  1. I can get 2@35 at 36mph on a good day. If i hadnt just flown to texas and back i would go ski this tournament. Where else could i go and spend 250 bucks to ski against and maybe be on the dock with cp,nate, will..... awesome. Who cares if its at 35 and who cares if you stand no chance of winning. I am really hoping for a cinderella story out of this. Like some unknown guy shows up and runs 3@43 or something ridiculous. Wont happen but this event gives the hope. Go ski promote the sport and have a great time.
  2. Orlando lake eola (I think thats the correct spelling.)
  3. If i could make it to orlando this would be so awesome. I want to ski it four balls against the best at 35...... awesome.
  4. I think i would like the "blem" look in the layup means no two skis are identical.
  5. I bought a 2002 196 with 740 hours fot 17k last year cant say enough good things about that boat. This winter it will get ZO. Two people on my lake have 04to malibus and they prefer my wake.
  6. This is kinda off topic but at my lake we have a lot of floating lumber from the cottonwoods that surround the lake, This year for some reason my fin really took a beating. I am wanting to replace it. I ski on a 2011 Elite. I was wondering if anyone had tried a carbon fin on an elite? That and if I did try it would the fin explode if I hit a larger piece of wood? I actually hit something hard enough it flattened and widened a spot on my aluminum fin this year.
  7. As far as driver error is concerned i feel its a moot point. Gymnastics is judged somewhat subjectively. I can watch an end of course cam and see times for every bouy.
  8. My sister was in about the same boat a year or two ago. She went from the vtx I think to a d3. she can help shed some light i think. @skifreak.
  9. They used to have tug of war so why not rock, paper, scissors? :) You could integrate that into the waterskiing.... thats how we decide who gets to go first.
  10. Actually in 1908 they did have motor boating so it isnt unheard of..... I feel if you throw out waterskiing because of the boat you should throw out shooting and equastrian because it isnt all human powered or physics.
  11. More important than the jets is timing of the distributor it sounds like it is too far advanced and thats why sometimes it wouldnt want to turn over. Running at altitude is a lot different. I live in fort collins so have fought these issues. I have an 86 american skier. Jets will make you foul spark plugs more than likely you have issues with both timing and fuel. I think that is the same holley as mine and they dont use jets they use fuel metering plate and fuel/air ratio is dictated by the float level in the carb.
  12. @Ed_Johnson Thanks I will try that.
  13. Not to hijack the thread but has anyone notice a bungee cord like feeling with the knotless ropes? skied on one the other day that felt really really elastic. I think it was just this particular rope but was curious if anyone else has had that.
  14. Ok here is a real basic outline. Categories are based on age. Every age group has a different starting speed and top speed. Everything is based on bouy count no handicaps or anything. So if your groups starting is 26 mph and 15 off and you run a full opening pass of 34 mph 15and off you get all the bouys for 26 to 34 mph which is five passes so a score of 30 bouys. If you start at 34mph and 32 off and get 5 you get a score of five because you didnt complete your first pass. Always want to run the opener. You can see the age breakdown for each category on awsa website. Hope this helps
  15. Switched jobs workibg graveyard stuggled with new elite. Went from running 32 90% and 35 10% of the time last year to finally getting back to that point now. Actuallu slowed to 34 and ran 38 so its getting there. Drought here will end the season in three weeks.
  16. Another reason to push for waterskiing in the olympics......that on a dock in a swim suit. It would be good for the sport...........
  17. @skifreak wish it looked like that now. Just a muddy hole now. Ditch rider just quit so they stopped the inlet and left the outlet open and are like if it empties it empties. I am thinking end of the month we wont be skiing.
  18. Little private lake about a mile north of boyd and horseshoe called donath lake.
  19. Same here. Dont know anyone on that lake. But if you have a couple hours after flying in to denver (i am assuming) I will pull you in fort collins.
  20. Its tool time....... sorry couldnt resist.
  21. I would like to up my tournamrnt pb by 10 and earn an open rating. Get beat bad by the real pros but it would be awesome to be on the dock with them once.
  22. I can see both view points. While i can appreciate the idea of running three passes and then your toughest pass. I follow the method that killer is taking. For two reasons one my lake gets horrible wash back after three and i dont want my toughest pass on the worst water and two i like failing in order to help identify my problem areas. That being said i still run my opener everytime. Gets in my head if i havent run a pass in a week. I go out and run -32 then Shorten to -35 and take a few shots at it then sit while water calms and repeat going out at -32 again seems to work for me. Wouldnt mind trying the other way if i had clean water after 3 passes.
  23. My 2002 nautique was doing this and it was the screw was coming out of the back of the throttle lever not allowing it to return properly. Tightened it up and all is normal again
  24. I am looking at doing video coaching with seth. I was wondering if anyone had done it. If it was worth it. If you would reccommend the series or just one session. If there is anyone else that does video coaching. I know its a lot of questions but i cant go to a site for coaching so this is my option. Any help is appreciated.
