention that we have also been fighting backwash from the rain.
  7. Have fun. A tip for ski school. Don't wait to tape your hands. Do it from the first set.
  8. @TWB I am the friend that @Chef23 speaks of and my medium fits very well and is not too small. It does feel tight but stretches where it needs. It does feel like I am straining the suit when putting it on and taking it off but it has held up so far. I actually like it tight to keep the water out.
  9. First I am rather new to the tournament scene(less than 5 years). I like the idea of more slalom tournaments, since that is all I do. The question I have is "Can't this movement be from the LOC up, not the other way around?". It is my impression that LOC's are the ones who decide format and rounds and cost. So we need to get more LOC's to do 2 day, 2+ rounds per day Slalom only tournaments. Forming a new organization is going to have to recruit the sites/LOC anyway, so spend the time doing that change first. I know it does not solve the Nationals/Regionals problem, but one step at a time. Show it works in the grassroots organized level and make the change happen.
  10. @OB My point is exactly that, it is a great set up for slalomers, versus slalom on one day and then tricks and jump on the next which is what we basically have here in the northeast.
  11. I really like the tournament format the BAHA( @Tim Vaio ) runs in Sacto. One day 3 pulls, of which 2 could be slalom, or 1 each slalom, trick and jump. Then the second day another 2 round slalom. Gives the majority what we want, but give the 3 eventers scores.
  12. The plan is to never buy a boat again but get into a shared situation at a club.
  13. Any scoop on why Parrish didn't make the trip. He was the number one seed. The webcast didn't mention him.
  14. I keep to the simple stuff that I can't screw up. Oil, Winterize, change out a definitely bad part(thermostat, water pump, steering cable) Did put some skins on I bought from Chee(when you could actually get them from him) Will not do major engine work ie, lifters etc or anything fiberglass or gelcoat.
  15. Tell me about it. I had a trade show I was attending in Miami: Monday night - Wednesday afternoon. So I had my ski all packed ready to go to McGinnis Monday morning, Wed afternoon and Thursday morning. My flight from Boston to Ft lauderdale at 6am got cancelled because of the @#$% snow, I kept trying to get out on Monday until finally at midnight they cancelled the flight I was on because the didn't have enough flight attendants to go. No other options would get me there in time for a meaning appearance at the show and then I saw it is highly likely T-Storms on Thursday anyway. Talk about depressing. It was within my grasp. But NOOOOOOOOO!!!!
  16. Congrats. Nothing better like making the next pass. Problem is there is always the next one after that
  17. I might be thinking about this all wrong. But I paid 35k for a brand new 2001 response lx well equipped and with a trailer in 2000. If you just do rough math compounding 4% a year I get close to 60k. So those asking for a basic boat for less than 40k might be right but a little unrealistic. I agree that I am priced out of the new boat market with the prices the way they are but I was also priced out of the market when I bought this boat except for the help of a "sports related" work bonus and my 5year old trade in. However asking for a boat about what they were going for in 2000 is unrealistic.
  18. I still have a Response LX and other than Zero Off dont see a need to get rid of it. With that siad glad to see Malibu doing this, although one of the top features I like about the LX is the full sized observer seat and the walk over. It gives the boat a closed bow feel when we are using it for its primary purpose. Then I have the bow seating for knocking around with the kids. Full disclosure we are on public water.
  19. First off, I have never qualified for Nationals. I strive for it and will go the first year I make it, after that - not so sure. My take on this is you can expand the numbers that qualify but that doesn't solve the base problem that people seem to not find enough value in attending as I would after year 1. The numbers will go up but then dwindle again as the same problem exists. I ski tournaments to test myself against myself or exceed my seed. @horton has said it before it is hard to justify a long trip + the $$$ for a one round tourney, when there are so many other tournaments around for us non-elites. How about have Nationals stay the same qualification, but each day run a 2 round class C slalom simultaneously(maybe instead of practice-same or more money to the host site) to increase the value to the skiers. You get to choose any day but skiers whose event is the next day would get preference.
  20. +1 on Jenny Labawesome. Been working with her for 3 years and every year I feel like i am in better shape than the year before. As @Razorskier1‌ says it is not necessary about improved ball count, although it does help, it is about the ability to ski more, be more durable and reduce the injury count. You could argue that it is not cross-fit, but based on cross-fit principals but specialized to you and our sport. BTW: @Razorskier1‌ How did you like your present of 12 days of christmas from Ms. Labaw.
